MY FELLOW AMERICANS (same for CANADIANS). If you are considering adopting/purchasing a purebred puppy (any breed) from a Breeder, please consider going to a Shelter and adopting some poor soul that needs your help. Here's why: both the AKC and CKC have "limited powers" should you have the misfortune of getting involved with an unreasonable & abusive breeder. These kennel clubs WILL NOT disclose (for obvious reasons) any complaints other clients may have against a particular breeder. They (the Clubs) can only refer you to registered breeders in your area and the fact that they (the breeder in question) is a "member in good standing". This comment/classification MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING/DIDDLY SQUAT/NADA to the consumer (that's us). And what happens to "US" I care about (not only what happens to the dog).
Speaking from EXPERIENCE, I have (2) purebred dogs @ the present. One dog's breeder is an absolute GEM-- but the OTHER ONE (now that's a different "horror" story). I was duped by her demeanor PRIOR to the Sale of the dog. Well, after "the sale", I began discovering just HOW FAR she would go to make unreasonable demands/ continuous harassment/ and even false accusations (WAY, WAY OVERBOARD). Please, I urge you to take the sales contract to your lawyer BEFORE YOU SIGN...(you could be saving yourself the trouble of getting involved with "A DOG BREEDER from HELL" who refuses to get out of your (and your dog's) life.
