We purchased a Silky Terrier puppy from The Pedigree Shop in Lone Tree, Colorado on February 27, 2009. On March 3, 2009 we had the puppy examined by a vet who noticed that the puppy had incisions that indicated she had some type of surgery. Thereafter we went back to The Pedigree Shop to inquire about the incisions and were informed by the owner of the shop that the breeder did not disclose any health issues, but it was probably a hernia that is “common” in puppies. We then took the puppy back to the vet for a recheck (because she had a urinary tract infection at her initial visit) and told the vet about the "common" hernia and were informed by the vet that it is NOT common for a puppy to have a hernia and that the puppy would need to by spayed due to the hernia. Needless to say, we were very dissatisfied that we spent over $800 on a puppy that could not be bred. We expressed our concerns with the owner of The Pedigree Shop and were offered our money back if we returned the puppy. This option was preposterous since we had already bonded with the puppy and spent so much money on vet bills, toys, food, etc.
We believe the Pedigree Shop and the breeder knowingly or falsely misrepresented the puppy’s health issues and performance which are not appropriate for breeding and therefore request the amount of $520.31 that we paid to have the puppy spayed.
