Misrepresentation as a Sheriff Department
My sister's old roommate received a disturbing call this morning stating that my sister had to call Tina at 904-855-8027 and that the police were on the way and she was going to have a really bad day. My sister panicked and called me. I was suspicious and called the number and discovered it was Smith Dean and Associates. She called them after them and was transferred to an agent that yelled at her that he was on another phone call with the state attorney and hung up on her. The practices that Smith Dean and Associates seem to me illegal, harassing, and abusive. I found a link that Smith Dean & Associates had 21 lawsuits against it including a lawsuit taken up by the Illinois State Attorney in 2009. My sister is filing a police report against the associates since they misrepresented themselves as police officers. I encourage anyone else that has had a similar experience to contact their local police and report the behavior so that it can be stopped.

Threatening to be arrested
On Wednesday, 12/15/10, I was contacted by David Wilson, at work after they had contacted my daughter and a friend to get information on me, stating they were with states attorney office; they told me that they had done a back ground check and I had 24hours to take care of a check advance that I was making payments on or I was going to charged with two felony charges. I explained that I did not have that kind of money right now it would be taken care of as soon as I was able. He hung up. Today 12/16/10, I was contacted again by Angie Smith, She again stated that they were in the process of filing charges against me and I had 3 hour to make at least half of what I owed to them and they would fax me a letter of hardship to give me thirty days to pay the balance and the would stop the charges. when I told her I was unable to speak at that time she said fine she would call back and speak to my boss and make arrangements to have the sherriff come and arrest me, I was very upset and scared I let my boss know what was going on since I did not know if this was real or not. However, I never received the fax from them and I refuse to send some stranger money.
