questionable website practice
I went to Sensible Home Warranty's website to sign up for their premium plan. I entered a 10% promo code at the top of their webpage and selected the option to pay monthly for $33 per month. Total cost for a year was $394 but I only wanted the monthly option. A message on the first page of the online application said that I would see a 10% discount on the last page of the application.
After entering my credit card info a page appeared showing my cc would be charged $33. I called the company to ask why I was not given the 10% discount and the salesperson said it was applied if I paid for the full year in one lump payment. After telling him that I did not see that condition on the website--he then told me that because I lived in Texas I would not be able to get the $33 per month option. I told him that I already received an email confirmation that I was getting the $33 per mo. option and that they should honor it. After he said he would figure out a way to help me (but never offered the $33 monthly option) I told him I found it suspicious and wanted to cancel the order. After several minutes of insisting on the cancellation and saying I was calling my bank to make a stop on the purchase, he agreed to it but said I would have to wait an hour for a cancellation confirmation number. I told him I would not wait and was calling my bank and hung up the phone. A few minutes later, a person from the company called me and said he was from billing. He said that the sale had been canceled and my cc would not be charged--he provided me with a cancellation number. He also said that the salesperson I spoke with was concerned that I was calling the bank and he wanted to assure me that my cc information would not be sold or used and that the sale was deleted from their system.
What concerned me was that the salesperson said that their website needed to be updated and it should have shown that Texas does not accept the monthly rate. He claimed that they were in the process of updating it and would show it in a few days. I quickly decided not to do business with them, but concerned that this company had my cc information. I called my bank and explained the situation and a stop is being placed on the charge and I will watch my account very closely. Unfortunately, I did not read online complaints until after making the purchase with them.

better read te fine print
make sure you read the fine print on your contract. On 7-17-20010 I called Sensible Home Warranty to let them know that our AC went out. I was told that some one would call me back in 24-48 hrs. in which they did, just to be told that all of thier service contractors was tied up till the first of August and that we could get someone in our self and they would pay for it. we got someone in to re pair it, they told us that it couldnt be repaired and we would need a new one. so i call Sensible back and told them and they talk to the repair man them self. then they told me to fax the price in to they so they could see if it would cover it and to send in maintenance records with it and I told them that I didnt have any records and they said that it had to be service every 6 month in order for the warranty would cover it and if it was not it would void the warranty, and I told them that when we bought the warranty the person didnt tell us anything about having to keep up on maintenance before the warranty would take care of it and said we should have read the fine print on the contract, so they have refused to replace the AC. I thinks that this company is a joke, an would not recommend it at all!!!

Reimbursement
My heat went out in early 6 Dec 2009. I called them and asked how long would it take to fix. They said it would take several days to get one of there contractors to fix it. I told them that it was freezing weather and could not wait. They said I could call someone local and they would reimburse me. After numerous phone calls and e-mails, I have not heard from them. My e-mail is [email protected]
Thanks Tim

SCAM Home Warranty

Won't pay on claim
This company is terrible. My dishwasher stopped working the Friday before Thanksgiving. I called to have someone come and find out what is wrong and get it fixed. It took numerous phone calls and everyday they told me someone will call you to set up an appointment. NO ONE CALLED. After a week and a half they finally got someone to look at my dishwasher. Now they will not pay to have it repaired, because the dishwasher is too old. There is nothing in the contract that said if an appliance was over a certain age they would not fix or replace it. I still had to pay the $45 service fee to the repairman and my dishwasher is still not fixed. I am putting in a complaint to the NY Attorney General, because just like some others they would not give me the name of the owner or a supervisor to contact. Supposedly, they will call me back when they hear from their claims department. Yeah right! I have also contacted my attorney. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY THEY ARE TAKING YOUR MONEY AND NOT HONORING THEIR CONTRACTS. Tobi Gary, Lemon Grove, CA. [email protected]

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
I used this company to provide a home warranty when selling my home. A year later they billed me again! When trying to resolve the issue I called multiple times a day for over a week and was regularly put on hold for over 15 minutes, occasionally hung up on while on hold and the billing department was in a meeting for a week! I left so many messages to which I never got a return call I felt like a stalker. To this day this issue is under review by my bank who will most likely resolve the issue before I ever speak with the appropriate person at Sensible.

LETS SUE THESE THIEVES
WE JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED AND OUR REFRIGERATOR WENT OUT SEVERAL WEEKS LATER. tHE TECH CAME OUT AND SAID IT NEEDED A COMPONENT REPLACED. NATIONWIDE THEN CLAIMED THEY NEEDED MAINTENANCE RECEIPTS BEFORE THEY COULD AUTHORIZE ANY REPAIRS.MEANWHILE ALL OF OUR FOOD HAD SPOILED. FROM READING THE COMMENTS IT APPEARS THAT THEY HAVE A PATTERN AND PRACTICE OF DENYING CLAIMS WITH THESE TYPE OF EXCUSES. WE ARE ATTEMPTING TO GET OUR MONEY REFUNDED. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVE HUNG UP ON US AFTER WE TRIED TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. THEY ALWAYS CLAIM THAT THERE IS NO MANAGER AVAILABLE TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES. I AM ASSUMING THAT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WILL BE IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. I JUST WISH WE WOULD HAVE DONE MORE RESEARCH PRIOR TO BUYING THIS FRIVILOUS HOME WARRANTY PRODUCT. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE.

BUYERS BEWARE
BUYER BEWARE! This company should not be in business. After 4 phone calls, a tech finally came out to repair our dryer. After the tech left (without repairing our dryer), Sensible refused to authorize the repair because we don’t have maintanance records. Who pays someone to come out and look at appliances that work fine? We have had home warranties from other companies in the past and never had these problems. I am very upset with the entire situation.

Sensible Home Warranty - THEIFS
DO NOT USE SENSIBLE THIS COMPANY IT IS A SCAM!!! I had put in my first claim for a water softener and was denied due to not have records on it. I bought the house 1.5 yrs ago don’t know previous owners did not leave any papers on anything. I told them the unit was working fine till now. They put me on hold 4x for over and hr at a time. Spoken to a so called supervisor 2x and was told with out maintenance papers I will have to pay out of pocket. Why did I pay extra then for this? I them told them that the home owner does the maintenance on the unit, put salt in it and backwash it why would I pay someone to do that? I left AHS due to high cost and not covering everything I wanted now I am sorry I did that. I even had my friend sign with Sensible. I already filed a complaint with the BBB and also request a refund or a new unit. This company does need to be stop in ripping people off.

Sensible Home Warranty Sucks
I used Sensible Home Warranty also, But I contacted my bank about this situation and was refunded my money for “Services not Render”. So contact your Banks ASAP for refunds. I signed up with them back in July 2009. Just called my bank today 09/10/09 I will be getting a full refund. I did speak with a lawyer but they can’t find this company to suit. So just spread the word in your city or state.

Sensible Home Warranty Scam
SENSIBLE HOME WARRANTY IS A SCAM!!
I have never been taken like this in my life.
I am so mad about denied claims, then I go on line and see numerous complaint boards about them…all the same complaints. Do something and contact the authorities. Sensible is located in NY. New York Attorney General Cuomo has already sued one home warranty company in April 2009..for the exact same things going on with Sensible. They will be next if we, the consumers, stand up for our rights. I have filed a complaint with the NY Attorney General, the FTC, the NY State Dept. of Insurance, and the NY Better Business Bureau. My next step is to duplicate the complaints with the same agencies in my state of FL. From reading, it appears many have done the same, so hopefully Sensible will be out of business soon..
Take the time and file complaints..especially with the New York Attorney General!!
THEY ARE NOT IN NEVADA THEY ARE IN NEW YORK - ACCORDING TO THE WHISTLE BLOWER!!!
