Inconsiderate and Arrogant Pharmacists
I phoned this 24 hour Shoppers Drug Mart and I explained to the Pharmacist that I got my prescription logged in another Shoppers branch but would like to get the prescription in their store since I need the medicine by morning and the branch that logged my prescription was already closed. I explained that the other pharmacist said to just show the other branch the piece of paper showing my logged prescription and they will be able to fill me one. This pharmacist in the 11408 Jasper Ave location said yes to me on the phone and when I got there driving for about 20 minutes near midnight and just coming after an evening shift the pharmacist said he couldn't fill it out since they can't "contact anybody from the store" where I got the logged prescription from. Of course they wouldn't be able to talk to them because they are already closed and for the exact reason I phoned them is that they are a 24-hour dispensing pharmacy. What peeved me on end is they guy saying "yes you can come here and we'll fill it" and then give me some lame excuse that it can't be done because it's not following a procedure that they need to talk to another pharmacy first before they could fill it. I know the guy is probably just being lazy or very inconsiderate because before I was able to transfer prescriptions to another shoppers branch because the branch I go to was close for the holidays. At that time all they have to do was to honor the refill remaining as stated on the box of the medicine and faxed the home pharmacy in the morning. If they can do it there why can't the Shopper's at 11408 Jasper Ave could not do it? They even went as far as lecturing me why I'm getting my pills late and that I should not be changing pharmacies. It's just too arrogant that they wouldn't even consider the fact they said yes to me on the phone and made me believe I could have the prescription filled. I have nothing but good experiences with Shopper's Drug Mart before but this one experience really ruined their reputation for me. Where's the customer service? The two pharmacists 'ganged' up on me smirking and lecturing me how wrong I was. I am so peeved I vow never to return to that store again where the pharmacy is manned by arrogant and incompetent pharmacists.

EXPIRED MEDICINE
I purchased Infacol for my infant daughter on Aug 11, 2009 at our local Shoppers Drugmart. Gave Infacol to my daughter for 2 weeks and medication was completely not working. She was constantly crying and unsettled, feeding very little and sleeping irregularly. Two weeks later, I happened to notice the expiry date on the Infacol and it said 30/06/08!! This bottle of Infacol was expired for over 1 year!! I went into Shoppers the same day, and eventually spoke with manager, who basically offered me an apology and said these things happen from time to time! How can a pharmacy not care at all knowing fully that they have poisoned this little infant??
Any ideas on where I can go to complain? I've already called the college of pharmacists and the ministry of health.

Discrimination & Banned from Shoppers with no reason given
I am writing this complaint to let as many people as I can see how discriminatory & rude Shoppers Drug Mart can be. I was receiving Methadone from Shoppers Drug mart store #2207 for quite some time. And no I'm not an uncontrollable junkie, people need to stop with the stigma, my purpose for taking Methadone was because my x family Dr got me addicted to oxycodone, and wouldn't take me off of it, and refused to help me, so I had to get help for myself, anyways that's all irrelevant. On April 1st, 09 I had one dosage left as I was seeing my prescribing Dr later that day. After I was given my dose, I was handed a letter, I opened it to read, and it said that as of April 1st, 09 I am no longer welcome in the store & the Pharmacy will not take any of my Prescriptions. It went on to say that they didn't need a reason to do this, and what was really strange, is that there was no name at the end, no one wanted to take responsibility for this letter, and it was signed with a star!!!
I haven't been there since that day, I did find out that A LOT of Methadone patients get the same letter for no reason, and my councilor & Dr said it was discrimination & that it's been happening for years. To make things worse, my Fiance went there today, to get milk & bread (he's continued to go there since i was banned) and while he was in line, a man came up to him and asked him if he was banned, so my fiance said no, as he hadn't been, and a woman that was stocking shelves just behind them said "Yes he has, the Pharmacy has confirmed it" !!! He doesn't even use their Pharmacy, so why would he be banned from the Pharmacy?? Because of me. What they've done is so disgusting, who are they to pass judgment against people who take medication there? Just because of the Stigma of it? Like I'm not embarrassed enough. It's completely deliberate discrimination it's ridiculous.
My fiance & I are going to contact the Human Rights Tribunal, and obtain a lawyer to press charges. There is also a class action suite in the works against Shoppers Drug Mart started by others that have been previously banned.
I apologize at the length of this complaint, but I want everyone to know what happened.

Poor Customer Service
I would like to mention to all those tourists who visit Montreal about a Shoppers Drug Mart ( PharmaPrix in Quebec) in my neighbourhood where the service is consistently poor. It is the Ste. Catherine Ste /Saint Alexandre St. location across from the H&M store and the St. James Cathedral. The staff are consistently rude and the drug store pharmacist is the rudest and refuses to speak to customers in English unless you press her too. I have seen instances when they have been rude to other customers while shopping the store. Compared to other Shoppers stores, it is messy with staff constantly blocking aisles to stock shelves without so much as an apology to customers. Can't they do this during store closing hours? I have taken to shopping the much nicer Shoppers Drug Mart at Place Ville Marie which is a bit more distant from my home but the staff and conditions of the store are much more pleasant overall. In any case, if you want a pleasant customer service experience, shop at this store and not the one on Ste. Catherine and Saint Alexandre.

An Optimum Card member

Poor service and card policy
I shopped with my brother at the Shoppersdrugmart at Centre Street NW of Calgary this early morning (around 9:30am) and the shopkeeper stopped me from using my Shoppersdrugmart Optimum card to buy anything for my brother. Without any clarification, she assumed that it's my brother making the purchase and insisted that my brother use his own card. I told her that my brother had no card and we had been using the same card for almost 10 years since the very first release of Shoppers Drug Mart card, but she insisted that my brother should get his own card and I could not use my card to buy the product for him. Although my brother was the one who took the product to the cashier desk, why should my brother instead of me be buying? I told her that even Airmiles cards were for the whole family but she said it's her company policy that each person could only use his/her own Optimum card. We bought the product anyway since it's just a can of Excel Spearmint (60pc) for a few dollars which could not possibly earn us many points, but her racist and discriminating manner made us sick. I told her that we were of the same family so why couldn't I use my card to buy anything for my brother, but she insisted that each person should only use his/her own card even if they're in the same family. Is that really? If so I would cancel my Optimum card with immediate effect for this very negative shopping experience due to such a fool's logic that the card could only be used by the corresponding card owner and could not be used to buy anything for others. While Shoppersdrugmart allows card points transfer, why can't a card holder be allowed to use the card to buy something for others as gifts? And why did she stop me from buying any regular priced products for my brother and insisted that my brother to buy it when my brother didn't even have an Optimum card? I strongly believe such racist and/or discriminating service is intolerable. I don't think any of my family members and my friends will ever return to Shoppersdrugmart again!!! To whom this may interest, that irrational shopkeeper was a Caucasian woman aged about 40, short, a bit slim and wearing eyeglasses. She did not even say thank-you after our purchase.

Rude supervisor - Sunny
Shoppers Drug Mart has a wonderful return policy, that allows return of items in a different branch. However, I met the rudest supervisor today at UBC Shoppers by the name of Sunny. I went to the UBC Shoppers branch to return a faulty standing fan I bought at another branch. Upon seeing the fan, Sunny told me that there is no space at her store to place the fan and demanded rudely, that I return the $10 voucher I got for spending more than $50 at shoppers today. She later remarked that her store no longer carry such fans and that I should go back to the store which I bought the fan for a refund in future. To save myself from further embarassment, I quickly handed her the $10 voucher I got, and left the store immediately after I got the refund facilitated. A terrible and most embarrassing encounter with a supervisor!

Rude, racist, poor service
I am a brown skin woman and I was there on a weekday in the afternoon for the first time at that store to purchase some flyer items.
A white cashier named Linda, looked at me disgustingly and said arrogantly you black people can only afford sale price items. There is a limit of 4 per customer. You were here the other day and got the same items.
She asked me to leave because the owner said only 4 items per customer. She said our owner is black and her boss was black too. What are you going to complain about your black skin?
What an experience for shopping there for the first time.

Pharmacy
I dropped a prescription on January 19, 2009 and had my husband pick it up on January 20, 2009.
When I opened the bag to take the medication at bedtime, they had not filled the prescription I had dropped off. They had found out that the Trazedone that had been prescribed by my Doctor contraindicated another prescription, so they called my Doctor and decided to substitute Seroquel instead.
I had previously taken Seroquel and had many unpleasant side effects. It had been over two years since I had taken Seroquel and I guess my doctor didn't look that far back in my file. When I called the pharmacy at Shopper's Drug Mart they told me they wouldn't refund the money for the prescription.
I really feel that at some point, I as the patient and consumer, should have been advised of the medication interaction and that Seroquel would have been the substitute. Had I known I would not have accepted that as a substitution, and I certainly would not have paid for it.
Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacists need to keep their consumers informed of all changes to their medication and to accept that this is not entirely the consumer's problem.
I was also told that the specific problems that I had encounted were not listed as a side effect for Seroquel. I really didn't care that no one else complained of the same side effects as I, all I cared about was the complete disregard that both the pharmacy and my Doctor had for my care.

Destroyed Photo's
I decided to go to Shoppers for the convience of their Photo Lab being only a short walk from my house. I told the lady behind the counter that my film was true black and white three times and she confirmed she heard me. She said they would be done on Monday. I went back every day until Thursday until I phoned. She the lady who I understand her name to be Heather said to me: I put them through the machine and they wont go through our machine so I have to send them out now however they havent unrolled or anything.. I said no I will just take them else where. She said she would leave them on the counter for me. I got there. I got my envelope off the counter. Got my car. She had lied. The we not and I repeat WERE NOT in the canister they were bunched up in a ball over exposed in an evelope. I called the manger the next day and she had the photo Lab Manager Phone me back whose name is Rob. He accused me of not putting my camera properly and that it was my own fault and he had written on the envelope blank role. He did not do this and I had brought to blacks (The one and only true photo store) and she looked at them and was able to tell me they were run their (Shoppers Drug Mart's) Color Photo machine and that is how they got destroyed. Spent an hour on hold with customer service only to be Disconnected!!! The battle continues!

told to leave
I was asked to leave the store today and i said what for? They said that they dont have to give a reason.Since my wife and i shop there about 3 times a week i couldnt think of a reason except that they dont like the way i look.I have never done anything in this store except shop.If they have a reason then they should have to give it, what are they afraid of, maybe being wrong? To hide behind i dont need a reason first off means that they can not serve you cause they dont like your race or look!We should start making them give a reason with proof! So that people dont have to walk an extra 5 miles when a drug store doesnt like how you look...
