I have worked at the Vergennes Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. for four years. (Do you waste your breath and time filling out an application form). Every staff member thinks they 'own' the store and is the manager. The Employees are backstabbing, drama-hounds and love to cause negative hype in the store. The Managers do not care about your opinion and are full of lies. Their sanitation is only brought into attention, when it's 'word of mouth' that the Food Safety is in the store. Meat is left out in above room temp. for hours, and they do not care about their staff to customers. The Deli Staff and Bakery Staff are very rude and swear. (and this is advertised as 'You neighborhood grocery store' - where children pass by these areas, often. There are frequent times when rotten fruit to expired goods are hidden to not removed. (They have a survey, the staff in every department is given to fill in. This survey claims it wants to know how we can improve the store). None of the voices are heard of how to help get more customers in. Customer service is rude to makes scenes, and does not help the situation simmer down in agitation for the customer. Sexual stories are spoken out-loud for the public to hear while passing by. You are promised to be trained properly, and there is no real communicative skills used by the staff and mangers (you basically never really know how to do your job right) <- no one is on the same page. If there is an issue that needs to be addressed, do not press your luck with thinking it will be handled properly - or taken care of at all. Mistakes are covered-up and food safety to heath risks are continuously broken. There is simply no professionalism at all in this store and you need to be a butt-kisser, or snotty child to get anywhere. (Managers who are hired as of now, do not have any prior experience in the field they are pursuing). The last manager was hired due of her mother being in charge of 'Customer Service.' I have almost gave my two weeks notice in thought, at least five times. I am happy, I am no longer working there soon.
