Scammers
We are a small San Jose home appliance company and we are expanding our customer service department, we are in need of15-25 people to start this week in our CSR department. This is an entry level position and all training will be provided all we require is a good work ethic and the ability to learn. JOB COMPENSATION / BENEFITS: ** FULL TIME WORK ** APPLY TODAY START THIS WEEK ** $2000 PER MONTH SALARY ** PAID VACATIONS We are holding interviews today so please call to schedule an appointment time, ask for the HR manager. SJU INC 408-437-9200 1580 Oakland RD C103 San Jose CA 95131 ' This is similar to what they write in their ads on craigslist almost every week, though with some variations to make up for their lack of hiring almost anyone. I knew about the Kirby vacuum company before hand...in fact I first found out about them through other ads in the same area...there's an article written about one on rip report already called J&J Sales and Marketing promising a $2, 400 a month salary in Sunnyvale. This company is similar, except that they offer a $2, 000 salary. These are big promises but before you go about believing them check, out the many scam reports all over the internet and this website. SJU INC is just another cover-up name to what they really are, a Kirby affiliated and associated product line. If you are so unfortunate enough to get lulled into getting this job, you will soon find yourself working long hours without getting even 10% of the payment that they supposedly guarantee. So how did I find out that SJU INC. are a bunch of lying scammers? Well like I said before I was very suspicious by them...but after going for a long time without a job I was highly tempted by the possibility that they weren't just lying about a mighty good salary and the like. After all, we are facing an economic crisis and finding a full time job, or at least a job that pays the salary of a full timer working extra hours was just too good to give up. So I gave them a call...I had a plan to ask them whether they were affiliated with Kirby, but every time I forgot to...if I did it would have saved a lot of time. Anyways even during the call I started to get suspicious...he did pick up and say 'SJU' but he did not professionally state who he was and his position...the first sign that this place ain't professional. I continued to ask a barrage of questions...more notably how am I guaranteed the $2, 000 at the end of the month. He responded after quite a long pause 'I don't know, after the paperworks and contract is signed.' Notice how he shows a level of doubt as if he was unsure what he was talking about...it certainly sounded that way over the phone as well. I even told him some of my concerns how this ad is posted every week or so and how I suspect it could be a fraud business...the man on the other end said nothing. Doesn't sound like he cares that I had concern, probably because he knew he couldn't directly lie, and Kirby is known for indirect trickery. Not once did he ask me whether I am legally able to work in the US which is what many contract jobs do before scheduling an interview. I eventually decided not to go through with it...but since I needed a job and hey maybe he was just fumbling words over the phone...I decided to call him a few days later. Apparently though...no one picked up...it seems like the business is not active on the latter part of the week which further makes this strange especially if they claim this is a full time business. So I waited till Monday to try calling again...this time someone picked up...the same man who talked to me before on the phone...and he claimed his name was Corey. We set up an interview and I went to it in a remotely located complex in Northern San Jose. When I went in and greeted the man in the front desk...apparently this was the same man I talked to over the phone but it was very obvious the voice sounded different. My suspicions further were raised but after he gave me a rather light application to fill out I decided to do so...afterwards I gave the application to the front desk and no sooner later I was escorted to the room where the interview would be taking place. Now before I even entered the room I noticed plaques and what seemed to be like awards on the walls stating 'Kirby' and 'Kirby Vacuum'. At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks with me since I was worried that this would be a Kirby business but after I went in the room before the man interviewed me...I looked again and clearly saw the 'Kirby' written on it. I was thinking in my head...oh damn...I can't believe I'm about to be interviewed for a job with Kirby. He eventually did reveal that the company is indeed heavily in league with the Kirby vacuum company and that this was basically an extension of it. The job consisted of going to scheduled appointments to demonstrate their products. I was told there would be no door to door but this is what Kirby does...they mislead the potential employee into thinking that all appointments will be scheduled when in fact often times the appointment is of with a person who knows nothing of the appointment, essentially making it a planned door to door operation. He eventually gave me his card...and told me to call between 4:00 and 4:45 PM. He told me I would most likely be hired and not once did he mention the application and how I was going to start right away with no 'necessary paperwork'. All the while claiming this was a contract job. Of course I decided not to call after finding out all that info! Despite not listening to what he said he called the next day inquiring about me and I wasn't home but I still never called him...it's so obvious how desperate these people are for employees since Kirby is known for a very bad employee turnout rate. Obviously that's the reason why they post every week. I would be careful when dealing with similar ads and the like on craigslist or other job adverts. If they claim they will schedule an interview before filling out any applications or paper, or don't ask for a resume or similar info though the e-mail medium...chances are they aren't for real. It is suspicious enough if they post so often...shows how little they get people to work for them.
