fire
we had a garage and carport fire. Our insurance adjuster called in Serv pro to come in and deep clean our house, shampoo carpets. My husband was at the house daily working with everyone who was here. Serv Pro moved our refrigerator without putting anything under it to protect the hardwood floors. When they did this they put gouges and scartches in the floor. The ice maker was full of water that they didn't empty so water spilled out on the floor and sat their. My husband told them they better get the floors dried before they buckle up and warp. They brought in these great big heaters and sat them directly on the floor. My husband kept telling the job manager, she better protect those floors. The job manager told my husband they had finished deep cleaning and were going to shampoo the carpets next. I stopped by the house to take alook at it, and was very surprised when I got their. The walls had not been washed, their were black cobwebs on everything, the showers were not cleaned, neither were the countertops, windows or floors. The guys were shampooing my carpets at the time, also from Serv Pro and had there big machines and hoses ran through my house on my hardwood floors. My husband had been telling them all to please protect the hardwoods or they would have to replace them too. They had piled furniture and other stuff in both bathrooms without any protection. My solid oak coffe table had been put in the master bathroom, which has hardwood floors, with nothing under it. I did a walk thru with the one guy who seemed like he was in charge and showed him how dirty it was and what needed to be done. He said he would come back the next day, (saterday) to clean and get it all done. It happened to be mothers day weekend and I told him, I did not expect him to do it until monday because of that. His project manager called me while I wa s their, so I told her how unhappy I was with the cleaning. She said that she had done it and it was very nice on wednesday when she left. I knew it had not been done at all, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. She said she would send 3 new girls out the next morning and asked if I could come to the house in the afternoon to do a walk thru with them. I said I would. The next morning my husband said that I should go up early in the morning and make sure they were their and to make sure they didnt leave too early and not do a good job. I arrived at about 10:50 am, as I came around the corner they were passing me.The driver stopped and said do you want me to turn around and do a walk thru. I said, of course. The driver and I went in the house, I looked at the walls, and said, did you wash these, she said yes we did. I saw the same stuff on the walls as I had seen the day before. The black marks were still on the the back bedroom wall from the firemen when they had gone into the attic. I asked her about that, she said quote, "I took pictures to show the job manager". I asked her if they had wiped down the pictures on the walls, and she said yes. We got to the bathroom, and I asked her if they mopped the floor in their and she said oh yes and did you clean the shower, oh yes, as I saw foot prints all over the floor and in the tub/shower floor. I was shocked she would lie to my face like that. We went into the kitchen and I asked if they washed the counters and floor, oh yes again and I see stuff all over the countertops, and then I notice all the scratches and gouges and drag marks in the hardwood floors. I said how did this happen, she said, I don't know. Then I said I do, from the carpet shampooers from the day before. We walked into the master bathroom and I see the same thing in their. She says it was us 3 girls that moved everything out of the bathrooms and put it all away. I said well the coffee table was sitting right here and look at the horroble scratch mark from it. She said it wasnt from us. I then went to look at my table, and on the same side it was sitting on it was all scratched down to the bare wood.I called the job manager once again and told her about the damage that had been done. I told her I took pictures of everything, she asked if I could e-mail them to her that evening, I did. The next day I was told we would be dealing with the owner of the company. I set up an appt. to meet with her. She came out with the job manager, my husband and I showed her everything. The owner said that quote, "people need to expect some damage when they have so many people in their home doing work". She also offered us $300.00 for the hardwood floors and coffee table. She also said that you cannot protect one part of the floor while drying the other part. Of course we said no to the $300.00 dollars. Now our insurance company is paying to refinish the floors.
