I ordered these as a gift for my girlfriends birthday, I saw that they were plugged on moneysavingexpert.com and knew she wanted a pair.
Be aware that the saving you make on these is not great after you have had your tax invoice from TNT.
In small print on their t&c's on their website you can see the following:
"Some international orders might be subject to import taxes/duties and customs clearance fees. For information regarding such fees, please contact your local customs authority. Any such fees are the responsibility of the parcel recipient and are not paid by Snug Australia.
Certain countries may prohibit the import of specific goods or brands. If unsure whether any such restrictions apply to the destination country, please check with the local customs authorities before making a purchase. Snug Australia will not be responsible for any goods ceased by the customs and any associated costs as a result of those restrictions. "
on a £70 order i was not expecting to be hit with £30.56 of customs charges, making these as expensive yet a lot more laborious to buy than a pair over the counter and having them that day instead of waiting a week for them to arrive.
What disgusted me the most about this, is that when i called TNT to query it, the girl who answered said that it does mention this on their website near the bottom. She told me they get a lot of people call with this problem, and that she herself thought that they ought to make it a lot clearer.
I think in regards to trading standards, this is a disgrace, this is a what 30-45% tax rate on their products for clearing the UK shore? My honest advice is to never ever deal with this company, they clearly make a living out of selling to people on the other side of the world, and then allowing TNT, a third party to be the ones who invoice you as a customer, so that they can deny all accountability.
I will never order from them again, and strongly urge you to do the same. If their website had made this clear and had given me an approximation before i had ordered, i might feel quite different about this, but as it stands i feel that these are very underhand sales tactics.
