Stole my money!!
I am very upset with the Snap Fitness in St. John, Mi. They took money off my credit card for two months for no reason;. I was on the month to month|. They kept calling and harassing me to pay". I dont understand why they think they can take peoples money when I have not used their services|. I expect my money back that they stole from me, . I did not authorize them to take it, so my opinion they stole my money!. I am Very dissatisfied;. I Will not go back nor recommend Snap fitness to anyone! So take it as you want hope you have better luck.

Rude and disrespectful
I would highly recommend joining any gym other than this one. The owner of my local Sanp Fitness in Casper Wyoming started to be very rude and yell at me in front of other customers when attempting to cancel my membership. I would stay away from any of these gyms as the corporate office showed little interest in my complaint.

Overcharging
I met with the staff and requested that no cards be allowed to charge vending or any other service; membership only, as I have teenagers. My account continuously kept being overcharged by double. I attempted on numerous occasions to sit and speak with the manager and my son even dropped off my bank statement...the manager was always "unavailable." I finally wrote a complaint on the internet email and received a phone call back from the manager within 15 minutes. I was told that vending access had been kept on my card and even though my sons had their own cards, that their system showed that all the charges were placed on my card, so both of my sons had to have used only my card and never their cards, and, that vending is always kept on the primary card. I asked why it had been kept on since I had requested no vending on all cards and was told that it had to stay on. The manager then preceded to tell me that he would take it off even though he had just stated that vending had to stay on, and that they weren't responsible for my kids, I was, and I hadn't controlled them. I suggested to him that this was a poor approach, he lost my membership, my family's membership, and would be receiving bad press, BBB, CofA, and a note to Atty. General. He did not care. A very poor business person. I would have loved to continue this membership for my family but was completley burned.

Turned over a new leaf!
I have been a West Des Moines SNAP Fitness member for the past 16 months. Last week a co-worker that is also a member with me told me about this sight that was slandering the owner Justin Dowie. I cannot speak for his actions with these upset consumers / high-school acquaintances of his. What I can do however is speak about my experiences with him and his new staff over the last 6 months; they have treated me great! When the new staff came on they gave me 2 free personal training sessions and forthe last 6 months I get a call every month by either Justin himself or one of the staff members to see how my workouts are going. They seem like they truly do care. I feel sorry for all of these ex-members who maybe did not get the same kind of service. I read Justin's response, on one of the complaints, to all of them though and if I were them I would take advantage of his generosity with the FREE six month membership that he promised everyone. Just wanted to express my opinion on the situation. And I'm case any one is wondering; NO, I was not asked to write this by any of the employees or Justin. I am writing this to defend his club and quality services that have been given to me. I wish him and his club continued success. P.S- To whoever is responsible for doing it, thanks for the new complimentary towel service.

Bad customer care
I was contacted and asked if I wanted to continue my membership, I said no and gave adequate reason and the lady told me nicely that she would handle that for me so I naturally assumed that is the last I would hear of that.
A few months later I realise that money is still being taken out of my account. I try and ring up the gym (to no avail [as usual]) then finally contact them and tell them the problem, only then do they tell me that I need to contact them in writing to cancel my membership. Then, the next week money is still being taken out of my account, I ring up and ask why to be told there is a 30 day cancellation charge? I'm not even sure the name of the charge it is so outrageous, basically they keep taking money off you for 30 days once your membership is canceled. When I tell the lady that I think she is running a bad business she proceeds to slam the phone in my ear, I ring up again so I can explain why I am so frustrated and she rants about something rather and ends up hanging up on me again. Then she turns her phone off.

Contract Lies
On 1/16/11 I joined Snap Fitness online, and was told that I would receive a call from my local club soon. I received a call on 1/19/11 and signed all of the paper work on 1/20/11. I was told when I signed the papers that I would have until midnight on the 3rd business day to cancel my membership, and receive a full refund. I tried the gym out twice. Both times it was extremely hot and crowded in there, and once I was almost thrown across the room when the treadmill went from 4.5 to 25 in the matter of a second! I have belonged to gyms for years and I have NEVER had a treadmill do that! So, on the evening of the 3rd business day I emailed the owner, and said that I wanted to cancel my membership. His return email to me was curt, but he said that he did cancel my membership, and gave me the name of the person to contact at the corporate office in MN about returning my key card...which I paid $20 for!
Of couse today I received a call from Daedra in corporate who said that I would not be receiving a refund because I did not cancel within 3 business days of signing up online...NOT what I was told when I signed all of the paperwork in person, and NOT what that paperwork states! She did receive my key card back; however, I was told that I would not even receive the $20 that I paid for the card. So, why did I return it?
I tried to dispute the charges through Bank of America, but they were no help. Needless to say that card just went through the shredder! They gave me the line that I had 3 days from the online submission, and that I would not receive a refund for the enrollment charge, the key card, or the club fee...which I should have been refunded at least the club fee because according to their paper work I cancelled within the 3 business day. However, in their world they count Sat and Sunday as business days because they are open 24/7. Just more ways to come up with reasons to stick it to the consumer.
I have never had a company treat me like this. Instead of being concerned that I did not like their facility, and that I will bad mouth them too as many people as I possibly can, they choose to not resolve this with me. I could see if I used the gym for weeks, but we are talking about twice. I hope that people read this, and decide to stay far, far away from all Snap Fitnesses.

exposed personam and financial data on internet
Gregg Johnson, [email protected], the owner of this Snap Fitness sent an unsecured email to at least 3 Recipients that contained my full name, complete address, home and work phone number, date of birth, CREDIT CARD NUMBER and 3 digit security code. I would not trust my personal information with him again.
I honestly had no issues with the operation of the facility or the staff. I needed a place to work out and 24 hour access was great.
But anyone who would be so careless as to email personal information and financial data of customers over unsecured Internet clearly can't be trusted with thousands of other customer contracts and data. At minimum a PCI Credit Card Compliance audit should be done on the facilities Gregg owns. For one thing it is very bad to store the 3 digit security code and especially with the credit card numbers!

Poor standards, Steals money
Poor standards, Steals money I recently joined Snap Fitness at Viman Nagar in Pune but unfortunately i a very dissatisfied about doing so. I noticed that it was very hot while working out and that the Air Conditioners were either not switched on or were not working properly. So i informed the front desk about the same. The person there tells me that they are waiting for some spare parts from the AC company and they do not know when its gonna be fixed, in a very arrogant tone. I also come to know it has been like this since the past 3 months. I ask the next day again as its hotter, i told that there is nothing more that can be done and that i have to cope with the hot surroundings as you charge a lower fee than other chains (it was unbelievable listing to his justification). Later, i was told that the AC will not be fixed anytime soon. I was given an option of either continuing in the heat or to accept supplements(whey protein) for the price of the membership minus an unbelievable fee of 1920Rs. Upon asking again i was told that the AC would not be fixed anytime soon as there were not "enough number of complaints". So i was forced to accept Whey Protein tubs for the membership price minus cancellation fee(1900+rs!) I asked several times to wave off that fee but, it was not done and justified as fees for card( there has never been any card). Being helpless i finally left carrying 5lbs and 2lb tubs of Whey. I also had to pay an extra 901Rs!! So I was compelled to leave due to sub standard conditions, accept a cancellation fee of 1900+RS which is not ustifiable. And even the remaning amount cannot be refunded but you do more bossiness offering Whey protein. So Snap has different standards in US and India. In US you have a 30 day results guarantee. And here im taken for a ride! So in short- No AC functional at Gym Gym's hotter that outside Staff tell me there is no chance of the AC being fixed soon At first i'm told nothing can be done about getting my money back if i leave. On the next day i'm told accepting Supplements for a cancellation fee of 1900+rs is the only way to go. Im forced to accept this making a loss of 1900+ rs and paying an additional 900rs. So you guys do not maintain the standards required by Snap Franchise, have arrogant staff and a cancellation policy does not exist!!! Please refund me the cancellation fee as it is very unethical

Cancellation FEE
I advise anyone who is considering joining to take a HARD look at the "NON-CONTRACT" they get you to sign.
They advertise that its commitment free and you can sign up month to month, however there is a catch. They will bill you for your first and last month when you join up, but if you try and cancel the automatic withdrawal you will have big problems. They will keep trying to persuade you to stay with the tactic to get you back in the doors. YOU CAN NOT CANCEL OVER THE PHONE. You have to meet them in person. If you leave a note or fax one to them they will pretend they never received it. It has happened to 3 people who signed up with me.
Remember that contract you didn't sign? Well you signed a contract stipulating that you will pay for another month somehow and they are going to charge you 25 bucks plus the regular monthly subscription for some reason. Remember that card you PAID for originally? Well now that they have you in person canceling your subscription signing some "release forms, " they want that back now.
The facility is nice, but if you're going to go to this gym, make sure you follow the cancellation stipulations down to the point. What a costly frustration!!
