I am annoyed by this company. They were having a workshop for photographers and a model search, where models and photographers paid a package deal to go there. Models were supposed to have the opportunity to compete for a one year modeling contract. Nothing happened as advertised. There was supposed to be a complementary meet and greet for models with wine and appetizers. This did not happen. It was just a general meet and greet for models and photographers with complimentary tequila. A little frustrating, but not yet over the top.
The next evening was supposed to be a casual photo shoot. It was really a red carpet event, where you could walk down the carpet, and people would try and take your picture, but there was no opportunity to exchange business cards, so you could get the pictures. Photographers couldn't get model releases or anything.
The big thing was that your picture was supposed to be taken by a professional playboy photographer. You were supposed to get copies of these pictures. I never received anything weeks later.
These pictures were supposed to be how they chose a winner. The last night of the event, they said they needed more time to choose someone, but they would know in the next few weeks. Nothing has been posted now about a winner. Now, they are just continuing the scam of saying that they are looking for models to enter another contest. They now have modelmayhem working with them, when before it was onemodelplace. At least, on modelmayhem, they admit that you might not be offered a contract, but the winner will win 1, 000 dollars no matter what. They still haven't even announced a winner from the last competition! I think they forgot about this. I doubt anyone will win anything in this next contest!
On their website, they write all these positive comments about how the event went. Photographers were actually really pissed about the workshop. They had to sit around for hours between shoots. There was too many photographers to hired playboy models for the event. The whole event was not well organized, and went over schedule. It was pretty bad. They did not ask for feedback after, and they admitted things had not run smoothly. On their website now, it says all the photographers had the time of their lives!
The speakers (playboy photographers) seemed like genuinely nice people, but the event was not run professionally and did not delivered what was promised.
I am really upset when people think they can get away with false advertising, and not deliver on their promises.
This whole modeling competition is a complete scam!
