Secret of the Himalayan Reviews

Cosmetic connoisseur August 29, 2010
Prices & defects
During our 5th year Anniversary in Miami (We are from Canada), we went for shopping in Aventura Mall.
I usually keep my iphone & immediately check reviews or other options before purchasing products if I have any doubts. Except I did not have an access for the internet at that time.
The salesman showed us the Goji facial peel (99$, which is NOT a bad product) & eye cream (195$). He even showed me their company website. We were going to walk away, of course, he asked us where we were from. I suppose he felt bad. then he said he would give me “Goji facial peel” for free to try, he would only charge me 150$ for the eyecream.
Yes, I bought it. & I don't know why I did it because with the money I could've bought better quality well known products instead of products I've never heard of.
After coming back to Canada, I checked reviews.
I found out that you can buy the Goji facial peel (99.95$)for 34$, eye serum (199.95$) for 46$ on-line.
And the eye cream turned out like this ( Pls, check the image)
How can they sell this kind of product in shopping malls??? Very disappointing.
I've always appreciated people's reviews to help me to make right decisions.
And this is my turn.
Beware!!!

High pressure sale; no refund
I consider myself quite level-headed and resistant to scams, but I was no match for the high pressure salesmanship of the staff at the skin care product kiosk, Legend of the Himalayan. First they rope you in with "free samples" of the goji berry tea, the next minute you cannot extricate yourself because you have a palmful of exfoliating granules that you are obediently trying to rub off your hands. One product leads to another, your cries of resistance are met with enticing deals "just for you, " and next thing you know you're whipping out your credit card, partly for the relief of escaping this place. Of course, in your haste to get away, you don't notice the receipts say "no refunds, exchange only." You try to leave, but no, don't you want your free sample? Sit in this chair and try out these even more expensive products that you (didn't know before that you) can't live without. I was only able to leave after I said I'd get fired if I didn't get back to work. I'd really like to return these products, but I risk getting tangled in the Himalayan web again, and I know of another complainant who lamentably spent even more than I did and was not successful in returning her merchandise.

Perhaps the products are as good as they say, but I object to the high pressure sales tactics, and the no return policy; henceforth I will avoid the Legend of the Himalayan kiosk like the plague. Just call me the Abominated Snowed Lady.

Unfair Return Policy
On April 29, 2009, I purchased the following Secret of the Himalayan items at the Legend of the Himalayan kiosk in Westfield Southcenter Mall.

• Using my BECU VISA credit card:
Eye Crème, Warming Mask, Hydrosphere Eye Serum,
Line Remover Pen, Hunza Apricot Treatment,
Body Butter, Wrinkle Reducer, Moisturizer Crème,
Facial Cleanser, Facial Toner, Goji Facial Peel and
Skin Brightener Total $1, 439.93
(Three separate charges of $328.50, $1, 056.68, $54.75)
• Using my Mastercard debit card:
Warming Mask and Goji Facial Peel Total $54.75

Almost immediately after purchasing these items, I regretted the above transactions, especially the incurred credit card debt. Not only are the items totally out of character for my life style, I am retired and on a fixed income. I admit I have no reasonable explanation for why I was susceptible to the marketing skills of the salesman.

The next day, April 30, I attempted to return the unopened items for credit, but was told they could only be exchanged for merchandise. At this time, it was pointed out to me the company had a “no refund/exchange only” policy. Since I had purchased a total of approximately $1, 500 in products, an exchange didn’t make sense – I wanted a refund.

With repeated apologies, I explained to the sales representatives that I had made a huge mistake, that all of the items were intact and that I would appreciate their issuing a credit for all of the merchandise.

During this meeting, both of the salespersons appeared to speak on a cell phone to someone of higher authority. I was then informed a representative of the company would contact me to discuss the matter further.

As of May 4, I had not been contacted by the Legend of the Himalayan representative, and as a result I advised the BECU VISA card office that I wanted to dispute the charges. The credit card was canceled and an investigation would be initiated.

Numerous telephone attempts to reach said business were made at 206-241-4472 and I notified the salesperson Stan of my actions via email at [email protected].

On May 11, I submitted written reports to BECU regarding all of the transactions to my Mastercard debit card as well as the BECU VISA credit card.

Thank you for your assistance.
