Sears just cancelled my 6th service appt. today. I've been trying for six weeks to get my dryer repaired. It's still under warranty. The first person didn't have a clue what she was doing and told us to buy the extended warranty. 2nd, 5th, and 6th appointments, the service technician didn't show up. 3rd appt. they showed up, and ordered the part (actually knew what he was doing too!). 4th appt. had to be cancelled because the part wasn't in (it had been over a week since they ordered it and I was told it would take 3-5 days for the part to arrive). They cancelled today an hour and a half after my service window (6th appt). My husband and I have missed 3 days of work, other appts were on weekends, and still no repair. And it's not just the lack of service. The phone system at the customer service line REPEATEDLY hangs up on you. Mid-wait, mid-conversation, doesn't matter. I've spent HOURS on the phone on a single day trying to schedule appointments or to figure out if anyone is coming the day it was scheduled. One time I was told that in two and half hours or so (which would be 5 hours after my service window ended) i MIGHT receive a phone call letting me know if they were coming! A warning to anyone considering Sears. Don't use them. And if you do, don't buy the extended warranty. I'd much rather pay someone to come out and fix it at this point than have had seven service appts scheduled.
