On or about May 2, 2009, I followed a promotional link to the website of Seattle Coffee Direct. I agreed to a $5 trial offer that had a cancellation window. Based on the promotional terms, I was supposed to receive a package with 2 lbs of coffee, 2 coffee mugs and 2 travel mugs. I supplied my debit matercard information that is attached to my bank account.
On 5/4/09, a debit was processed against my account for $25.00 from 'Metro Coffee'. This was not the agreed upon amount for these items. I called the 800 number to cancel my order and request a refund, but no one would help me. I immediately proceeded to send an email, but received no response.
I receieved the initial package which should have just cost $5 (not $25). Then, the lunacy began. I started receiving relentless charges from the company itemized as follows:
- 5/07/09 for $38.95
- 5/08/09 for $38.95
- 5/12/09 for $38.95
- 5/13/09 for $38.95
- 5/14/09 for $38.95
- 5/18/09 for $38.95
- 5/18/09 for $38.95
- 5/18/09 for $38.95
I had to cancel my debit card, which was a big inconvenience. So far, my bank has not even completed its review of the first $38.95 fraudulent charge. Seattle Coffee Direct has not answered any of my emails or letters. They have stolen $331.60 of my hard earned money.
