I never thought I'd be "one of those people" but I have to get the word out about a scam that got me recently. I wanted to get a leg up on my diet plans for my new year's resolution so just before the new year I was looking at different products. I heard about a chinese herb that was supposed to help curb your appetite and increase your energy. I stopped in their "store" located on Sunrise Blvd and spoke at length with the salesperson. I started to leave without making the purchase because it seemed expensive ($80), and they wouldn't sell me a sample size. As I started to leave (after being there for almost an hour) the salesperson persisted; "I don't know why you're so hesitant to try it, " she says, "there's no risk envolved; you have 30 days to return it if you're not satisfied. Just bring it back with your receipt." ...That was all it took. I went for it.
As you may have guessed, it didn't work. I think it made me hungrier! I followed the directions to the letter and twelve days later I was back with my receipt and unused portion. A young sales-girl (a different girl---looked like she was 15 years old) tells me that she can't refund my money because the seals on the bottles were broken. I was shocked! I said, "Well how else am I going to try it without breaking the seal? I was told that I had 30 days to return it if I wasn't pleased with the results." She went on to explain that it was their policy that the only way to receive a refund was if the seal had not been broken. Then she added insult to injury when she asked me "Are you in the habit of signing things you don't read?" The previous sales person had me sign a form that gave them my email and contact info... I was told that this was so they could alert me of future sales etc... I the young sales-girl that I wasn't in the habit of being lied to. I asked for the manager and was told that the manager doesn't EVER come into the store. I insisted she get her on the phone. She did, but the "manager" wouldn't speak with me. The sales-girl wouldn't give me the manager's last name. I have called and called. I want my money back. Apparently, they have several stores, including one in the Roseville Galleria. I can't imagine that I'm the only fool that's been taken advantage of here. I figure maybe this is a story worth telling. I'm emabarassed. I know better than to blow money on diet products, but I really don't like being lied to face to face like that.
