This company purports to be a high end firm that sells only to "THE TRADE". Every firm I have dealt with in the past has owned up to their errors and made things right in every sense.
In this case, we found a beautiful drapery fabric in stripes. We specifically asked if this was a vertical stripe as that is what we wanted. We were told in no uncertain terms that yes, this was a vertical run fabric and that the stripes would not run horizontal. The fabric came to the drapery fabricator and the drapes were fabricated. Unfortunately the fabric came as a horizontal run and not vertical as was represented. The drapery fabricator had no idea. They simply made the drapes to the length of the fabric as it was delivered.
We called Designer Furniture Galleries and they admitted that their sales associate was inexperienced and did not understand that we were looking for a vertical striped fabric and that the fabric we purchased and which had subsequently been fabricated into draperies was in fact a horizontal striped product. They offered to refund us what we paid for the fabric and that they would sell us replacement fabric at a discount. However, they would not pay for the cost to refabricate the drapes.
Now why should I pay twice for their mistake? I paid once to have drapes made and they sent the wrong fabric. The drapery fabricator had no way of knowing. A high end design firm would go the full nine yards to make this right. They are only halfway there in my mind and they should pay to replace the fabric and have the drapes remade. I am extraordinarily disappointed and I would never do business with these people again.
As a followup to this, my interior designer communicated to this firm my displeasure which made the owner mad and who subsequently withdrew the offer to reimburse us for their error, all the while fully admitting their error. Heck, she was only the messenger. So not only do they admit their error, they refuse to make it right because my interior designer's client (me) was upset and they got their feelings hurt. Big deal! Make it right and we'll come back with more business. Be a *** about it and I have no problem letting everyone know that they are not a reputable firm to work with. Stay tuned!!
If they don't make this right, I fully intend to contact every single interior design firm in the greater Seattle Metropolitan area and communicate what happened and encourage them not to do business with this firm.
