Smart Game Shopper Reviews

Fraudulent Charges
When you make a purchase from this online store, they keep charging your credit card for unauthorized things such as a "membership". When I called, the customer service rep could not adequately explain what this was for nor could she explaint the second unauthorized charge 6 days later that was even higher. I have contacted my bank's fraud department.
Total scam artists !!

Fraudulent Charges
I ordered a video game online as a gift on January 16. I accidently added a 7 day, $1 trial to Smart Game Shopper. I received a confirming email right after I placed the order and realized that I'd accidently purchased it. On January 17th, I called the toll free number provided to cancel membership. It took FOUR calls - their telephone system wasn't working correctly- didn't respond to "press 1...", cut you off, etc. ( I've decided, since, this is just the way they do business.) Finally, I made it thru the automation system and THOUGHT it was all cancelled only to find they STILL charged by credit card $19.95 membership fee. I disputed this with AMEX. The company claimed that I hadn't cancelled and that if I did, I would have a cancellation number. The automated system did not provide one. AMEX notified me of BBV's response. I called BBV on their business number (shown on the AMEX paperwork). I managed to get thru the "Dial 3 for Customer Service" but then got a "Dial1 for English". I tried that. Didn't work. Pushed it again. Didn't work...and I was disconnected. I called back - same thing. The third time, I pushed "0" and demanded the operator connect me to a live person. Within a few seconds, a live person was on the line. They said they didn't have any record of my cancellation. I told him all of the above. He said if I didn't have a cancellation number (which the automated system didn't provide) he would do anything, Then, he asked if there was anything else he could do for me! (That's gaul, he hadn't done anything yet!) It's all fraud. You call the toll free number they provide and it continually fails. When it appears on your credit card, they claim you haven't cancelled. When you try to call them, it takes call after call just to get a person. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Backlogged Orders?
Placed an order in the last few days of Dec. 2010. Upon order, was not well notified that by ordering, I would be signed up for some kind of membership. Found this out upon logging back into the site after I had placed the order. Immediately canceled the membership on-line. Item was not available upon order (Nintendo Wii Mario Kart w/wheel), however, the site indicated that it would ship within 14 days. As of today, Jan 15th, item still shows as pending. I called them up and was told it will ship within 14 days. Here we go again? I'm guessing, like the other complaint here, that they will cancel my order after 28 days, though I also was not made away of any auto cancellation. I would not recommend this site. I ordered because it was going to save me 10 bucks. Now I wished I had just paid the extra 10, bought it down the road, and had the game immediately.

cancelled order
We ordered a game and guitar controller in mid-November for a Christmas present. After ordering, they notified us the guitar was back ordered, but the game would be shipped. We were also given a $5.00 discount for being a first time customer. We were not told this discount signed us up for a "gaming membership" that would automatically bill my credit card $19.99 per month, 7 days after our order, if we didn't cancel it. I caught the membership thing on my credit card and called to cancel and check on the back ordered guitar. They said the guitar would now not be delivered before Christmas, pushing the order back another 2 weeks. After much argument, they did finally agree to refund the membership. In looking at my order again after Christmas, it had been cancelled. In calling them on this, they said it automatically cancels back orders that are older than 28 days (I had talked to them about 26 days after the order and this was not mentions, go figure!) Finally, had to order guitar from another site. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SITE, YOU WILL BE SCREWED, SOME HOW!!!

Canceled but sent it anyway?
I ordered 3 items and after waiting several weeks found out that 2 of them were on back order and would not make it for Christmas. So I canceled the order to which they replied they cannot guarantee cancellation - their ordering system is so backward that they cannot assure an order will be canceled. 5 days AFTER I canceled the order I get notified they have sent it and because it was a computer game they say I CANNOT return it. I refused the package and reversed the charges after arguing with their management about how wrong their policies are. BUYER BE WARE - these people have no idea what customer service is. Had I known they were this flaky I would NEVER have placed an order with them no matter how cheap their prices are.

Worong Product Received/Customer Service
I ordered a Wii game as a gift for Christmas - when it arrived yesterday in the mail, it was the correct game, but for the incorrect system (XBox 360). When I notified Customer Service they notified me that I would have to go to the post office (this time of year-seriously?), mail the incorrect item back, billing would receive/research it and then they will send me a new one - in the meantime...it will not be here for Christmas! So, I have to deal with the headache of the post office this time of year, pay for shipping it back (said I can write a note to get that refunded, but doubtful after what I've seen so far), wait for it to be researched and be out the Xmas gift for my family! WOW! Why could they not issue a Call Tag # (which would eliminate me paying for postage & going to the post office), track it for verification and expedite the game to me in time for the holidays?? Worst customer service that I've ever encountered. It was not my error, but I am the one having to pay for the consequence!

Fraud
This website is fraudulently set up. I ordered a wii game on the site, and they indicated that the game was out of stock. Two days after the game was expected to ship, I contacted them, only to find that the game was still out of stock. It wasn't until I googled the company name that I found that they fraudulently charge customers a monthly membership fee for which you inadvertently sign up when you purchase a product. I was (supposedly) granted a "courtesy refund" for the monthly membership fee, and although the product is not in stock, I have to wait and see whether they can cancel my order. Once the money has been refunded, I will ensure that my credit card company prohibits activity with this company. Now to buy a game from amazon that will ACTUALLY get here in time for Christmas...

Fraud
This company is nothing more than a fraud. I set up as a game website, but their true profits are to scam you. Anytime you buy anything from this website, it automatically signs you up for some book of the month club, or discount club, or what ever else they feel that day. The charges go under BBV, look them up on the internet. When you buy a game, you walk away thinking you got a fair deal, not great but fair, until a few days later, they hit your credit card or bank account with unauthorized charges. They will keep doing it until you realize you have been scammed, and that my be months down the road. Of coarse they would be happy to cancel you illegibly obtained enrollment, but a refund is not possible.

product not received, fraudulently made me join club
Purchased a Wii game online on 11/26, credit card charged on on 11/29 to credit card, as of 12/3 still not received. Called and game is not in stock. In the meantime, found out I was enrolled in Best Brand Values club for 19.95 per month. I canceled on the 8th day of the month. If I would have canceled 1 day earlier would have only been $1. I feel it is unethical to enroll people in a club they have no knowledge about.

After 2nd call to company, they said they cannot cancel the order even though the game is not in stock, they don't know when it will be in stock. They admitted they should not have charged my credit card because their policy is credit cards will be charged when shipped.

I no longer want the game (it hasn't shipped and they don't know when it will ship). They have stated they will refund my 19.95 membership fee but not for 2-3 billing cycles.
