Fake USPS hiring agent called SKYSHOUT
Complaint Rating:
Company information:
United States
Phone: 561-283-0895
Advertisements on Craigslist nationwide as hiring for USPS jobs. It tells you to call a number in Florida and ask for a varying extension. I called this, and the same guy answered each time as a different person. Last time I called it was Eric Gold, this time it's Jeffrey Neuman...they are all part of the scam.
He then asks for $89 on your credit card plus $20 in shipping to be paid immediately towards "study materials" for a USPS exam. When prompted, he had no explanation as to how this fits in with USPS's hiring procedure. And when questioned further, he became hostile and hung up the phone. BEWARE. Don't e-mail this ad and don't call the number. If you've done it cancel the credit card immediately and dispute the charges. Do a search for that company and all you'll find are notices of scams - use them to dispute the charge.
SKYSHOUT will also tell you direct from their email that they need to do a credit check on you sending you to their website to complete their forms. The website asks for personal data, banks, credit card etc DON"T DO THIS - if you see SKYSHOUT it is a scam!! Check the email address you are responding to advertisements!!
This is the quoted email received from them:

Subject: RE: Federal Application
Please be aware that one of the steps in getting hired for a federal
position involves a credit check of the applicant (that means you).
While you might think you have great credit, the economic turmoil in
the last several months has resulted in significant changes to the
credit ratings of most individuals.
We are recommending that everyone seeking federal employment check their credit report ASAP!
Get a 3 in 1 credit report for free from Experian and take care of any
wrong information contained in your report as quickly as possible. I
can't tell you how many people we couldn't place because of errors on
their report!

We only want to present good quality candidates to the employer, if
you checked your credit and feel that it is sufficient with no major
problems, please let me know ASAP!
Jeffrey Neuman
Senior Recruiter, Federal Division"
It's terrible that in this poor economy people so deperate for work are being taken advantage of like this - pass the word along about this company and be careful!
