Worst service in my life
October 2007 I used my Sears card at Sears Optical to purchase a pair of glasses on a really good sale. I was reminded repeatedly how much I was saving. Ok, great. Now it's almost September 2008 and I still don't have what I asked for almost a year ago. I hope no one has ever gone through this kind of ordeal, because it is ridiculous.
I did get my glasses after about a month, only to find that they didn't contain the transition I asked for. I came back and new lenses were ordered. I was having major surgery in December so I didn't bother to call to ask about them until late January when I had recovered (I had jaw surgery and could not speak well). I have taken countless trips to the store to inquire about my lenses. They have now, after all this time, been ordered about 7 times and each time they come back identical to the previous incorrect pair.
That's not even the bad part. The part that is most frustrating is that the person who works at the store, who I was told works there because she "thinks outside of the box" (OH PUHLEEZE), refuses to acknowledge how much bullshit this is for me. Instead she tries to get me to feel sorry for HER since she can't seem to get my order right. Instead, all I got over and over again was a barrage of excuses. The delivery person stole thousands of dollars of goods and is being incarcerated, the system is down, the system is new, the system is broken, it's a mess back here, I don't know where the other person puts things, the people at the lab messed up again. Then I got guilt trips, such as "I take this to bed with me, " "This whole ordeal keeps me up at night, " etc. I was also told the numerous times that clear lenses came in that each pair cost their business $400 a set. I'll be sure and send an apology for their trouble ;-). However, I was comped a pair of sunglasses (which I don't wear because they aren't prescription). Additionally, I was given a free set of clear lenses (which are of no use to me at all). The lady claimed to have filed a complaint with the CEO of the company because the lab was apparently at fault each time.
Three or four times ago that I went to check, I went with my mom because were having lunch together. It has become a running joke (which is not really that funny) that every time I go there or call I will never get what I want. So once again when the lenses weren't in, or suddenly disappeared from the system (the orders), or were just shipped, or were on their way, or were lost somewhere, I forget, it's all a blur now, the lady there says "wow you've been so patient, " and I said "Yeah, to your face." And my mom told me later that the woman said to another person nearby that that was not very nice of me to say that. OH, SORRY FOR NOT BEING NICE. I think upset sort of comes with the territory. I've spent more money in gas to pick up my non-existent lenses in the last year than I had on the glasses themselves. So much for a flipping sale.
Oh I also much mention that the last time I went in, the lady who works there lost her husband a few weeks ago. So when I went to ask for my glasses she said she had been out for weeks because her husband died and she hasn't had time to look for them. I'm not saying that's a lie... what I am saying is that isn't my problem nor is any of the other reasons why I haven't received what I ordered. I asked for a full refund at one point and she said ok hand over the glasses, and I said why you're just going to throw them away, and they said well you can't have the glasses and the refund. If it were me working there, I'd give the customer whatever they reasonably asked for to save them from losing more business down the road.
I have told everyone I know not to go there, and made sure to make a stink when I do go so the people in the store might be warned about the bullshit they may possibly end up enduring like I did. I filed a complaint with the better business bureau (which I had never done before, in case you think I'm an avid whiner). Sears never responded so my complaint file was closed, and I received a notice that consumers would be advised to be cautious with them in their dealings. Hopefully someone benefits from this mess. I sure haven't.

Waiting forever for sunglasses and being told stories
I ordered 4 pair of glasses from Sears Optical during their "complete pair of glasses for $99" special which ended 6/28/08. This was on 6/23/08 in the evening. Less than a week later, I called in to find that my 2 pair of clear lenses had come in already but not the computer glasses or the sunglasses. I waited until I returned from vacation and called in on either 7/5 or 7/6 only to be told my computer glasses were in, but not the sunglasses. On 7/7, I was called by Terry, the store manager of the Optical department and informed that my glasses were shipped and should be here by Friday which was, 7/11. I called on Sunday and was told that yes they had been shipped and should arrive on Tues. or Weds. I called again on Weds, the 16th and was told it was Weds. or Thurs when they'd come in and they'd be there tomorrow. I again asked for a complaint number and was given some number that didn't work. So I went on the internet and found the number myself and called the next day, because of course, the complaint department is back East and I'm in CA.
After I complained I received a call the same day from Terry stating that my prescription was so strong that the lab had to back order the lenses and then on final inspection, they broke and so they should be here in? She said she would call me 7/18 and let me know when I could expect them. Well, 7/18 came today and WOW my sunglasses arrived! And they actually worked although I am having difficulty adjusting to them and they are the same prescription as my clear lenses.
My complaints are several fold. 1. My sunglasses couldn't have been due to arrive each time I was promised if they were broken.
2. Why lie to me? Why promise they will be in within 7-10 working days and then it take 18 working days! 3. I was blamed for the delay because my prescription was too strong and I wanted a difficult bifocal? What? I didn't have any choice about the bifocal!
I do want to report that I complained by phone a second time after Terry hung up on me! And I requested my glasses and a refund which they granted. I'm still waiting to hear from the District Supervisor, Michelle, who is supposed to call me within 48 business hours. We'll see! I doubt she will call!

$311 for glasses I cannot see out of!
I purchased progressive lenses at Sears. Returned three times because could not see with them. I was told the prescription was correct and to go back to my opthalmologic. The website says "Satisfaction Guaranteed with No Questions Asked." DO NOT BELIEVE SEARS OR THEIR OPTICAL PROVIDER, U.S. OPTICAL. It has been one year and I am still fighting to return glasses I cannot wear. They told me I must return within 90 days - I did try!! U.S. Optical runs the Sears Optical centers so it is useless to bring a complaint to the store manager. My eye doctor told me they sold me inferior lenses that were not the quality of my current lenses (much older) and they should take them back immediately. Warning: You get what you pay for - see your eye care doctor who is a professional and has your health and wellbeing in mind. U.S. Optical and Sears will take you money and not give you anything but the run around. Very, very bad business. Their optical departments should have to be registered with the state and have guidelines but they don't. I wonder how many elderly people have been cheated by Sears Optical. Sears - shame on you!!!

junk eyeglasses
In April of 2007 I purchased a pair of drillmount glasses from the Sears Optical store in Logansport, Indiana. By the time all the bells and whistles were added, I paid $600 for this pair of glasses. No warranty info was given to me at ANY time.
About 6 months later as I was cleaning them, they broke out where the lens joins the frame at the nose piece. I got online to see about contact info and that is when I discovered that I had a one year warranty on the glasses.
So I called the Sears Optical store where I purchased them and explained what had happened. The girl on the phone told me to bring them in, that they would fix them and there would be NO CHARGE. So I took them in.
The manager waited on me and said it would cost to have them fixed. I told her what the employee had told me on the phone about no charge. The manager said that the girl was new and didn't know what she was talking about, that their warranty was a limited one and that I would have to pay to have them fixed. She said that the drillmount glasses are FRAGILE and prone to break. Well, if they break a lot, then why even sell them???
Well, I was livid, but needed my glasses and my husband thought I ought to pay what they asked. So pay we did.
This time, glasses lasted about the same length of time before breaking again in the exact same spot. Rather than have to pay again, the glasses are sitting in a drawer and I am wearing my old glasses while I wait on a new pair (another $444 from a different eyeglass store).
I will NEVER EVER buy another pair of glasses from Sears Optical.

GLASSES
MY GLASSES WERE WRONG AND I COULD NOT SEE WITH THEM. WHEN I TOOK THEM BACK THE CLERK, ROBERT ASK ME TO GO AND SEE MY DR THE MADE THE PRESCRIPTIONS AND I REFUSED, STATING THEY WERE TO SEE ABOUT FIXING THEM FIRST THEN IF THEY DID NOT WORK I WOULD GO BACK AND SEE MY DR. I LEFT MY GLASSES AND NEVER RECEIVED A CALL TELLING ME MY GLASSES WERE IN. WHEN I CALLED THE SAME CLERK STATED THAT HIS MANAGER WANTED TO TRY AND ADJUST THEM FOR ME AND THEN THEY WOULD SEE ABOUT SENDING THEM OFF. THIS WAS 2 WEEKS LATER, AND ROBERT HAD TRYED TO ADJUST THEM BUT I GUESS HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING IF SHE FELT SHE HAD TO TRY ALSO. I WILL SPREAD THIS TO KINGDOM COME AND BACK AND WORD OF MOUTH IS WORST THEM ANYHTING. THIS PLACE IS AWFUL. SO 2 MONTHS LATER AND DOWN 350. DOLLARS I HAVE NO GLASSES.

Terrible Service and Double Billing
I went to the Sears Optical office located in Manchester, NH on August 1st, 2007 for a routine contact lens examination. I had a horrible experience and it has proved to follow me even after my departure. I was more that early for my scheduled appointment and yet I was a half hour late in starting my exam. This was due to fighting with the less than helpful and bordering on rude receptionist about my benefits. I work as an employee for my insurance company and had to beg and plead for her to verify my benefits instead of just telling me it was “not covered”. Finally she did only after I made a scene in front of other customers. The insurance company confirmed with the woman that indeed, I was telling the truth. She was so mad she hung up on the insurance company and swore. After the visit she advised me all but $40 was covered and that she could not release my prescription or the contacts when they came in until I paid the difference. I did not agree but instead told her I would have to come back with the money. When I came back later the next week she gave me my contacts. I asked if I could have a paper prescription and she said the doctor was not in and would have to have him mail me one. I never received it and now I’m being billed for the $40 I already paid! I even mailed them my bank statement showing proof of payment with the first bill they sent me in error as she did not give me a receipt. They continue billing me and they now tell me that they are going to charge me another $40 in fees to transfer my account to a collections agency. Absolutely horrid. I would absolutely not recommend!

Glases you can't ware!
Vision services provided by "Sears Optical" at 1300 Southlake Mall, Morrow GA 30260 770-968-2239
At the end of August 2006, I purchased no line trifocals from Sears Optical at Southlake. The glasses, with discount, cost $215.00 and from the first time I put them on, I wasn't sure if they were right. The distance seemed off and the reading was blurry.... She told me to try them for the day and "get used to them" that my eyes needed to adjust to the new prescription.
Since that time, I have attempted to contact Sears Optical at Southlake a multitude of times. The doctors number on his business card is a recording... it gives you two numbers... one number has a recording on it that states that your call will be returned within 60 minutes... the other is actually answered.
When I finally got through to someone there (Sharon) on 10/19/06 she stated that the doctor had resigned. I explained to her that was not my problem and she said "well we don't have anybody to do re-checks" I stated again, that this was not my problem. She told me she would call me back on 10/20 to see about my coming in over the weekend- that the doctor was going to come in for a few people to do re-checks. I did not get a call back.
On 10/23 when I called, I again got Sharon who answered the phone asking "do you want to make an appointment for an eye exam today?" I said no, and told her who I was... she then stated that "she was just about to call me" and that the doctor would see me- did I know where "Eagles Landing was?" I said no I didn't and she then said "well you know, the doctor is independant" and I said "I made my payment to "Sears" and therefore Sears was responsible.... I then asked for the name of the manager there. She said the manager was Sheila Dawson and that Sheila would not be in until tomorrow. In the meantime, I get a flyer in the mail stating that the Sears Optical at Southlake is having a sale!
In the interim, I have glasses I cannot wear and every time I call there I get the run round.
