False Advertising
I order tires on 2/16/08, and paid a deposit of 337.00. Now that the tires are in, Sear is telling me the cost of each tire will be 225.00 not the price quoted and advertise.

Overcharge!
My air conditioning went kaput around Aug. of 2007. Did some research, ended up calling sears for an estimate for a new air conditioning system. Salesman came over, gave me pricing, etc. So I went with them. A few days later it was installed. However a new platform for the unit was not installed, they used the old one. Basically I paid for something I didn't get. I called the salesman and manager and was promised a credit. Didn't happen. Called again, promised a credit... didn't happen. Now when I call I get no answer. NICE SEARS!!!

Never again!
What a nightmare! On Feb 24th 2008 my boyfriend and I purchased a new Kenmore washer and dryer. We both work M-F 9-5. The earliest delivery date they had that would work around our work schedule was in 2 weeks! We were scheduled to have them delivered and installed on March 10th between 5 and 9pm and remove our old washer and dryer.

The showed up at 5:30 with the new washer and dryer. One of the guys came into the apartment with me so I could show him where it needs to go (upstairs in the laundry closet within our bedroom). He walked right in with his boots on which he had worn in the alley in the rain. Great. Now I have little rocks and who knows what else from the alley all over my laminate floors!

He then told me that he needed more room in the bedroom to install everything. We had cleared out all that we could the day before and measured to ensure there would be enough space. All that remained in the room was our bed and our wardrobe. I told him that the only way to get more space in there would be to dis-assemble our bed. He said okay, go ahead and take the bed frame apart. He said to give him a call once it was cleared and then he'd come back to install the new appliances and remove the old ones that night.

The specified delivery time was 5-9 pm. They left at 6:00, leaving our new washer and dryer in the middle of our kitchen. I took apart the bed, flipped the mattress against the wall and moved the wardrobe completely out of the way. I called him back at 7:00 (as instructed). When I got a hold of him he told me that he is going home. I'd have to re-schedule another delivery time through the store.

We were outraged! We were promised that he would come back and install everything that night. Now all of a sudden he's going home half way through his shift and we're left with no bed to sleep in and a washer & dryer in the middle of our kitchen!

We called every possible Sears number we could find. The only person who answered the phone was some lady who told us that there's no way we were getting anything installed that night and we'd have to wait until Saturday (it was Monday) for someone to come out. The mattress was at the very back of all the bed frame pieces and the wardrobe. There was no way we could even lay it on the floor.

After spending the night sleeping on our now dirty laminate floors, I made quite a few phone calls the next day. I finally talked to somebody who apologized for what happened and they said the best they could do is have the same guys come out to install everything in 2 days. That means 2 more nights of sleeping on the floor.

What we still cannot understand is how after waiting 2 weeks for a delivery time, this guy can be going home half way through his shift one night, and then be 'completely booked' for the next few nights.
Apparently Sears contracts out their delivery service and this service doesn't do overtime. Shows how much they care about their customers. I've had Ikea deliver at 10:30pm to keep their promise of a delivery time and keep their customers happy.

I called the store manager and he apologized for us being lied to by the delivery guy and having to sleep on the floor for a few nights, but explained that there was nothing he could do. We had spent over $1000 on the appliances and almost $200 in delivery / installation fees ($50 delivery, $80 washer installation, $20 dryer installation, and $40 for removal of our old washer and dryer). I asked the manager for some sort of compensation for all this. He said he was willing to give us a %50 refund from the delivery fee - the $50 delivery fee that is.

So in the end they're giving us a $25 refund from a $1200 purchase, dirty floors, and a cold hard floor to sleep on for 3 nights. What a joke and what a nightmare!

I will never step foot in another Sears store.

Terrible everything!
I bought the kenmore elite Oasis HE washing machine in december 07, it is now march 08, i also purchased the extended warranty. I have the matching dryer, a kenmore dish washer, microwave, oven/stove and have never had issue with their products, until NOW. I am again waiting on the repair man to come. My machine rolls the clothes into a ball and spits the water onto the floor, i keep getting the "washer is taking too long to drain" signal of ld on the machine. This is my second time to call a service man. It also makes a god awful racket in the pump you can hear buttons that have been sucked thru these HUGE slits under the adjatator thingy, the last repair man showed me these slits and said id have to clear the pump/under basket myself. It was 3:00 on a saturday and he clearly was not interested in fixing the machine. when i called the customer service yesterday the man actually told me id have to put smaller items in a laundry bag. I said a laundry bag is about the size of a pillow case right?? He said yes ma'am. I said that is really funny cuz an entire pillow case was sucked into those slots a week ago. a lot of um um um ma'am we'll send someone to look at it on march 17 08. Do NOT buy this machine, it cost me 1200.00 and it is a total piece of crap, bad design with those slots t0 drain water under the plastic adjatator, very very bad design they are 1 inch wide and about 3 inches long, lots of room to get things sucked thru.

Overcharged!
The 21st of March I will send my last payment to Sears. I was late two times and they raised my rate to 32%. I talked with them and told them the circumstances and asked them to lower my rate. They refused. After years of being a Sears customer, I will never do business with them again because I know for a fact that other companies will respect a long time customer and negotiate a lower rate. I have done this for myself. Sear's attitude says that they don't care about keeping customers.

I'm going to make sure that my voice goes out loud and clear to every one I know to stay away of Shoddy Sears.

Thanks,
Paula Gramlich.

Terrible experience!
I sent a $400 diamond necklace in for repair. The repair company Sears uses said that they shipped it back, even providing a tracking number. When contacted, UPS stated that the package was never sent out. So far... 5 months later I am still chasing the missing necklace. No one from the store seems to want to get involved except Loss Prevention, whom I know personally. The jewelry manager is not helpful at all.

Unauthorized repair!
Repair man came out to repair a 6 1/2 year old electric dryer. When I scheduled the repair on the internet, the email verification stated that the repair man would go over the charges with me. I had my husbands caretaker at home with my husband when he arrived. The repairman came in, went to the dryer, went back to the truck, came back in and handed a receipt to the caretaker, fixed the dryer, went outside, came back in with another receipt and handed to the caretaker who signed the receipt. She thought the repairman had called me for authorization when he went outside. He did nothing of the sort. He just fixed it without saying anything. The repair bill was $268. For a couple of hundred more dollars I could get a brand new dryer at COSTCO with a 2 year in home warranty. I never had the chance. Talk about getting blindsided. I called the "Executive Team" and spoke to Sylvia who was not only rude but tacky. She "insisted" the charges were approved. Too bad I nor my husband were ever told of the charges. I tried calling the service center twice and they will not return my phone calls. I have a call into the General Counsel. THE BEST PART IS THEY DON'T KNOW I HAVE VIDEO SURVEILLANCE IN MY HOME AND CAN PROVE HE DID NOT TALK TO ANYONE. I am going to dispute the charges on my credit card, file a complaint with the BBB and NEVER shop at Sears again.

Poor customer service!
I purchased several products from Sears with a 20% off on all purchases over fifty dollars. After I ordered everything I was told that the five hundred dollar band saw I ordered was back ordered and I either had to wait an unspecified amount of time or buy one that cost more money. I relented and bought the more expensive saw. I received everything I ordered except a three hundred dollar belt sander. When I phoned Sears they told me it was coming from a different warehouse and should be to me soon. A week later I phoned again and was told it should have been at my home over two weeks ago. She told me that she would put a search in for it and I should call back on Friday. Friday I phoned to be told that the search would take 5 to 7 days. I requested a supervisor who then told me it would take 7 to 10 days and there was not a thing they would do for me. They would not send another one until they found out what happened to this one. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. No one seems to have the same facts and they really don't care about the customer one bit. A good company would send the merchandise again to satisfy the customer. It is not the customers fault they did not track their merchandise. I will never buy merchandise from Sears again and I suggest to everyone not to purchase from them they do not care about the customer and almost laugh at you when you call. With the old"Have a nice day" sarcastically after the conversation is over.

Poor Delivery
On December 29, 2007, we spent $1,417 at Sears (Sherway Gardens, Toronto) for a new front loading washing machine ($1099), pedestal ($199), installation ($85) delivery and old machine removal ($50). We were happy with the purchase and looked forward to our new machine that was to arrive on January 4, 2008. As instructed, prior to delivery, I carefully detached the hoses from the old washer and moved it out into the hall to make the job of the delivery/removal people easier. All they had to do was lift it up small flight of stairs (no rail) and out the side door (taken off). When the delivery personnel arrived they wanted to move the new washer in but refused to move the old washer out, despite it being written on the bill "SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: PLEASE REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF OLD WASHER". I would not allow them to merely drop the washer off without fulfilling their total obligations ($50 see above). I phoned Sears immediately to sort things out and to my surprise, while I was trying to contact someone at Sears, the delivery people simply drove away. This all occurred within 15 minutes.

After contacting Sears, two new delivery people were sent the next evening. In the meantime, my 150 lb son and I moved the old washer outside. This took us about 5 minutes. The new delivery people easily removed the old washer and easily moved the new one in. While they did scratch and stretch a spot on a new floor, I did not complain as I was happy to have the new washer in place. They placed the washer on the pedestal, attached the hoses and left. I was provided with instructions on how to install it correctly. While I was grateful for their keen delivery, unfortunately, they did not level the washer and on the first wash it started to walk across the floor during the spin cycle.

After contacting Sears again, an installation person was dispatched to properly install the washer (part of the total price included $85 for installation). This individual used my small level but did not want to wait around to check whether the leveling worked since "that would take an hour". After my wife showed him that it would only take a 20 min spin, he did observe the machine with no load and it appeared fine. However, the large yellow sheet that comes with the washer clearly states that it "MUST BE LEVELED WITH A LOAD" to properly balance the machine. This information was provided not ignored. Not surprisingly, once a load was placed in the machine, it violently vibrated during the spin cycle and it sounded like a helicopter was above our house. To obtain a quiet spin cycle, the feet of the machine had to be adjusted each time during the spin cycle.

I was not prepared to babysit an $1100 washing machine and contacted Sears to properly install the washer. The sales people at Sears offered to replace the machine but could not since the model had been discontinued. At this point, I requested a refund. Sears agreed and a pick up date and time was established. Again, I removed the hoses and moved the machine away from the wall and carefully prepared (ice and snow removal from the side of the house) for pick up. When the "pick up" people (the same people as the first delivery) arrived, they came into the basement but refused to take the machine away since it was still on the pedestal.

I contacted Sears and talked to a woman named "Diane" that would not and could not provide the name her superior or anyone at head office. She did give me a phone number for their head office. Unfortunately, I must have copied the number down incorrectly and when I called back and talked to "Christina", she would not provide me with any such number since she did not know of, or have any such number to provide me with. She could and did provide me with the address for the head office. Using a reverse 411, I obtained the phone number for the head office at Sears. I also arranged for the washer to be picked up again –a 12 hour interval on Saturday was the best they could do. I removed the eight ¼ inch screws that attach the pedestal to the washer and lifted it off the pedestal. The next day, two individuals came and within 10 minutes removed the washer and pedestal.

I contacted someone at Sears head office to explain this nightmare and she was willing to refund the cost of the washer and pedestal but not the cost of the installation ($85) or delivery ($50) cost. After my objection, she decided to refund the full cost to our credit card.

quality
I scheduled an appointment for dishwasher repair under warranty. They called the day of the service and said they couldn't make it. We will try again in 10 days.
I have had to repair my sears brand ice maker numerous times after it had been replaced by sears. Yes, they did show up that time! My Kenmore dryer leaks around the lint trap and fills the shell with lint. Yes, the filter does get cleaned after every load.
I am highly disappointed with the quality of Sears products and service. Our last Sears dishwasher lasted for years without a single problem. I am done with Sears and all of there related companies.
