I have a Kenmore range purchased from Sears. One of the red plastic light indicators that are on the range next to the control nobs broke off inside and the electrical terminal that was attached to it fell back against the metal shielding that enclosed the back of the range. This caused an electrical fire that thankfully ended quickly because my breaker flipped off but it did burn out the back of my oven and it cannot be used at this point.

I called Sears customer solutions and the only thing they could offer me was $129 labor plus parts to come and fix what is obviously a horrible design. There was no electrical shielding on 3 of the 4 the electrical terminals attached to the red plastic lights so this was a disaster waiting to happen with the other 2 light terminals as well.

My wife is 9 months pregnant and we have two small kids that were with her in the kitchen when the oven malfunctioned and electrical sparks shot up over the back of the range. She or the kids could have been seriously hurt because of this defect. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen and all I want is for my range that I purchased to be safe and usable or replaced with something that is!

My range top stove was on recall due to a fire hazzard on Jan 4. An appointment was set up for a week after the recall notice was received Jan 11. Do not use range I was told until it is repaired. The night before the scheduled repair I call to verify the time and was told the repair was rescheduled for 10 days later Jan 20. 10 more days with out a stove. I went to an online chat room and was told my new schedule was for the day of Jan 20 between 8 and noon. Today I received a call saying the time was between 8 and 5. Now they want me to lose another day's pay. I find it hard to believe that one department cannot contact another department to set up a workable time frame. When we built our house I bought all Sears appliances because I was told their service was the best. This is my 3rd experience with thing having to be repaired and all of them were very bad. I have already replaced one appliance from another store and will do the same each time I need a new one. I am finding out the hard way that Sears Service should be called Sears Lack of Service. Everyone there has some excuse for the problems but no one can solve the problem. I will never buy anything from Sears again. I will boycott them and K-Mart and advise all my friends to do the same.

I purchased a Kenmore Electric Range model 790 in 3-2006 and in Nov. 2008 my oven burn element coil shorted out and fell to bottom of oven. The coil melted through. Sears did not want to hear about this as we did not buy an extended warranty just the one year service. The coil also damaged the memory board that controls the oven. They said it was happened and nothing was wrong with the stove. They agreed to pay a little for memory board and labor. I said no because there is a scorch mark into bottom of oven and if I tried to use my self clean I am sure it would be a disaster and blow up or start a fire. I am very angry that a 2 1/2 year range could just happen to have this problem. I am sure it was dedfective from start but I am stuck with having to put another $400. out for a new range. So no Xmas cookies or turkey. THANK YOU SEARS FOR BEING SO GREAT... If they would have told me they no longer care how long a range will last I would have bought extended warrenty.
