where are my 'basic' channels?
Ok...my bill is already humiliating with Shaw. Now, 2 nights ago I tried to click on Bravo - nope - AMC - same thing. I WAS getting these channels with teir 3 - basic - before. (Currently pay for digital and HD - teir 3 is not an 'option' anymore) Nay Nay! I called, and was told that an additional 10.00 was required to recieve these 2 'fail-safe' channels - as in the ones I watch at night if there is nothing else on. Today, I tried CNBC and Spike - nope. I assume that this means an additional charge will be applied to get these as well. With the added bonus of having to call, wait, and ask the correct questions before I get any answers. Also, my HD Golf is gone, but I can get it without HD. Enough. I want to switch to something else. Since when does the reward for loyalty (read: Shaw's monopoly) include being screwed out of channels that used to be included?

shaws new digital bo
i got a call from shaw, trying to get me to buy a digital box so i could recieve 5 more station the stations did not apeal to me so i declined and never thought much more about until one day i tried to watch channel 41
it was gone and what was in its place an ad from shaw saying if i wanted that station i would have to buy a digital box they have done that with our channel 30 also how very clever these people are im just guessing at this but at thier first attempt to sell us digital boxes did not go wel for them so some moron came up with a new plan to screw us im waiting now for the next statment to arrive to see if the amount is lower it better be or their gonaa find a raccoon in thier hen house, do these people read the paper or listen to the news america economy is circleing the drain, our economy is not far behind them and as a small business owner i watched my sales drop by 60% in three years the price of the new box is really not a lot i believe around three dollars a month per customer the bottom line for their corporate greed, im guessing big bucks i hope a lot of people go after them to voice their opinion and those of you that dont want make any trouble well you can stand there with the lamb at the slaughter house door and wait your turn

Was contacted by shaw try to get me to hook up some sort I'd digital box. The box would add I think 5 more stations. Which really sucked so I declined. And I think so did a lot of people. Shaws next move wAs to remove some of the more popular stations we already had and put them in thier new digital qbox trying to force us to buy this dam box. I wonder if my cable billis going to be lower now. I doubt it. Corporate greed strikes again. I feel like the lamb wAiting at the slaughter house door !!! I reAlly hope others are pissed also A voice thier opinion to shaw as for me. I'm going to have them disconnect my cable They can go and f them selves.

theft
Two installers for shaw cable showed up at my elderly parents home. As one kept my mother busy the other ransacked the kitchen and master bedroom. he ended up stealing seven hundred and fifty dollars. The most agravating part is Shaw is treating my parents as the criminals telling them it is their own fault for having money in the house

Billing Scam
Beware of these scammers. Actually, maybe it's not fair to call them scammers -- they are just inept. I signed up for a package deal (against my better judgement) which was to include internet, Cable and Digital phone. They called it the Novus Package - $54.00+tax. I pre-paid 3 months in advance and today (2 months later), my services shut off. I called to find out what was going on and their explaination was as follows:
Because the technician had yet to initiate the phone jack (I was out of town, it was scheduled for Nov 15) they were charging me thier "regular" price for the other two services until the phone was active -- ie: $250+. Not a price I ever agreed to and their answer to me (after 2 hours of hold time) was basically "tough". Now I'll have to deal with this in court, more than likely, simply to protect my credit.
I'm not surprised, I should have known better. I've had trouble with these idiots and their inability to apply promo codes before. Kepp an eye on your bill and NEVER pre-auth payments.

Placed on hold & ignored
Shaw cable advertises a 24 hour service to win your custom yet tonight on Friday the 4th of June 5, 2010 I have been on hold once for 30 min but the problem wasnt resolved and now the second time I have been on hold for an 1 hour and 12 minutes. This is unacceptable service as they could easily place you on a call back list so you as a customer arent inconvenienced but it seems that Shaw cable doesnt really care once they have your money you can stay on the phone forever listening to their stupid taped message, Im sorry all our representatives are serving other customers over and over again. Lucky for them they have a monopoly on the service but unfortunately very unlucky for us.

Service
I made the error in choosing Shaw as a land line provider. It has taken nearly a month for them to activate my cable at a new home. I have been without phone service other then cell for 11 days... no 911 service etc. I have been waiting for 4 hours for the installer to finally show up... its now 15 minutes until the end of the 4 hour window I was given and no one here yet. This company has a virtual monopoly if you live in a condo... virtually all condo's do not allow dish services and Telus has made no ingress to speak of in the cable market for condo's. Despite this they are allowed to provide totally inadequate service levels and customer service when you are finally able to contact them have a you have no options but us... so what you gonna do .. not have TV attitude that no other company could survive with ... unless they were allowed to have a monopoly.

billing scam
For those who may have temporarily been uanble to keep their Shaw Cable account current - if Shaw Cable "disconnects" you, be aware that they will continue to charge you as if you are receiving full cable services. Apparently you can plug your television directly into the cable outlet & continue to receive full cable service for channels 1-59 as if you were never disconnected & regardless of whether you were aware that you can by-pass their "disconnection". This way Shaw can have its cake & eat it too - disconnect you but still charge you during that time.

Stealing Modem
Was an on and off customer for a few years (5) as i went to college untill this year i decided to cancel my account like i usually did when i go home from the dorms. This time my modem was labeled as a rental modem, the one I had been using for years and they demanded i return their property.
Talking with customer service it boiled down to "do you have a receipt?" and being a student I don't nessisary keep receipts from 4+ years ago. They informed me there was absolutely nothing that could be done without that peice of paper no mater how improbable it was that i had rented the same modem (Serial Number) for my entire shaw lifetime (never returning it after i'd cancel for the summer before either)it was now a rental.
I am going to have give them my modem that they seem to want so badly or pay 300 dollars... so congratulations shaw you muscled my old modem away from me!

Hacker attempts!
I am sick and tired of all of the repeated attempts by users of shawcable.net to access ports on my computer. I am on the internet every day. When I check my firewall log, there has been at least 50 attempts by computers with Shaw Cable IP addresses. Shaw needs to crack down on this. They also make it hard to contact them if your are not actually one of their customers!!!
