I don't normally make issues or complaints about random things, neither am i too choosy or picky - so everyone gets the benefit of doubt when i expect some product or service i pay for. But, this time it is very important that i bring to consumers notice of the bad shopping experience i have had with www.shopofbrides.com. Right from the word go... they have messed up at every step. The instructions were simple, i ordered 2 wedding dresses, with completely separate types and separate shipping addresses. The orders were placed in Sept. I was promised that the dresses would be ready by Oct... Some time in oct, i started sending mails to them and the person concerned was just not replying - she totally ignored my mails and i was left to coordinate with a online chat person - who's only reply was "I will ask my manager - she is not in today" !!! Though the girl tried (she said she did), there was no response, update, mail or communication from the manager. I had to literally message and mail and call them (India to China) everyday for a month - before i got a response saying they had messed the embroidery and were planning to re-make the dress !! Another fortnight later i received a mail from them saying the dresses were ready, but they needed the manager to be available to take pictures... a fortnight later, probably bugged by me constantly calling them on the phone - i received the pictures of the 2 dresses. But alas, one of them in the wrong color. So, here i was utterly late for a wedding and a dress with the wrong color. When i tried to refuse one dress as it was in error and asked them to send me only one - they refused to send either. Finally, i gave in - as it was important for me to receive the dresses, paid the difference (50 USD discounted) and asked them to be careful with the shipping !! And guess what ?????? they messed up all over again ... they sent both the dresses to the wrong address, and also gave me a tracking number to some Chinese site - which dint update regularly..and therefore... many more calls to china again :(
I could've understood, if they had made any of these mistakes - in isolation... but to mess up so many times in one order - gosh !! its horrible. So, here is the advise, please don't touch the company with a barge pole - if you want to have a tension free wedding ... and if you are tempted with the prices / website ... read this post a couple of times again and stay away from them !!!
(P.S. - I have not mentioned the name of any particular person i have interacted with in shop of brides - as this is a very professional complaint against the company and did not want it to get personal)
by the way... its Nov 15th 2010 today and i am still hoping the dress arrives !!!
