shopperdiscounts!!!!!!!!!! May 5, 2010
after sales scam saving!
I bought a ticket online from national express and was offered a saving of £15 on my next ticket, so obviously I clicked to save but never saved from my next ticket, this was June last year!, and it was only when I was filing my credit card statements and noticed the repeat of shopperdiscounts.co.uk on a few ?? I thought so went back through them till I found the first and added 2 and 2 together so theyve had £90 from my credit card which will end up costing me more! I have immediately cancelled this now online and will be phoning them up tomorrow, surely this isnt allowed?? I never signed up to pay £10 a month! on anything! I thought I was getting money off my next ticket!!!

scam??
Further to my last email, sent early this morning - and having read through the various similar complaints, it appears to me that the only way that this website could have possibly received my credit card details ( in order to debit my bank account monthly for £10 !!) must have been through Ryannair.com ( where Ryannair 'promise' £15.00 off your next flight... if you go to the above website!! I guess that 'clicking on' the above website constitutes their means of getting your credit card details from Ryannair, but I sincerely hope not!! However, i see no other way in which the above site could have 'purchased' my credit card information + (presumably?) there must have to be some kind of 'payoff' for Ryannair to advertise the site. If so - and this is purely surmise on my part - let all potential 'flight savings buyers' beware !!! ( via the Ryannair site!) DON"T EVEN THINK OF COMPROMISING YOUR CREDIT CARD DETAILS IN THIS WAY (!!!) YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!! HOW MANY OTHERS HAVE FALLEN VICTIM THIS WAY ALREADY? THINK ABOUT IT.

unauthorised payments
Have spotted that I, too, have been caught by this 'scam' !!! How many others, unwittingly also?? I vaguely seem to remember being 'had' by some online promise of a £15 discount on shopping goods- or something similar.I have to say that I am sending this email in the early hours of a Sunday morning, so haven't yet attempted to contact this outfit. all I can do is to echo the comments made already that i find myself having been credit card debited on the 27th of every month since (and including!) December of 2009 in the sum of £10.00.
I was unaware that I had ever signed up for any debit whatsoever on any monthly basis - and am totally shocked that this is happening!!

Have I got any rights in law to be reimbursed for my credit card losses (if such they be, having not yet managed to contact 'shoppingdiscounts.co.uk') by my bank?

Bear in mind that I am emailing this on a Sunday, as already stated, and have not yet had any opportunity to take this matter further in the 'working week'.Meanwhile, i'm clearly not the only person to be 'conned'. What can be done to stop others - and to stop these folk making a mint??

Credit Card deductions
Further to Shoppers Discounts and Awards' reply, the company has been good to its word and credited my account with the payments taken for 2 months subscription. I understand that by clicking on an offer when buying tickets from Ticketmaster, I became a fee paying Shoppers Discount member. Now I have to be fair and thank Shoppers Discounts for its speed in coming forward and reimbursing me and canceling membership. My cautionary tale is:

be careful of any supposed "special offers" from online companies, especially those who hold your credit or debit card details

be careful what you "tick" in a hurry!

check your bank statement/credit card invoices, and challenge payments which don't make sense.

Finally, in my case anyway, I thought I had become anti Easy Jet, but in my case, they were not involved, so apologies to that company for my assumption.

unauthorised transactions on my card
I made a purchase from mandmdirect.com and was asked if I would like discount on future purchases. Subsequently my card was charged £10.00 per month by a company called shopperdiscounts.co.uk for the next two months (until I noticed) To the best of my knowledge they have no connection to MandM. When I phoned shopperdiscounts they begrudgingly agreed to make a refund but they tried to convince me that I had willingly signed up for it. Never at any time did I sign up for a monthly subscription of £10.00 and I am not sure why anyone else would because you would have to be a compulsive shopper to derive any benefit.
I have now found that I am not the only one to suffer from these unauthorised transactions.

Unauthorised credit card deductions
I too have found GBP 10 has been deducted from my Capital One Credit Card. I have called C One, who to their credit are sympathetic and are sending me an unauthorized payment form. I look at my statements very carefully, and even then I had not noticed a payment made in January as well as February. Like many other complainants, I had purchased tickets online from EasyJet, but have absolutely no recollection of signing up to any so called discount operation. I have alerted Capital One to the litany of complaints, and they appear proactive, which I welcome. Unlike other people, I have no spam, and no e mail confirming a membership number, and so I am going to rely on Capital One, unless anyone out there knows how to reach them and getting them to remove my so called membership without a number (I am certainly not going to give them my credit card details). Does anyone know of an effective UK Complaints procedure? I thought EasyJet were a rather good company to fly with, given my experiences through the bad weather where their communication was excellent. Obviously, assuming as is likely that they gave my details away, I find their behavior absolutely unacceptable and they should be named, fined and shamed.
