I am a regular customer who has been coming to this store for months. I needed quarters because my apt flooded so after working two jobs I went here and "Skip" helped me. I was so thankful he was willing to give me quarters for my 3 dollars. I thanked him profusely but when I walked out the door I realized he had only given me 2.50. I normally would not care but I am a broke college student and needed to clean my soaked blanket! I went back in and he immediately became defensive and laughed and seemed offended. I was very polite and even called him "sir". He then asked me for the quarters so I gave them to him. He rudely threw back my 3 dollars and said, "Here's your three dollars back!". I was stunned and horrified at his rudeness. I have a dying grandfather and a drenched apt! Just a reminder that we never know what people are going through and how important it is to be kind to people. NEVER GO TO THIS SHELL AND IF ED THE MANAGER HAS ANY SENSE HE'LL FIRE SKIP.

On November 19, 2009 I received a call from Shell Oil stating I was two months behind in payments. Even though my November statement showed no back balance on it.

I knew this not to be true, I had to give Shell my bank number and they took out $10 for minimum payment. Shell representative gave me a fax number to submit a copy showing where my payments had cleared the bank.

I did not hear anything from Shell Oil. I finally had to call them on the November 30, 2009 and checked on my balance. My account was still not corrected, I talked to a Shell representative who stated they could not read my fax.

I enlarged my fax and resent again. I received my latest bill on November 30, 2009. Shell had increased my interest rate to 33.+%. Shell's little idiot message stated I had done this.

I have sent Shell a letter stating I will pay the last two charges on the card and nothing more. I will be reporting this to the credit bureaus with copies of my payments that have cleared the bank. I have decided to cancel my Shell Oil card.

Do not do business with Shell Oil they have horrible accounting practices and try to con you out of additional monies.

Just over a week ago I received a notice in the mail concerning proposed changes of terms to my Shell gasoline credit card account. Early on in the provided literature there was a notice that account holder could opt out of the proposed changes by calling the inserted toll free telephone number. I elected to do so immediately.

I have done this on a few occasions with other credit card accounts over the years with no additional or negative affects on my account, so I was disinclined to read farther into the provided information where there was also a notice that if you opted out of the proposed changes the account would be closed.

I found out abruptly and very inconveniently the next day, however, when I attempted to purchase gasoline. Upon calling customer service when I reached home I was told that indeed my account had been shut down because of my opting out of the proposed increases in fees and other changes, and that it could not be reopened regardless of any circumstances. They said my only option was to wait for at least a month and then I could re-apply for approval of a new account, just as any new applicant would.

I have had this account active and in good standing for over thirty-six years with Shell Oil, with account balances as high as $1, 100 dollars. Obviously, all that good business and customer good will amounts to absolutely nothing.

I am not alleging that this company has done anything illegal, but I do believe that I have been treated with unnecessary disrespect and a total lack of appreciation for good business and excellent account management for over thirty-six years (account was opened in May, 1972).

I acknowledge that the error was my responsibility (not reading the change of terms notice completely and thoroughly), but there was absolutely no sensitivity or consideration provided by this company upon my providing the circumstances of my error. While this kind of behavior may not be in violation of the law, I think it is a good example of unethical business practices and also of the cold, callous and contemptuous nature that some businesses can adopt toward small accounts, especially if they suffer no significant consequences from that kind of attitude and behavior.

I just today stopped to make a purchase of a full tank of gas. Purchase price was $3.48 cents per gallon that equals to the amount of $43.84 cents not to mention the two (2) beverage drinks I had planned on pruchasing. Most likely a total purchase amount of $45.32 cents. I was asked to submit information at the pump such as debit/ ATM card? I was using my Visa card and then it wanted my Zip code and that is when I turned the pump off and entered the service station to volumteer my information that I had come there to make purchases of gasoline and soft drinks and that I did not come there to give my life history or personal information that is of no ones business unless I volunteer to give it. IN OTHER WORDS I WAS RESTRAINED FROM MAKING A PURCHASE!!!
I understand it is your policy...IT IS NOT MINE! Customer friendly is the key to "continued" success. I am discouraged now of using a Shell Card, I am discouraged to waste my time and yours on information that pertains to nothing as far as making a product purchase with an advertized acceptance purchase by any of these cards pasted to the pump. Either you want my business or you do not. It makes no difference to me and 10's of thousand other honest hard working purchasing citizens of these United States. We go through life trying to eliminate inconvienences and not passively accept a inconvience that some nerdy, wing tipped, blue suit, red tie, middle management mooron decided to place before the board to gain attaboys or merits for some stupid nonsence plan that he thought of while pulling up sports scores on his cell phone. There is such a thing as KISS...Keep It Simple Stupid! There is another saying that makes so much sense...DO NOT FIX IT IF IT ISN'T BROKEN! I have been buying gasoline for 47 years ( I am 63) and I just can not imagine a Major Oil Company taking on such a ignorant policy of not producing a product over a 5 digit zip code refusal. Apparently there is a real lack of management skills in your organization and the man at the top will soon realize when the year in profit lines are not making double digits again. That is my say and I am sticking with it. Now you have the ball and you can continue being ignorant or find an itelligent form for the public to make purchases with out giving the world their personal history! I do not want to hear this is for Security reason. By me not having to give out information that I do not wish to give out has never in my 63 years prevented me from making purchases until this day in the year of 2008 when I...happened to choose a Shell Oil Company gas station for service. I can assure you that if I see a Shell Station anytime I drive down a boulevard...my reaction will be, look for a 7 -11.
