On December 31 we checked into The Serrano Hotel near Union Square and put our car in a garage through their valet parking service. Their valets sideswiped several parking barriers and caused $1200 of damage to the car. The hotel refused to take any responsibility for the damage, saying the claim had to be made through the valet service, called ProPark. Pro Park denied the claim, saying we could have damaged the car ourselves. Both Pro Park and Kimpton Hotels, to which we appealed, have zero accountability for their services. We had been exclusively Kimpton Hotel clients since 2003 and, in San Francisco, exclusively Serrano Hotel customers. Hotel guests beware -- do not let valet services park your car. Neither the hotel nor the service will accept any responsibility for damage they cause. And all that customer loyalty that Kimpton Hotels claims in their marketing and advertising is a pack of lies. They could not care less.
