My college aged son broke my vacuum while I was out of town over the
holidays and went to this store to purchase me a new one as a
surprise. When I returned home I realized this was not the vacuum I
would have purchased, so I called Sew Vac and explained my situation-
this was the day following our 3rd huge snowfall in as many weeks. I
had purchased two vacuums from this store over the previous 25 years
and was confident it would not be a problem. Instead I was told that
after 10 days nothing could be done-blizzards, gifts, out of town-
none of these circumstances out-weighed their policy. My
understanding was that within 10 days I could return the vacuum and
after some time on the phone, the owner also agreed to consider an
exchange-but wanted me to try it first.
After giving the vacuum a try and not liking it, I asked my son for
the receipt and found that if I went in that day, I would be within
the 10 day exchange time-which I did, in 100 mph wind gust from our
latest round of weather-but I didn't want to miss my chance to return
the vacuum. Instead I discovered that I could only exchange, not
return the vacuum within the 10 days-no exceptions made. To make a
long story short, I was forced to purchase another vacuum I did not
want for an additional $300.. Oh, wait, they did do me the insulting
service of granting me a 5% discount for the fact that they only had
the floor model and throwing in a box of bags, whoo-hoo!
I've now spent way more on a used vacuum I did not want, at a place
that I will not return to for service or any other purchase in the
future.
