Bad service & fraudulent practice
I have bought a SONY VAIO. I complaint so many times about the problem with Battery & Optical Drive. Always, it is return back to me stating it is functioning well. Just after 15 days of over warranty, they says need to replace the battery & optical drive. I informed them that it is under extended warranty. They check & found that i am correct. Now, they says Optical Drive will be replaced but battery will be chargeable. I asked them to go for replacing the optical drive. But when i received the laptop back from them the optical drive was old one only and neither they have replaced nor repaired it. Also, they have kept the extended DDR Main memory of 1 GB from the laptop. When i informed about the same, they states may be main memory is removed by my known person or myself and for optical drive submit your laptop again at service center, we will look into it.

Awful warranty service
I bought a phone from Sony that died a few months later. After I called customer service to get it replaced under warranty, the sent me a downgraded phone! When I called them back, they said they didn’t have my phone in stock, so they had the right to give me another model. Shouldn’t they have upgraded my phone instead? These guys are a joke!
When I called them back to try to get the problem resolved, they wouldn't listen to me. I can tell you one thing for sure - I'm never buying a Sony phone again. And I am going to share this story with as many people as possible due to their bad service after the fact.

Bad battery
On May 15, 2008 I purchased the SONY battery NP-FH70 for my SONY camcorder. In the package of the SONY battery it is clearly advertised that the duration of the battery is 6.5 hours, however, the real lasting time of the battery (fully charged) in my SONY camcorder is 275 minutes (in standby mode). I called SONY customer relationships for a solution (event number E37369675). A sales representative called John (id. number CQVA) said that there is nothing that SONY can do about it.

Bad service
Sony has refused, so far, to fix an optical block problem on a KDFE50A10 (Grand Wega) Rear Projection LCD television. We paid approximately $2, 500 for this television. Sony now says it is out of warranty and we will have to pay the $1, 000 plus repair bill ourselves. The television lasted slightly more than two years before this situation developed. In addition, several of their other models have this problem and they have fixed some of them at no cost to the owners.
The (non-)customer service personnel in Manila are the best at saying "no" it is not our problem that I have ever encountered. They were extremely arrogant and dogmatic in their refusal to even think of helping the customer...it is defend Sony against those evil people who should have known better than buy a television set from Sony.
When paying a premium price for a television you expect a premium product with premium service...not so with Sony.

Poor after sale service
I have been a hard core loyal customer of Sony. From our digital camera to DVD player every electronic good is from SONY. My brand loyalty got a shaking experience when i have purchased my DVD.
We have purchased our Music system -Model No.- MHC-GNZ 88D/CE12 on 18-Feb-2007 from your authorised dealer R.R.Enterprises, Meerut. The recipt No. was 7373 and amt paid was 19500.00. This was my birthday gift from my parents. That point of time i was posted at Chandigarh and therefore not able to check the functionality of my DVD player.
During installation one of the engineer (they called them service engineer) came, CD/Audio/MP3/FM/Karoke all was working fine except the DVD's were not running. On complaining, the service engineer (unfortunatly my father didn't recollect his name now) told that this is because of some fault in TV. TV is not able to get the output of DVD. My father who is not that much techno savvy believed him.
Now, when i came back to my home town and received a note from your company about the expiry of warranty, we immediatly called to the service dealer mentioned in the letter. The REAL PROBLEM STARTS FROM HERE:
FIRST ROUND OF MENTAL HARRASSMENT
Me and my my wife has made 17 calls to service center to get the DVD repaired.
Everytime different people picked the phone and assured(everytime) that our engineer will visit today evening.
That evening came after 7 days.
Some part was defective (engineer acknowledged that the part is defective since beginning).
Part was replaced in next 4 days ( again few more calls to take follow up)
NOW, SECOND ROUND OF MENTAL HARRASSMENT BEGINS
DVD error was recitified, BUT FM Stopped PLAYING.
Again, the chase for engineer "sahib"
Few more calls, Anyhow engineer came and got rectified.
THIRD ROUND OF MENTAL HARRASSMENT
FM AGAIN STOPPED PLAYING.
THE CHASE IS ON
3 CALLS ALREADY MADE, NOT ENGINEER "SAHIB" CAME TILL THIS DATE.

Replacement lamps!
BEWARE buying SONY data DLP projectors as computer monitor displays or as home theater video displays as it is the beginning of a very expensive addiction. Firstly the projectors cost a small fortune and as if that were not bad enough you find out you have to buy replacement lamps often. Secondly therefore you must pay $400 plus for a lamp that is only warranted for ninety days and conveniently dies not long after the 90 day period : then you have to buy another 90 day $400 plus lamp. I suspect that they are really just selling or is it pushing vastly overpriced lamps once they have you trapped into their Business web, having committed yourself by buying their overpriced projectors. The lamp materials probably actually cost pennies and the finished lamp should sell for $25 max.
BEWARE OF SONY!

Cheating in relacement and reapiring
I, Manish Taneja, R/0, 3-H/8 N.I.T. Faridabad, purchased a Sony DVD Writer DRU170C on 26th Feb'07 along with my ten friends who alos purchased the same. After just two weeks when I started CD writing it wasn't working properly and my number of CD's got burned but not working. I gave it to the shopowner. After 10 days I got my DVD Wirter back in replacement but this was AW-Q170A , a different product of Sony with a cheaper value. At that time I was not known about this. It was writing CD's properly but after a week when i tried for DVD writing it didn't worked propely and tampered my number of DVD's. Due to my exams session i couldn't go to the shopkeeper. I went to him at the end of August. He told me to Take it after 10 days .when i reached ther it was repaired as per shopkeeper but again not working. He sent it back again two times it came back from Sony in period of month but was still not working .On !6th Oct'07 i got it back replaced but this time its AD7190A a different product of SonyNEM Optiarc, a different product which was again much cheaper it's still not working for Blue DVD's and i have been told not to use this type of DVD's . But those DVD's are working on DRU170C's DVD Writers of my friends. I'm still not satisfied and i must say that Sony have cheated me by supplyign a cheaper and low quality product in replacement.

No service!
I bought a SONY Television KV-SR29M59K two years back from Viveks, who is a SONY vendor in Bangalore, India. Now,my television doesn't start up due to some problem and I contacted the Sony Service center in Bangalore (SSC BANGALORE NO.768 100 FEET ROAD HAL II STAGE 12TH MAIN, INDIRA NAGAR BANGALORE 560038 Phone : 25211050 ) who directed me to PENTAGON SERVICES 64 MISSION ROAD SATHI COMPLEX BANGALORE 560027 Phone : (080) 22234570 and I lodged a complaint with them for service of my Television, even after insisting for a complaint number, they did not provide me with one. They said that the technician would call and let me know of it, it's now fourth week running and I am yet to get any response. Further, repeated calls to them also has not helped, the service center executive just dump the phone on you as I questioned them on the lack luster response, this has not only angered me but generated a bad taste for SONY products.
