Terrible online store
Sears.com is the most terrible online store.

1. They charged my credit card and gift card (over $1, 000) instantly after placing the order no matter whether they have the item or not.
2. They advertise the Store pick-up option in 5 minutes. After 3 weeks, nothing happens. Nobody called me to pick up any thing.
3. I called online store. They did't have any clue and asked me to contact local store because it is a store-pick up option. Then, I called local store and they said it is online order, I have to contact
online store. They were playing ping pong. Nobody wanted to take responsibility.
4. Basically, taking money from customer and doing nothing.
5. Then, I called online store again to cancel the order. They said they will leave a note for local
store to cancel the order. Go to local store and they said it's not their job to cancel the online order. Give me a break!!!
6. It's been 5 weeks now, no confirmation whatsoever from sears that they will refund me the money.

Customer Service
BEWARE if you order from Gift Registry! The gift recipient will see the prices on the packing slip, unless you select a option on the very last screen in tiny letters at the bottom of your confirmation page. If you miss it, you are out of luck. I missed it, and immediately called Customer Service. They insisted they could not change the order and they could not even CANCEL it! I escalated up two levels of supervisors and gave up. How ridiculous in this day and age of computers to 1) not be able to modify an order immediately after submission, and 2) not be able to cancel an order immediately after submission. I will never order anything from Sears again. See address in this entry for sending letters of complaint.

false advertising
On 4/11/09 a Sears2Go.com ad came out listing a 1468pc. tool set and storage combo model # CO505 for $494.99. On 4/13/09, the last day of the sale I tried unsuccessfully to buy it for this price. I was told it was an error and the price would not be honored. On 4/14/09 the price on Sears2Go.com was changed to $549.99. I emailed them to see if this was another mistake but got no response. On 4/15/09 I tried again to buy it but they would not deliver on the price. I contacted PriceMatch Sears who said they would not honor the price. On 4/15/09 I received an email from PriceMatch that stated after reviewing my emails they determined a Sears2Go pricing error occurred. They apologized and instructed me to place my order, respond to the email with the confirmation number, and a price adjustment would be made honoring the ad. After placing my order on 4/16/09 and emailing them back I received another email on 4/17/09 stating the order had been cancelled and the offer had been retracted. However, as of 4/18/09 my money has not been returned. They stated pricing errors were rare and unintentional but posting 5 different prices on that web site in one week does not seem rare and emailing me stating I could buy it at this price was not unintentional. They are practicing false advertising and taking my money for a product they do not intend to deliver.

Misleading
I have to say I have never been so unhappy with a store. On 10-13-08 I went to Sears.com to purchase a new washing machine and a new stove. $1200.00 order. I went with sears online because it said next day delivery if the order was placed before 3:00 pm. I did so. I received a phone call right away from sears security to confirm my online order, I asked if it will come the next day since my washer was broke and I had a wash of wet clothes and a messy situation I needed it fast. She told me it is set up as next day delivery, and I would get a call 1 hour before they deliver. The next day came and nothing, I called sears.com they said the order was still in processing, and it showed the washer was out of stock, then she said hold on and checked and told me it was an error that both items would be available for the 15th, to wait and I would receive a call for delivery, now 2 days later not next day as stated online. Then I called back because I still never got a call back about delivery and my husband already lost a days pay waiting for the appliances, they said it was still in processing and any time now I would get a call. So we wanted to cancel the order. The woman offered a 10% off the order, and when asked if we would get a confirmation of that she said yes in 12 to 24 hours. Guess what, never got that comfirmation, big shock there!!!it took me over 24 hours to even get an email of my original order. So the 15th came and still no call for delivery, my husband was up set he called our local P C Richard, they had the same washer and better stove, said we can have it next day. I am looking at both appliances from P C Richard right now and I love them. Went placed the order, by the time I got home they already called to confirm delivery. Woke up today by the phone ringing, and it was P C Richard giving me my 4 hour window, they came at 9:00 am, and I was doing my wash by 10:00 am, imagine that! I called sears.com back and told them to cancle the order, the man informed me that it was still in processing and now claimed my credit card co. was holding it up. Now a completely different story. I told him if that was true then my credit card company would have called me to confirm it not let it go for days. So I told him to cancel the order, he did, and within 2 minutes I got my cancellation emails on the order. Wow, what a company, they won't process an order like they state, but boy they are sharp when it comes to cancelling. Good business, huh? this negative experience will affect all of sears not just online. It is switch and bait, tell people they can have it next day with a false sense, and then give them the run around. I'll even bet they were out of stock and they kept trying to cover it up and keep me waiting. Also, when the order was cancelled there was no 10% discount showing on the order for our trouble so I expect if the item was shipped that would have been another fight as well to get that. Terrible business on sears, false, and just a complete waste of time. I will be happy to push the P C Richard name to my friends and family. Sears will not get any more of our business and I will advise friends and family of the experience. In fact I will send out this letter to everyone I know, and all the complaint sites, as well as all the sears departments I find to inform them of this. Thanks for nothing Sears!!! By the way I used the same credit card to make my purchase from P C Richard and what a miracle...it went through right away!!!

NOn delivery of washer to matching dryer
Sears set the date for delivery of washer/dryer and then only delivered the washer. When called they simply said the washer did not make it unto the truck.

They could next tell me WHEN the washer will be delivered. They only said someone would call in the NEXT TWO days to reschedule! Loverly, so now I can dry clothes but not wash them. For nearly $1500 you'd think they could deliver the items as promised?

Bad service
Sears could not deliver on the agreed upon date. They suggested I cancel the entire order and re-order with the original desired date. I did this and miraculously they were able to deliver on the desired date. However, they charged me for both the canceled order and the recieved order. I have spent over 5 hours being transferred from dept to dept to full mailboxes to people who promise to call back but never do etc. Three months later I have still not been credited for four appliances that were never even recieved.

Restocking Fee
I purchased a compact refrigerator on Sears.com for pick-up at the Sears store in Calcutti, Ohio. I called Sears.com's 1-800 number and cancelled my order within 24 hours and now I've been charged a RESTOCKING FEE. Prior to ordering it, the website said I would have the refrigerator within 5 days. When I got the confirmation email it said 15 days. I didn't want to wait forever so I cancelled the order. The store owner gave me the runaround saying that he didn't charge me a restocking fee, but it sure showed up on my charge card. However, he told me it is their policy to charge one. When I phoned Sears.com everyone I spoke to had a different story and placed me on hold for 10 minutes at a time while the representatives spoke to their supervisor. None it apeared knows Sears' refund policy. I had to tell them what their website said about restocking fees on cancelled item. THERE IS NO RESTOCKING FEE! Finally after 3 weeks of calls, they got rude and told me to talk to the store and around and around it went. According to their website, Sears.com does NOT charge a restocking fee. And the store in Calcutti, Ohio charges a restocking fee! So now I'm fighting to get my money back. And this is to warn anyone considering doing business with Sears. If you don't want it, don't buy it from Sears. I found a NICER AND LESS EXPENSIVE compact refrigerator at Lowes. The salesman was very nice. I'm planning on buying a full sized refrigerator. I'll be going to Lowes instead of Sears., although I had my eye on a Kenmore. I will no longer buy a Sears product. They just lost a 30+ year customer. Their representatives and store owners are RUDE, UNKNOWLEDGEABLE and have NO CONCERNS for their customers. But then that's big business.

Fraudulent practices!
I attempted to purchase a TV via Sears.com, relying on their easy pick-up option. I found that the model I wanted was available at a store about 45 minutes from my home. and placed my order. The following morning, I received an e-mail from Sears indicating that the TV was ready for pick-up and instructing me to scan the bar code in the e-mail when I arrived. I did so, but was notified by store personnel that, in fact, they had no such TV. Very long story short: After hours and hours on the phone with customer service, maybe a dozen e-mail exchanges, and traveling to the store and back for no reason, I have an $1800 charge on my VISA for a TV that never existed. Apparently, once I scanned my e-mail, the TV shows as having been "shipped" and it may take a week or longer (I'm still waiting 10 days later) to reverse the error Sears made in selling a TV that it did not have. Customer service at Sears.com is quick to apologize, but does nothing... even though my transaction was with Sears.com, they indicate that the problem (i.e., MY problem) is with the store.

And... while all of this has transpired, I purchased the same TV via Amazon.com... free delivery and $500 cheaper... works great.

BUYER BEWARE: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SEARS.COM!
