I was introduced to Stella Shin by another hair salon, she charges a lot, and tells you that it's free for touch ups. She is a rip off because she manages to forget what she was paid to do, yet she always remembers to say in broken English, "Tip, tip!" when you return for these "free touch ups." She sets it up so you have to return to her again and again as if you didn't have other things to do with your life. When I talked to her about the situation and gave her a chance to redeem herself, she claimed, "That not my skill." although "that" skill is exactly what she prints on her business card.
When I talked to the lady that referred Stella and explained what happened, her remark was, "That's not right." I also heard negative things about Stella from other stylists in the community, that there are frequent customer complaints. She charges over a quarter more than other stylists do for the same type of service, and having satisfied customers isn't her priority. Do your homework, and ask around about her if you are considering it. Avoid, I do not recommend her at all. I am judicious and discriminating with the use of a one star review. It is reserved usually for businesses that rip me off, and that is quite appropriate here.
Update May 8, 2009
In light of the unsatisfactory results from Stella Shin, I have written to three consumer agencies. She has denied false advertising, and claims the opposite of what her business card states. The complaint remains on file for for future review should additional complaints be received. Should you have similar issues with this person, my suggestion is to contribute to the documentation by writing to: .
