Rebate Denial
I see that I am not the only one that is totally disgusted with Sears' rebate policies. We made our first major appliance purchase (washer/dryer) last fall after much shopping and research. We were supposed to get 10% cash back and no payments for one year. I was handed a confusing packet of paperwork that included some rebate forms and tax rebate info. I was lulled into thinking I could handle the paperwork after the holidays since I wouldn't be paying anything for a year. BIG mistake! I fell into Sears' trap! I didn't submit the paperwork within the 30 DAYS that they allowed (an unheard of deadline in rebates!!!)
Basically, this is a tricky way to get people in their store with a sales price that they frequently do not have to honor because I suspect many customers don't jump through all the paperwork hoops. Nice! I'm taking this to the media because I think it is a major scam by what I previously thought was a reputable company!! And like others, I will never purchase again from Sears!

What a shame
Sears has just introduced a new maternity line that does not carry plus size maternity. Their previous line of maternity clothing extended to 3x. So, as America gets larger and larger, Sears decides that they will not service this population of women. There are SO FEW places that offer plus size maternity - only JC Penney and Motherhood Plus are the only national retailers I know that carry up to 3x maternity.
I asked Sears customer service repeatedly for their maternity buyer to contact me directly and received a boiler plate canned response in return each time.
Sears, shame on you!!!

Fraud and scam
My son purchase a television and maintenance agreement from Sears. Why Sears? Because the salesclerk told him that if he was hesitant in making the purchase, no problem, he could return it in 30 days for a refund. Signs are everywhere about satisfaction guaranteed. There are signs nowhere about restocking fees. The salesclerk said nothing about restocking fees. So, my son purchase the television and maintenance agreement.
He tried for two days to hook up the television, bought new cables, television stand and etc. but was not satisfied with the quality of the picture. He put everything back in the original box and returned to Sears, as the salesclerk had assured him he could. They hooked up the television and everything was in good working order at Sears.
That is when he was told of the restocking fee, printed on the back of his receipt. He asked to speak to the manager and explain to him about the clerk and he was not aware at the time of purchase of the restocking fees. The manager, who was extremely rude, would not listen to any logic. Since my son was originally purchasing it on a new credit card application, he didn't even have a credit card in hand and the manager told the clerk to take the t.v. off the card and add the restocking fee of approximately $450.00 to the card. Yes, $450 dollar restocking fee!!!
Not only is he receiving a bill for the restocking fee but also the $500 maintenance agreement on the t.v. he doesn't own remains on the card. Yes, he contacted them to take it off but nothing.
My point is... if signs are everywhere about satisfaction guaranteed or your money back and the sales people tell you to return an item but don't inform you of the restocking fee... is that fair? If signs were posted about the restocking fee, my son would never have purchased the television. I feel like it is false advertising and I would never purchase anything from Sears again. Printing it on the back of the receipt, which prints out after you made the purchase, is nothing short of a scam.
I'm seriously considering printing up fliers to distribute to customers as they enter the mall... sort of a consumer alert to the restocking fee. Maybe a little news reporting would get their attention.

Terrible service
We bought a Kenmore Dryer on 6/27/2008, one with everything on it, it even has a steam dry cleaner on it. They delivered it on 7/2/2008, hooked it up and was gone but they forgot to hook up the steam cleaner so we called and called and called they final sent someone out on Sun of all days but they didn't know what to do, we kept calling and 3 times they send someone out and they don't have the things to fix it. The last time was 7/9/2008, so we called sears in rome, ga where we got and talked to the manager. He said held get back with us, I don't know, I'm to the point of just sending back go some where else to get me a dryer. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with sears and if I get this settled it will be my last!

They don’t keep their promises
Sears was to be here between 8am-12noon. Nobody called. I had to call and then the technician called saying we are next on the list. Its 4:30pm and no call. I spoke to a manager from sears and told him I was going to record this conversation. He told me if I do that he can’t talk to me!! Hello they can record me but I can't them. This is not the first time with this service. Who can I contact to file a COMPLAINT? Because if I gave this kind of service I WOULD BE OUT OF A JOB.

They don’t care about warranty
I bought a Sears Die-Hard Gold battery ($94) in 3/2007 and it died last week and I had to buy another battery at WalMart. I put the WalMart battery in my car and it started again. I brought the dead battery to Sears and asked for a replacement as promised in their 5 years warranty, they refused it and they recharged the dead battery and told me to take it home forget about the warranty!. I angrily left the battery at the store. I think they are really stupid because nobody can revive a dead battery! This is a second time in 5 years I have trouble with Sears Die-Hard battery!

No customer service
I am one of thousands complaining of lousy Sears customer service. I purchased a refrigerator. The freezer door won't say closed. Service man came and said that was normal. Non the less, he issued me a check for $101.33 for lose of food. I called the tech center and they said that the door was broken. Another 3 appointments were made. They never showed up or called. I waited 4 hours for their no-show. Sears reputation is a joke. Great Indoors, a fancy store, is a distributer for Sears. They don't tell you that up front. Stay away from any of their products.

Terrible quality products
We spent over 8 k for a top of the line HVAC system for our 2 story house 2 years ago. The system is leaking. Sears says there is no warranty on anything and we are stuck with a system that is on the edge. The rep (an independent dealer) told us that the unit had a 10 yr parts warranty. Not true.
We call Sears they don't care and now I am on a crusade to let anyone know what they did to us is epidemic. They are no longer the company they once were. Heck they aren't even close

Fraud and scam
Do not buy from Sears as in their washers and dryers (Kenmore) as they suck, $4000.00 in these units turn your white clothing into chocolaty clothing with like coffee looking stains all over them as it is from the themselves and they ruined about $5000.00 in Abercrombie clothing and they refuse to do anything about it, as we have lawyer on this case now, Think about it, they are K-mart now (as in blue light special)...

warantee for refrigerator
I have a warrantee for my refrigerator that I purchased with Sears. I called on Thursday (07/03/08) only to find out that the warrantee expired and that I would have to wait 30 days for the paperwork to come in the mail to renew my contract. Now my refigerator is not working and I will have to pay $300 to have someone from Sears come and repair it. This is totally unacceptable.
