Sears Reviews

refund
In December our washing machine went out. We have purchased all our appliances from Sears in the past.
Sears charges $75.00 for delivery but that is refunded with a $75.00 sears card. We want to buy American products and was told that whirpool was american made. Much to our surprize when we received the washing machine it has anID that says made in Mexico. Two weeks after we purchased the washer our dryer went out so we had to buy a dryer. We bought a dryer at Sears with a $75.00 delivery fee but again was told that it would be refunded with a $75.00 Sears card. Sears declined the secound delevery rebate because the dryer went to the same address as the washer. This is a crime, we have been scamed by Sears and will never never shop their again.

Does not honor online rebates
BEWARE. Sears does not honor online rebates. Either you will have input wrong codes, wrong dates, or something else which makes you "unqualified", even if you did everything right and 10 people told you you are qualified. I know for a fact I am qualified. The instore ad said all purchases on appliances that day 11/16/08 were qualified for free delivery. I bought 4200 dollars in appliances so I was well over the minimum. I never got the rebate and three times they told me to "input it again". The third time, we faxed the info to the woman who did it FOR us while we were on the phone with her so no errors would occur. Here is it many weeks later and today I get another message (nearly 6 months of going through this now) saying we are NOT QUALIFIED!!! It's soooo frustrating.

ONLINE PURCHASE PICK UP IN STORE
On February 13th, 2010, I ordered a trinket for Valentine's Day on Sears.com to be picked up in the Spotsylvania Mall store later that day after receiving email confirmation. This process, according to the website, should take up to 2 hours. I made the purchase at around noon and waited patiently. At about 2:30p, I went back to the website to check the status of my order and the online chat customer service person said that it had not yet been processed and to check back later. I waited until 4:30p and called customer service after not receiving the confirmation email and I was told that my order went through and that I could just pick up the item in the store with the confirmation number.

I get to the store around 6p and I ask customer service where merchandise pickup is and they lead me to a kiosk in the rear of the store. I put all of my information in the kiosk and nothing comes up so I summon customer service and I'm told my item is in jewelry because merchandise pickup does not deal with jewelry. I make my way over to jewelry and they have no record of my purchase.

They call the Manager and she comes out and explains to me that my order, though received and paid for online, could not be given to me because their computers were down and she can not release items without the computer generated record number. So my wife's St. Valentines gift can not be given to me until Valentine's morning because the computer has their particular store listed as closed and is blocking ALL transactions for this day. I work during Valentine's day 50 miles away and won't get to give my wife her gift until Monday. I went back online to get a refund and Sears tells me that they can't return my money for 4-5 days, so not only did they ruin my wife's surprise on St. Valentine's day, they will return my money a week later.

It is my hope that Sears and all of its associated companies just go away. This is not the first time they've screwed up something that should be pretty simple and it's clear to me that they don't give a darn about their dwindling customer base. Don't look now, they just lost another one.

Can't get anyone to answer the telephone
Feb. 10 I ordered a pillow sham to match a comforter and drapes I bought. I was assured I could obtain this item. I have called, visited the store and can get nothing except they don't have it. Sometimes I can't even get anyone to answer the telephone. The sham is for the Daisy Delight comforter.

back and u send me a letter asking me to call u with details. Well, I have left many messages and
no one has returned my calls. Nothing was wrong with my car until I went to Sears! I want my money back.

oasis elite washing machine, sears repair service
Warning! Sear's brand appliances have lost their quality! And Sear's repair services can not handle the load they must handle in addressing their growing amintainence woes!

Do your research people! Ask repair people what machines they work on most! Ask what brands names are actually from Sears! Do your homework and save yourself the frustration and lost time that I have had with Sears products!

lack of repair on my freezer
Last Tuesday 2-2-10 I called about a problem with my freezer. The earliest they could send someone was Friday 2-5-10 It snowed that day so they canceled the appointment and rescheduled it for Monday 2-8-10. The service guy came and said we needed a part and it was sent to us on 2-9. He was supposed to be here on 2-10-10 between 8-12. He didn't show and when I called 800-4My Home I was told the earliest he could come is 2-19-10.Please keep in mind everything in my 5 MONTH old freezer is melting. This has been the second time this service tech has came to work on this freezer. I find almost 4 weeks with a freezer not freezing properly.

I am wondering why I should ever buy anything from your company again, if that is the type of service I can expect.

dangerous
Not only does Sears not care about their customers, but they are willing to put their employees lives in danger. To all Sears employees that live in DE, NJ, PA, NY and any location that is in the midst of this blizzard, I am disgusted that you are forced to drive in these conditions. These people are not doctors and nurses...they sell clothing and appliances and work on cars. There is a reason people are being told to stay off of the roads. Just for your information Mr. Corporate man sitting at home there is a ban in Delaware on driving right now. It is obsurd and rediculous that the corporation is so greedy that they are putting these lives in danger so they can maybe make a dollar. Although nobody in their right mind is out buying appliances and clothing, and getting an oil change in this mess. If i lived in Delaware and had to work and i got a ticket for driving i would send it right to corporate. I hope you decide to close these stores and get your employees home before it gets worse. I am thinking about writing to a couple different newspapers.

ripping of cust
sears is ripping their cust off by putting cash cust in for searvice the same day they call in if your under warranty or contract you will wait. also the techs have to try and sell you contracts and snake oil products that are 3 times the price you can get them at other stores. water filters for their refigerators are for more expensive on their trucks. they also subcontract to other companys just ask the lady who sears sent a contractor to her house and hes started to do pushups in her home and asking for gator aid scary aint it lol. i have some real good stores i worked for them for 35 years. and have you notice that they have switch their name to A&E? watch out people they are out for their own pockets and dont care about cust service just look at all the complaints. WHO WILL BE COMING TO YOUR HOME ON YOUR NEXT SERVICE CALL? seras will not be coming to my house and i worked for them be careful

Appliances keep breaking
Here's a copy of an e-mail sent to Sears customer service:

Four and half years ago, we built a new house and bought all Sears Kenmore Elite appliances - Dual Fuel Range, Side-by-side refrigerator, washer, and dryer.
We choose Kenmore products because we have always had Sears appliances and they have always lasted for many years. We were excited to purchase those appliances even though we could have purchased other brands from other stores.

However in those same four and half years, our refrigerator had 3 service calls, was final declared a lemon and replaced with a new one. In the last 6 months, the washer was repaired because it was leaking water, and the dryer was repaired because the sensor switch broke. Last night I needed to schedule a repair for the range, because it started spitting flames and it appears there is an electrical short in the light sensor on the door. Needless to say these past four years have been very frustrating for us. We have spent between $250-$500 per year for service calls and repairs. These supposedly durable goods have proven to be less so.

I explained all this to a "customer service" representative on the phone. She offered to get us on a cancellation list so we may not have to wait until next Monday to get our range fixed. This is not the customer service I was really looking for. I'm tired of spending money to have appliances that should have lasted 10 years, fixed in less than five. It has really become unacceptable.

This e-mail is my last attempt to get some consideration from Sears concerning these issues. At this rate I could have replaced two of the appliances from another retailer for the cost of fixing what should have been excellent products. I don't want any more calls to "extend our warrantee", I want the products I bought not to continue breaking in less than 5 years. And if that can't happen I would just as soon look to purchase other products than continue to sink money into the Sears repair black hole.
