Total and complete scammers
I sent the company this email below. Based on other comments I will just get the RMA to return, call my mastercard company to refute all charges for this fraudulent company. I did not get the camera I ordered. I need to return, and I definitely do not plan to pay for shipping or restocking since the errors are all due to ShopDigitalDirect, NOT me the consumer.
1. I placed an order online for the silver Canon XSi and received a black one. I spoke with Chris and he said it was in the company policy. Where is this listed for consumers to read? I searched online and saw nothing of the sort *because it's not there*
Post online, I was contacted by Chris who did a great job of selling me a battery and charger - I did not realize that it was not included. He also then 'upgraded' my lens to glass vs. plastic. Both with the battery/charger and lens I was told a specific dollar value attached to t was not explained to me/I did not realize that the whole camera 'package' was swapped out. The way he chatted, I thought they were simply added as line items.
All this to get to my next point: the day following conversation with Chris (post online order), I called him back and told him I wanted to cancel out the battery/charger and wanted them taken off the order. Again, keep in mind it wasn't explained to me that the whole package was swapped, I thought they were simply added and could be simply removed.
2. *Chris told me no problem, he would remove the items*.
I'm not happy with getting the wrong color, getting the batteries/charger that came along with that package, and most of all being mislead. I'm not happy with being told that it would cost me a boatload to return the product when clearly I am not at fault on either count.
3. So lastly, IF ShopDigitalDirect does not RMA this camera free of a restocking charge, or issue a UPS pickup on their cost, not mine, I am quite prepared to track down and find the blogs, review sites, BBB and all possible venues to make my concerns as public as possible. I am also in the process of writing to my MasterCard company to refute the charges and have them fully reversed.
I do not like going this route, but feel I don't have much of a choice. In conversation with Chris this morning, he certainly did not leave much room for discussion.

False advertisement
I stupidly ordered a Canon Vixia HF10 from this bogus company this morning for a super low price of $450 something dollars. Someone from them called me back wanting to sell more stuff and the camera i ordered came with only japanese instructions. Suspiciously, i checked this site's ratings/reviews and sure enough all came negative. Very fishy so i told my credit card company to immediately "Do not Authorize" this charge and cancelled my card altogether. Do not order from this company at all!! Now, if we can reprogram the coordinates for the next predator hellfire missile run...

false advertising / misrepresenting sales
I recently made an online order from this online company. After making the order and receiving a confirmation e-mail, I called to confirm the order.
The sales representative I was transfered to; began to explain that he knew alot about the cameras I had ordered, and wanted to go over my order.
as advertised.
Canon XH-A1 camcorder
http://shopdigitaldirect.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=5540
the sales representative began to explain that the camcorder I ordered did not come with a lens, viewfinder, or microphone...
I was more than a little confused as this was not how the product was advertised; not to mention all of the above mentioned are built in to the camera and are not interchangeable.
He then proceeded to tell me that I was crazy to think that I would expect this product to come complete at this price, and that I was out of my mind to think that I would not spend 6000.00 on this camera.
Canon 40D camera
package deal #3
"Canon EOS 40D w/28-300mm f/3.5-6.6 lens & more"
http://shopdigitaldirect.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=5300
Again the same representative began to explain that the Canon 40D package that I ordered was a plastic grey market item, and that the lens that was included in the package, did not have any glass in it, that the lens was made out of fiberglass.
once again more than a bit confused, i began to inquire what he meant that the lens and camera were plastic grey market items.
The Sales representative explained that if I wanted the professional package, he was more than happy to sell it to me for more than triple what i had ordered.
after further inquisition, about what exactly I was to expect from my order, the sales rep. began to insult me, cancelled my order, and hung up.
After calling back, requesting to speak to a manager; and being put on hold for over 20 minutes, I was finally reconnected with the original sales rep, who hung up on me.
After calling back again, and going through the same process, I was connected to a so called manager, or someone who "could help me ?"
The person began to explain that they sold OEM consumer products.(which means that they sell incomplete cameras or something. and that I should read their company policy and then call them back, in fact to "not call them back" the conversation declined to derogatory insults...
after I was hung up on again, I decided that maybe I should read what their policy had to say.

after reading the policy, I found nothing about this OEM thing.
Am currently in the process of filing this with the Better Business Bureau New Jersey

deceptive practices
Ordered a Canon camera from this company on line - was called several days later to be told that the camera came with nothing - no cables, no battery, no memory card. Told me that I would have to pay extra for this package, raising the price of the camera by $80.00. Was also told that I would have to pay $20+ for insurance even though the camera was advertised with free shipping.
Then I was told I could not cancel the order without a cancelling charge. I have been on the phone and email with them everyday since then. Was told that my order was canceled and my credit card was not charged, but the charge is there. Was told that my account will be credited, but it has not been. Now I am told that the camera has been shipped to me.
Do not order from this company. Wish I had checked this site before I ordered the camera.

Fraudulent business practices
I searched for a good price on a canon HF10 digital camera on a search engine and diduprice.com came up with a listing for a seller offering the camera for $449 which is about half the price that reputable retailers are selling the same product. This website listed several retailers with higher prices and also listed shopdigitaldirect.com with a price of $449 and a rating of 'trusted seller' so taking them at their word and relyin on good faith, i placed an order on a thursday. I called back the following monday to find out if my order was being processed since I got some lame autoresponder with very general information about my order.
I spoke with someone who was clearly uneducated in either general schooling and clearly ignorant of the product I had ordered. He proceeded to tell me that Canon only had a 90 day warranty on the camcorder. I immediately became suspicious of this guy. He then went on to try to sell me all types of packages including one so called 'presidential' package, another red flag went up, I know enough about deceptive advertising practices and this started to smell fishy.
Their Presidential package included some HD software without which I would not be able to use the camera. He repeatedly told me that if I did not buy this software I would not be able to use the camera. I found it hard to believe that a company like Canon would sell a product that you could not use unless you bought additional junk so I inquired on more specifics about the 'HD software'. I was asked in a very rude and condescending way 'what part of HD software don't you understand'?. at that point I figured I was being had by some 2nd grade dropout who probably could not spell his own name.
I proceeded to request that my original order be canceled and was told that they could not do that as the order was already being processed in the warehouse, unless I paid a 15% restocking fee. He tried to sell me on other things and I then requested that they honor the order I placed only for the camera, no extended warranty or 'presidential' package or filters or any of that nonsense, at this time the fellow said no I am not going to do that either, your order is canceled, then hung up on me.
After spending about 2 more hours calling and trying to speak with customer service, I was transferred to non working extensions, the manager was never available, etc. etc. etc... I finally gave up without ever getting even a comfort level that my order was indeed canceled and I would not be charged any cancellation fee. The entire experience left me with a very bad taste in my mouth for online retailers. I have had some great experiences shopping online so I know that thankfully this is not how most retailers act.
I would recommend anyone having the misfortune of coming across this ripoff artists to stay clear away from them, they are not a reputable company and they DO NOT HONOR their advertised product prices.
