Sony Reviews

Camera
I purchased a Sony DSC T300 digital camera and I paid about 300.00 for the camera about 2 years ago and it is now starting to act up. It starts vibrating and you don't know if it is going to work or not. my daughter also bought the same camera and is on her second one and now her is totally dead. It will not work at all. I think when you spend that much on a camera it shoudl work longer than that. I bought extra battery and I feel like we have invested alot of money for it not to work at all.

poor expensive product bad service
After spending so much time and money with Sony I won’t waste any more time so I will keep the story short.
I have spent 1, 600 on a Sony Vaio computer, once working in a plane I have very gentle touched the screen on a corner and the screen completely broke in half. Even that the computer was only 3 months old Sony said that it was not a manufacturing problem and even that it would be the screen i9s not covered by the warranty. They have asked me to send the computer to Belgium as they didn’t have any repair center in London… cost 800 pounds on top of the 1600. The Sony agents were arrogants and had no desire to help ore easy the pain of dealing with their rip off computer.
After one year the shiny silver color started to fade away from inside where I was keeping my hands to type remaining only some ugly grey plastic.
3 years on the hard drive had completely broke down with no possibility to be reformatted or recover any data from it…. So my very expensive affair with Sony Vio 2400 pounds was very disappointing and frustrating. I would not recommend to anyone to buy a Sony computer unless you are a sadist and like to be badly treated and ripped off.

sells expensive defective product
I own a Grand Wega 50 inch TV that was purchased 2003 for $3000. Over 7 years, the TV had broken twice big time, needing to replace a circuit board (the lamp ballast), in addition to the lamp blew out after 2 years (1/3 of its lifetime). And numerous other times, the TV turned off and I had to unplug or wait before it would turn on again. All together I had paid $750 to TV repairmen to fix the problems. This month, the lamp bursted and plastic charred. The blinking signals told me that it might be the lamp ballast problem again. This time instead of paying another $600, I decided to look up on the internet about the problem. I found out that the TV was a defective product to start with. It had an overheating problem, which explained the short lifetime of the light bulb. This might also have caused the circuit to break twice in 7 years. Sony did not update me with the problem even I was a registered product owner. I had to search the internet to find out that they were forced to extend their warranty from some lawsuit because of this problem and another overheating problem. I called up sony this time after knowing about these problems. Sony originally stated that my TV was out of warranty, but I insisted that I read on the internet that the warranty had been extended to 2013. They knew they had to accept that because I was armed with the information. They eventually gave me the name of 2 authorized repair person and said that I would have to pay if they decided that it was not the same problem that they extended the warranty on. This was the trick! They had a overheating problem in general that would damage the TV in various way. But they would not admit that it was their problem if it was not severe enough... In my case who knows whether the broken circuits were caused by the overheated compartment. My lamp was broken into pieces, the plastic around my lamp was charred and a little piece was broken. This was not exactly the 'lamp door warped' problem as they had written it on their website, for the lamp door was not warped, but it was certainly a more minor case of overheating in the lamp compartment. I called up the 2 sony authorized repair person (Mark Allister and TV Unlimited). Both of them required money to come out. TV unlimited asked for $95, I did not even bother to ask Mark Allister how much it cost to come out. TV unlimited wanted to see my original receipt even they know it would show that the original 2 year warranty had expired, and this repair has nothing to do with the original warranty. Mark Allister said unless the door is warped, sony is not going to pay for repair... And if you are handy, you can buy the parts from sony for $250+ for the lamp ballast and $100 for a replacement lamp, and tried to repair the tv yourself... The point is, sony sell defective TVs for a high price. Instead of trying to make things right, they try to hide the problems and solutions from registered customers so that they will limit their cost to make the fixes. In addition, they sell replacement parts for the defective TVs at a high price to even make more money. And finally their authorized repair people work for the company, you have to pay them inorder to get them out and tell you that this is not a sony problem... Sony has lost me as a customer forever. Nothing in all of these tell me that the company and its people are honest people who happen to produce a single defective product.

Bravia KDL-32L4000
Purchased Sony Bravia TV about a year and a half ago. About 5 months ago black semicircles began appearing on screen, we now have two on right side and one in middle on lower part of screen. TV has never been moved and not subject to any temperature or light extremes. Sony was no help when contacted and offered no resolution. They informed me that warrantly is expired and Sony did not offer extended warranty on this model(I wonder why?). I supposed they would prefer to lose a customer for life than offer some solution. I have never owned a TV that went bad in such a short amount of time. Oh, wait, I have never owned a Sony TV before. Lesson learned, I will never purchase any Sony products in the future.

tv lcd
I bought my sony LCD KDL-40S4100 on 6/23/08 the tv already took a crap. when turn on it goes in to stand by mode and you can't do nothing about it. It is very sad when we are permiting these company to be saling product that only last a few years for that amount of money been paid. Where is the consumer protection agency and what are thye doing? seems to me that every corporation have them in their pocket. If I was the attorney general I already be launching an inevestigation in to Sony and others. There is a reason why sony only give you a year waranty because after that you are on you own.

DEFICIENT REPAIR SERVICE
I bought a SONY DSCH50 in 2009 and last month it started reporting error until I was no longer able to use it at all. Recommended by Sony Portugal, I took it to the repair shop which is more than 50 kms from my house. About two weeks later they returned the camera to me by regular mail. When I went and use it I realized that it was in even worse condition than when I first brought it to them: the zoom is no longer working properly, ISO no longer focuses on its own and it still reports "error" when I introduce the memory stick!
I contacted the shop to report the situation and then Sony Portugal again to ask to have the camera picked up as I find that it doesn't make sense for me to have to support aditional transport costs considering that they didn't even repair the camera!
All I receive are replies saying "your case is being forwarded to the responsible section". Two weeks have gone by and nothing has been done.
What are we supposed to think about SONY and what type of recommendations are we supposed to give when somebody asks our opinion about what type to buy?!

Bad front panels within two years
We purchased a Sony Bravia LCD TV from Best Buy that had problems with the front panel within a year. We are not TV technicians and were unaware of the problem at first. The TV would have darker coloring and horizontal lines that would clear up after several minutes. When we described the problem we were told that the problem could be with our cable service provider, Dish Network, and we should call them. We called our cable service provider, Dish Network, and after a half hour or more of going through many options they told us that the problem was with the Sony Bravia LCD TV. We called Sony and were told that the problem could be with our cable. Sony told us to have our TV checked by our cable service provider. The cable service provider checked the TV in person and told us that the problem was with the Sony Bravia LCD TV. We did not know what was happening with the TV as the problem got worse. After several more calls to Sony and our TV now being out of warranty we expressed our frustration and told Sony that they should have known what the problem was and that they should stand behind their product. Sony had us call a TV repair facility of their choice that found the problem to be with the front panel of the Sony Bravia LCD TV.
