dehumidifier
I tried to either exchange or return a dehumidifier that was not working and was still under warranty to the Sears store that I bought it from. I had the receipt too. They called the manager and he informed me that I had to take it to a separate store that did diagnostic tests on it and I was to pay them $29.99 to diagnose the problem and then pay them to fix the dehumidifier as well. I have dealt with Sears all of my life . I have have always had problems from them as well but have over looked them in the past. Finally after 40 years of dealing with there bull ...DING ! A bell went off . I have finally decided to stay clear Sears. I can easily find stores with equal or better products that will stand behind there products. I was not very happy throwing away over $200. on a humidifier that can not be used. Everyone is eager to take your money but if there is a problem they don't want to take care of it.

Terrible place
I called Sears to come and look at my TV, because it was not working - The repair man came in took the back off and said hum - it could be a blown fuse - went out in his truck brought back a fuse and installed it - the TV worked. He put the back on the TV and typed out a billed - $ 211.32 -

NO ESTIMATE ON THE COST JUST A BILL... It cost me 207.76 & the fuse was 3.56... I told the repair man this was to much, he said its

What it is.

Fraud and cheating
I moved into a brand new home in July and purchased a new Kenmore, French Door, Fridge. Not 2 months later the refrigerator side of the unit stopped cooling. The freezer side still worked but I called Sears on a Thursday to have a tech come out and service it. The closest appointment was for the following Tuesday between 1pm -5pm. I waited and supposedly the tech called at 3pm, and due to not hearing the phone he skipped my service repair and went to the next appointment. I called Sears and they told me because I didn't answer I got skipped and now have to wait till Saturday for the next closest appointment.

So now everything in my fridge has gone to waist and am now eating out of two coolers filled with ice. Learning lesson, Don't miss the tech phone call even when your home cause Sears will make you take it right in the tail pipe...

Fraud and scam
Had repair for fridge set for 9/22/08 in the AM. Sears confirmed the night before. They no showed me and then lied that the tech said he came to the house. Their call center was a joke and was helpless and no supervisor would help. I had to go to their store and blow a gasket. They gave me no choice but to reschedule with no explanation or apology.

On my knees praying that they will actually show up tomorrow. I will never... never shop at Sears ever again!!! How they still stay in business is a complete mystery to me!

Re-Stocking fee
I went into the Sears Store in Rego Park, New York, Saturday, September 20, to return a Sony 2-Speaker Home Theater System purchase on 09/05/2008

Using a very unprofessional and confrontational approach, I was told by their sales staff that there would be a 15% restocking fee The stereo was in the original box and looked like it had never been opened and brought back to the store within 2 weeks of purchase. I have a note from the store manager written all items received.

The restocking fee does not apply as the item was in the original box and packaging and met the requirements of Sears Return & Cancellations Policy

I also e-mailed and phoned their National Customer Relations to look into this. I explained to the representative that the product returned was in the original box. She then changed the reason for the 15% fee! Open box!. Never again SEARS!

Sincerely,
John Moey

Terrible service after the sale
Sears failed to provide a reasonable means to register for their rebates on home appliances. Their employees were rude, and/or simply could not help because of a lack of corporate procedure or because the employee could not adequately understand the English language. Their website didn't work and no one could explain why, or what to do to comply with Sears' requirements. I will never purchase from Sears again.

Fraud and scam
It was the summer of 1996, and my car's brakes needed to be replaced and my husband needed new tires on his pickup. So, we went to Sears Automotive. My husband chose off-road tires for his pickup, but when the tire replacement was done, they were the cheap tires. We pointed this out, and after trying to convince several auto techs and the manager for about an hour, they changed the tires to what we ordered and had purchased.

We also paid for the brake job, but when we drove out of the parking lot and stopped at the first stop sign, the brakes sounded worse than before. Drove right back to the automotive department, where they said, oh, we just replaced the brakes on the rear drums. So, why did the brakes sound worse? They gave us the rear brake job for free and proceeded to do the front discs. Okay, we drove out and the brakes made a horrible worble sound. This is not good. Drove the car back. They said that they did not sand down the rotor evenly, so after waiting to get in a week later, they took it back to fix it. I drove it out, thinking the brakes were fixed. Not so, the brake response was worse and within a week, the worble sound was worse than previously. We called Sears Automotive and wanted them to make it right by replacing the rotors that they sanded down too far. They said they couldn't do it. We drove there and let them drive it around the parking lot with us to hear and feel the horrible brake job. They admitted it was bad, but were unwilling to give us new rotors. Mind you, this is now about a month after the first brake job, and the charge was on my Sears card. I wrote to the Sears credit card company to tell them that I was not going to pay for the brake job until it was resolved, and paid off the rest of the card except the charge for the brakes. I also wrote several letters to the local Sears and the national company, as well, with no further response. I continued to speak with the manager at the Sears Automotive, who delayed responses on resolving the issue.

Then, I got a nasty gram from the Sears credit people because I had not paid that portion of my card. I waited another week, and after the automotive manager gave me a wishy-washy response to resolving the bad brake job, I decided to pay my stupid Sears card off and cancel it, and along with my check, I wrote a nice nasty gram back to them to let them know that I would no longer shop at Sears, and I would let everyone know of my experiences with their incompetent staff. (That I continue to do to this day...)

The very next weekend, I took my car to Brakes Plus where they treated my very nicely and gave me a new brake job with new rotors. After spending $350, I finally had a safe car to drive, no thanks to Sears Automotive.

For the next eight years, I saw that credit ding from Sears on my credit report. Even though I had a note referencing the issue, it still put a negative mark on my credit, and cost me more with higher mortgage rates. This summer we purchased a new mini-van, and for the first time that Sears ding was no longer on my now excellent credit report, thus continuing to remind me how I really hate Sears.

Service
I am very disappointed with Sears and their maintenance policies. On Monday, September 15th I called to request maintenance support for an inoperative Kenmore refrigerator, Model 253 7897 4801, purchased on July 11, 2008. I was informed a technician would call on Tuesday evening to confirm whether they would arrive in the morning or in the afternoon and thus limit the time we would need to stand by to accommodate them. Not having heard from them last evening, I called to check on the problem. I was informed that the service department would not be calling upon our home for a total of nine days, on September 24, 2008.

Nine days to call for a technician! I could replace the equipment with better response. I have no idea why it should take such a long time. Nor can I imagine how Sears could not clarify that their service was so inefficient and that I should prepare to keep things cool with ice and portable ice chests.

Broken appliance
I bought a Beverage cooler (a mini refrigerator) from Sears.Only had it for about 5 months. It cam with a dent in the door, they replace door, it had a broken tab, replace tab, this is the good part. The condenser got a hole in it, freon all in my basement. I called the sent a tech out a week later (I took off a day from work). Said they will get the part and repair the frig. got the part. Two weeks later a Tech came to but the part in and said they needed another part. Found out the part is not available. Now the tell me it is no longer warranted. two days off from work. I called source one explained to them what happened. the said the have to send the head Technician to confirm the problem. now this is the 3rd day off from work. The technician called me at 11:00 (the appointment is from 8 am to 12 noon what a window) and said their is no reason to come there so he did not show up. now I only had the frig for about 5 months . They wont fix it and if I want to fix it. I can not because there is no parts for the frig. I am self employed carpenter so every day off is money. I could have bought a new one with all the days off. If anyone else want to jump on this with their experience. email me [email protected]. My friend is a layer that is going to help. This is wrong what big companies do.

Do not buy from SEARS OR KMART, SEARS AND KMART ARE ONE COMPANY NOW.

Bad service
I called Sears 4-Home Aug. 13 regarding y door latch switch on washing machine. I was told the earliest appt. was for Sept. 3. Not happy but had to deal with it. I told them what the error code read out was and be SURE and bring the part. On the 3rd at 3 I called to makes sure I was on that days' list. I was. He finally called at 3:30 (service calls are between 9 and 3) and said he was on his way. He was 30 mins. away. I asked if he had the part with him. Sears had the model # wrong on my warranty certificate and he didn't have the part with him anyway. He said he would order the part that day. That was Wed. Sears called Monday to tell me to call when the part arrived. It was due Tuesday. Didn't come. We called back when the part arrived on Wed. They were going to put me back at the bottom of their list! I called the repairman directly ( he is the ONLY repairman working for them in a 100 mile radius or more!) directly and he promised to be out on Friday the 12th. It is 4:40 and still no repairman and no phone call. What a way t run a business! I am totally disgusted with Sears and want them to refund my warranty ( I have never used it and they have never called to schedule that so called preventative maintenance they tout in the contract). I paid over $200 for a big nothing! I can order my own parts and do my own repairs as I can get instructions online from FixYa.com .So, Sears, what do YOU have to say about this? I am tired of fighting about getting my machine fixed. I have spent over $15.00 at the laudromat and driven a 40 mile round trip to do it. You call this service? OH, PLEAZE!
