Sensible Home Warranty Reviews

NO SERVICE OR COMMUNICATION
My built-in microwave went out and a technician came out to look at it. He told me he would contact Sensible and get back with me. I called him a week later and he said they had not called him back. A week later I received a call from a representative and he left a message for me to call him back. I called back several times and he never called back. After a month of trying to contact him, I was able to catch him in his office and he explained that they were going to offer a payoff on my claim. He said that they would be sending a check. It is now June 9 and I have not received the check even though I have called the company and e-mailed them on numerous occasions. The operator even told me that they were sending the message to a supervisor and that it would be marked URGENT. I was assured that they would get right back to me. That was two weeks ago. I don't know what else to do! I have a two year contract with them and received nothing in return.

Breach of contract
Sensible Home Warranty failed to contact a reputable contractor within the 2 Business days timeframe. On 5/27/2011 at approximately 7:00pm, our air conditioner stopped functioning. At which time we contacted Sensible Home Warranty. We advised them that our thermostat needle was slightly passed the 90 degree mark and topped out. At the time, there were 3 people and 4 pets inside the house. We were told that a contractor would be calling us within 24hours to make an appointment. The next day when noone had contacted us, we (my husband and I) called back. We were advised that because of the holiday weekend, it would be difficult for someone to respond out to our location for the repair. We continued to explain that the temperature in the house was unbearable. Our pets would not stop panting and the temperature outside was at 95degrees. We reminded the the sales rep. that as stated in their contract, "In case of emergency a service contractor will be contacted immediately." They responded that the one contractor they use was unable to be contacted. We continued to call throughout the weekend and were told the same things. First, that the contractor was unable to be contacted and second, that is was a holiday weekend. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we continued to call. Then they advised that a new contractor had been contacted but it was found later that he could not service in our area. Also, we were advised that there was an overflow of calls they were receiving which prevented them to concentrate on our complaint. Also those days, I asked to be notified, one way or another, if a contractor had been attained. But they failed to do so and I was forced to call back everyday to inquire. Finally, today is Thursday, 6/2/11 at approximately 4:20pm, I contacted them and was advised that a contractor had been attained. I was given the information: All American Mechanical would be handling the claim. We have yet to be contacted by them.

Not reimbursing authorised claims
Had a really bad experience with their customer service. Our kitchen sink had some kind of stoppage which resulted in the water draining very slowly. Called Sensible Home Warranty - they asked us to go ahead and find a plumber to fix the issue and said they would reimburse it.

Called a plumber, and after trying a couple of things, he said the quickest way would be to try a snake through roof access. We confirmed this with the claim representative and he approved it. Got the work done… and now, comes the hard part.

After a number of follow ups, we are informed that because the issue was accessed through a roof, it would not be covered as per terms and conditions. I checked T&C and it says mainline stoppages not accessible through ground level clearance would not be covered.

Ours was not a main line stoppage - all other toilets, bathrooms, worked fine. Ours is an older house and thats why teh plumber felt it would be easier through roof access.

And the fact that their service representative approved it is apparently moot now.

For all I know, their service rep must have approved it knowing fully well that the claim can be refused or it must be a training issue.

The company is refusing to even acknowledge that only mainline stoppages are not covered.

And please note, this issue happened in early Jan and it has taken almost 4 months to get some kind of a response.

Will never go with them again

failing to honor warranty
this company is a big scam if you see the name dont even stop to look at the add. RUN!!! With all of he complaints i dont know how they have been allowed to remain in business. Is there some type of class action suite pending if so please count me in. I paid $392.00 for thewarranty for a year and when i needed it for my heat and air repair they said my wires were corroded and was not covered. My husband there when the service technician phoned in the report to the company and he wanted to trash the unit and relace it of course they denied the claim and twisted what the tech said and refused to pay and si that if i wanted to get a second opinion i could pay for it and have the unit rewired and repaird myself. Like i said a big ripoff, even the repair person said that paying this homewarranty company was abig rip off because he sees it all the the time that all they do is take peoples money ad refuse to pay their claims. like i said is there a attorney generals office or a bbb or someone out there that is a consumer watchdog that can stamp out these preditors.

no reimbursement on garbage disposal
I had a garbage disposal go out 3 months ago. Happened on a holiday;their service affiliates couldn't come out. We were told to get the service needed elsewhere and they would reimburse us. Not so, I have been told repeatedly, the check is in the mail. I would not recommend Sensible Home Warranty to my worst friend. They are crooked, lying, piss poor business people. I have turned it all over to an attorney and will continue to pass on their shortcomings to the world. DO NOT DO ANY TYPE BUSINESS WITH SENSIBLE UNLESS YOU WON'T TO THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY

Never, Never, Never use this Company!!!
I buy the General System Plan Annually insurance from this company in July 2010. This plan cover my A/C unit. in January 2, the unit was out of work. We called the company and filed a claim. They never reply me even if I called them twice a day. Finally, about 10 days later (we had to live in very cold days), they just deny my claim. The reason is I did not keep to maintain the A/C, did not replace some parts even if they work well. What a joke! The A/C works well when I buy the insurance from SHW. SHW just want to get money from me and never do what they should do. They just want to take your money and do nothing. I am reporting my case to BBB and also want my money back from SHW. I will let your guys know the following up.

Doesn't honor contract
I purchased a Home Warranty from Sensible the Complete package. I had 2 claims the first was my disposal which they put up a stink about fixing it but did.
Well the big one came in July 30, 2010 when my A/C went out. I called them they sent out there contractor and this guy didn't even know how to hook up the gauges finally figured that out told me I have no Freon I told him I had the A/C serviced 2 months ago and they put more Freon in it. So he left. I called Simon and told him he said that the guy that was out said he wasn't going to work on it because someone else put Freon in it. Which they tell you keep your A/C serviced.
Moving along 1 week I had to have the whole unit replaced. I was told to do it and then I would get reimbursed WRONG. I have been fighting with Simon, Jared for over 2 weeks now. They said I did not have the unit serviced I sent them all my repair bills. Still nothing this company is a BIG SCAM..THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY BUT DON'T GIVE YOU THE SERVICE..BEWARE.
I filed a complaint with the BBB which shows Jared as the main man but the letter I received was signed by Harris E. Gindy President..HMMM funny. he is no where to be found..could be its because he is in the UK.
If you have problems with this company file a complaint with the BBB and then with the Attorney General in Nev. because thats the address they use.
IF YOU HAVN'T BOUGHT A WARRANTY FROM THEM STAY AWAY YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF BURNING YOUR MONEY ..CROOKS

will not honor coverage or give refund
Purchased the General plan to cover the AC, when the AC went out, they tried to say I purchased the Essential plan, which did not cover the AC. I have documentation to prove what I purchased. They will not send anyone out and refuse to correct their mistake. They quickly offered a refund, which I have yet to receive and it's been over a month! No AC, no refund, no assistance...fraud and scams!

questionable website practice
I went to Sensible Home Warranty's website to sign up for their premium plan. I entered a 10% promo code at the top of their webpage and selected the option to pay monthly for $33 per month. Total cost for a year was $394 but I only wanted the monthly option. A message on the first page of the online application said that I would see a 10% discount on the last page of the application.

After entering my credit card info a page appeared showing my cc would be charged $33. I called the company to ask why I was not given the 10% discount and the salesperson said it was applied if I paid for the full year in one lump payment. After telling him that I did not see that condition on the website--he then told me that because I lived in Texas I would not be able to get the $33 per month option. I told him that I already received an email confirmation that I was getting the $33 per mo. option and that they should honor it. After he said he would figure out a way to help me (but never offered the $33 monthly option) I told him I found it suspicious and wanted to cancel the order. After several minutes of insisting on the cancellation and saying I was calling my bank to make a stop on the purchase, he agreed to it but said I would have to wait an hour for a cancellation confirmation number. I told him I would not wait and was calling my bank and hung up the phone. A few minutes later, a person from the company called me and said he was from billing. He said that the sale had been canceled and my cc would not be charged--he provided me with a cancellation number. He also said that the salesperson I spoke with was concerned that I was calling the bank and he wanted to assure me that my cc information would not be sold or used and that the sale was deleted from their system.

What concerned me was that the salesperson said that their website needed to be updated and it should have shown that Texas does not accept the monthly rate. He claimed that they were in the process of updating it and would show it in a few days. I quickly decided not to do business with them, but concerned that this company had my cc information. I called my bank and explained the situation and a stop is being placed on the charge and I will watch my account very closely. Unfortunately, I did not read online complaints until after making the purchase with them.
