poor product & service
We had purchased an indoor water wall feature on April 20, 2007. About six months after installation, we were having performance problems with the water wall inspite of cleaning it on a regular basis. The main performance issue was that the water wall was spewing water from the top of the unit leaving water on the wall where the unit was mounted and all over the floor. Both my husband and I had called Slate in Design on countless of occasions with, at first, no response. Then after about 1 year of still leaving voice messages and going to the Mahattan Road location (to only find it closed and for appointment only), my husband was able to reach someone to be told that we would be charged for a service call. Why would we be charged for a service call when the unit did not work properly after 6 months of operation and if the company did not respond to our numerous voice messages? We decided to drain the water wall of water and shut it off. The water wall became a joke with family and friends, and an expensive and non-functioning wall fixture. In November 2010, we removed the water wall unit from the wall and, to our horror, found MOULD growing behind the slate and mounting brackets. We immediately scrubbed the wall down with bleach to remove the mould and the water wall unit is now sitting dismantled in our garage. This situation is unacceptable. Had I known that Slate In Design would be so negligent with customer service and that the water wall would would produce mould, I never would have purchased the unit in the first place. These people should not be in business, period.
