Ten months and still under warranty, freezer stopped working. Phoned Sears service and they offered to send repairperson out that or next day. Three hours later, with food thawing, Sears calls and postpones service call for 10 days. Telephone person gives a phone # for a warranty company that has no dealings with Sears. After speaking with manager and others, they recommend putting all freezer food in styrofoam boxes with ice to wait 10 days (unless delayed again) for service agent to appear. Repeating that we are seniors in our 80's and dependent on our freezer and food storage they refuse any assistance. They tell us if we solicit private service to save our hundreds of dollars of frozen food, then their warranty will not hold.
We gave up a 40 year old functioning freezer for one of the new 'energy efficient' brands, and have noticed no savings on our electric bills only greater costs since...NOW we lose our preserved food and also have to buy another freezer ...it will not be from Sears. That name once was revered in our household, now it will be banned
