Sleep Number Bed Reviews

Poor Quality
I recently purchased the I9 bed from Sleep Number. The bed was not the quality of bed used in their store/showrooms. The bed was very cheaply made and caused my husband and I both back and neck problems. The mattress pad zipper was broken within 2 days of use...the air chambers would not hold their settings for anytime and you would have to adjust them. You could feel the foam side and center walls under you. When my husband got into the bed I felt as if I were laying on a giant air bubble (like an old waterbed) and it wasn't supposed to do that since we had separate air chambers. We were so dissatisfied with this bed we contacted customer service after 4 nights to ship it back...we were told we HAD to sleep on it for a FULL 30 nights before we could return it. We (after the 3rd complaint) were finally given the RMA # to return it. We had to pay out of our own pocket nearly $500 shipping to return the bed. This has been the worst shopping experience EVER. Please don't make the same mistakes we did!!! Don't buy their product...it is NOT the quality you see in store.

worn out in several spots hurts back worse than before
I purchased my bed 2 years ago and it is worn out in several places. i have tried replacing the foam from one side to the other it has completely worn out. when I purchase the bed it worked fine until i started loosing air. they replaced the side that was losing pressure. When purchased they said it had a lifetime warranty. this bed should be taken off the market it does what it say about a year (in which that's really when the warranty runs out) this bed has my back hurting worse than ever! you spend all of this money for the bed but, as soon as something goes wrong you have to spend hundreds of dollars to get it fixed! how can this problem be solved.

LED numbers on sending unit for pump
LETTER TO BE SENT TO SELECT COMFORT

We bought our Sleep Number bed( Expanded Queen with two sending units to the pump) in April 2005. Several of my friends bought beds too, and they also are very happy. The bed has been a godsend for our sleep. In October of 2007, we noticed the LCD on both number sending units (as did my friends) was only showing part of the numbers. Thankfully that unit was recalled for all of us and you all replaced them.

Last week, May 7th, we noticed the LCD on the replaced unit (one sending unit only) was again fading and only showing part of the numbers. It is very hard to believe that for such an awesome product that these parts are failing again. Will you please explain why?

Please help me get this rectified. I called your customer care folks – who were very nice but we were not satisfied that they said that this warranty on this pump unit we got in October 2007 reverted back to the original date the bed was bought. Parts replaced on our car or for our washing machine are given warranty from the date it was replaced. We also were told if we purchase a new pump unit with the now remote number senders, it will have a 30 day warranty. Our concern is this unit will also start to fail.

bed sucks cant sleep
my husband and i purchased this miserable bed because he had lumbar fusion surgery and thought if he could adjust the mattress he could sleep alittle better. i have never had a more miserable nights sleep in my life.we have had this bed for 2 years and i havent had a good nights sleep on it since the second night we had it. i wake up with my arms numb my neck is constantly pinched. my husband can bearly even sleep and is up all night because he is miserable in this thing. the bed looks like two hammocks side by side and we have to sleep with pillows in between us because it feels ike im going to roll on over on him all the time. there is no support in the middle of the bed between us so we feel like we are both rolling into eachother.we are buying a new bed because i need to sleep and so does he.the worse part of this whole thing is that we talked my inlaws into buying this crap at the same time as us and they both have the same problems and now we are going to buy them a new bed too.i wouldnt even recommend this bed to my worst enemy.i dont know why someone hasnt start a class action suit against this company because i think we all deserve something back for our pain and suffering.

False Advertising
I'v had a Sleep Number Bed AKA Select Comfort (why did they change the name of the company?) for almost four years & if I could sell it I would, but it seems no one in this small town wants one as I have advertised it twice and for a very low price. They all must have read this complaint board. You cannot sleep on this bed when one side is adjusted for firm & the other for soft, one partner is going to roll all night or keep a death grip on their side of the bed so they don't.
Also you can't snuggle as there is a very hard separater in the middle of the bed, it's a rip off to say the least...And if I have to watch that Lindsey Wagner on TV spewing garbage lies about how wonderful this bed is just one more time I think I'll pack mine up and send it to her!!!

20 year Warranty
I bought a sleep number bed about 8 years ago, we loved the bed and promoted it to everyone that was looking for a new mattress, We noticed a problem with the mattress and called the company, we were told that there was a 20 year warranty when we bought it, the problem was a defect in the mattress but the company wants to charge us almost $500 to replace the defected parts!! We paid $2800 for the bed 8 years ago, they want us to pay for the replacement parts of their defected bed!!! The bed is wonderful until something happens to it and the company wants to charge you to have it repaired, I won't be buying another sleep number bed!!!

Not what you expect!
My then 80 yr old Mother and I went to the Mall to look at the beds.We laid down on several.Felt wonderfull! Mother ordered one for herself and one for me as a suprize.
Soon the two beds arrived. 2 boxes, about 2.5 high, 2.5 wide 3 ft long.Yup, the whole bed.
We opened one and out pops several strips of grey foam, what looks like 2 plastic floats for a pool, pump, controls, and a quilted mattress cover with a zipper. It was easy to put together as theres not much to it.The controls had no numbers, within a month the mattress sagged, the foam moved.( I weigh 132lbs, my lover weighs 150lbs)the foam down the center made a ridge.
It was a very expensive mistake.A queen size one in fact.
Notice the only reviews to read on site are the ones that sound like the company wrote them and most don't leave a name or its a first name?
Hint if you're buying a bed.Take a camera, unzip the mattress cover, take a picture of just how thick the cover is, the foam, everything!Remember, the box springs are not included.
Good luck

does not rasie or lower position
I purchased a queen-size sleep by number in May '05 at their
Menlo Park store. It had controls to raise/lower, the head and
the foot positions. I moved to point Pleasant NJ 8/1/06 and
ever since these controls do not work. I was sent a new remote
control (charged for) and fax messages to try to correct the problem. I have not been able to get anyone to come to my home
to fix this problem and, to my knowledge, it is not their practice
to send repairmen to the site. How can I fix this bed by fax message when I am 75 years old with severe back problems ?
I wish someone would help me for I thought the bed was under
20 year warranty.

Very unhappy with Sleep Number Bed!
I'm so happy to finally read complaints that equal mine about this bed!! I had some minor back problems, but I thought this sort of bed would be great because I could adjust the firmness, so I could not go wrong. WRONG!! I've had the queen Sleep Numbers Bed only a year, and I have never been able to find my "Number." I've had it up to 85, down to 15. I've called customer service. No help. I bought a pillow top myself, but it didn't help. I just could not find my number. I just had a massage last night. I felt wonderful. Then I went to bed, and I woke up with the same neck, shoulder and back pain.

I finally broke down and bought a conventional bed. I knew I had to (even after $1800.00 purchase of the Sleep Number bed) because I recently went on vacation and slept on a regular bed and felt 100% better the next morning.

BUYER BEWARE!!!
