Poor Customer Service
I have a Sony VAIO VGN-FW45MJ laptop bought on 30th August, 2009. A month ago my laptop adapter started to overheat and it my laptop could not be charged. Since my laptop came under 1 yr international warranty I approached a customer care/ sony service centre to check my laptop for faults. The man I approached told me that it IS a fault due to my adapter hence I need to buy a new adaptor. It should be underlined that "that MAN" wasn't even interested to check my laptop from his attitude. After a few days I bought a new adapter of SONY and connected it to my Laptop for charging. After sometime I heard a click sound from my adapter and it went OFF. I think its malfunctioned hence I request you to check with the concerned people IMMEDIATELY and replace or/and repair my laptop or/and it adapter as I lost Rs.2300/- from buying the adapter. It should be also noted that my laptops warranty period gets over on the 30th of August, 2010.

No repair service
I have bought a netbook Sony Vaio because I thought Sony makes their laptops with better quality, so desided to pay more for a laptop that would work fine. But after 5 monthes my laptop suddenly just stopped working completely, some hard drive error.
We brought the laptop to the authorised Sony service office in Helsinki, they took it but after one week they gave it back not fixed, they told us that they cannot repair it and we have to write directly to some Sony office.
We wrote to them, they wrote back asking when by DHL they could pick up my laptop and promised to repair it in about 5 days. But not on the days we wrote, not later nobody picked it up. Then they called from Sony saying they would take it on the next day but nothing again. Almost one month passed and no one came to pick up the laptop for repearing and Sony doesn't even answer on e-mails anymore.
I had a big respect to Sony products before, but not anymore. I stayed with broken laptop, I cannot use it which means I just threw my money out when I could buy cheaper laptop with better futures and which could be repaired fast and with no problem if it would get broken.
I thought I would buy my next big laptop in Sony, but I'm totally disappointed, I don't think I would buy any Sony again and I won't recommend Sony Vaio laptops to anyone.

speaker is not working properly
sir,
i have Sony vaio e-series model no.-vpceb16fg.
i am not satisfied from this laptop`s speaker . when i had purchased this laptop after one day my laptop`s speaker is giving problem to me and then i give this laptop to Sony service center and they repair this laptop but again and again so, kindly take n action regarding this problem, otherwise i have to take some action regarding to this problem .

Defective Speakers
Hi,

Have got the Sony Vaio Notebook purchased from US. Only a month later, speakers got damaged automatically (only after the usage of 15-20 days). Since this product was bought from US, imported to India (without international warranty) have to got it repaired from SONY authorised dealer in JANPATH at the cost of 2900/-.

Was wondering the well known brand like SONY is not considering the damage as a manufacturing defect and charging the amount to get the same rectified.

My question is that if a product got damage after the considerate amount of usage, only then the question of warranty come into exisitence. IS THIS THE SUPPORT OR SERVICE, sony is providing to their customers.

I am yet to hear back from since the time I have lodged a complaint.

poor quality
sony vaio products have a very poor quality. sony laptops gets hang . its fan doesnt work. i have repaired it 2 times within 1 year

sony is now selling its products just because of their name. there products have very poor quality. even in mobiles.

Sony VAIO cheated me
Hi,

I purchased a Sony VAIO Laptop VGN - CR 35 G/L two years back for 55, 000/- from Sur Sangam electronics Andheri. Since its purchase the Lap top CD Drive and Speakers were not working, however I didnt repair it as it was not important at that time as I had another CD Drive as well as external speakers.
Recently my laptop refused to boot so I gave it to the Sony Authorized Service Centre at Saki Naka Andheri. ( Job # :- 300740405 ) I was informed next day that the (1) Motherboard battery needs to be replaced and it will cost 275/-. I further asked how much will it cost to repair the CD Drive as well as the left speaker. Since the quote was too high ( 9, 000/- ) I preferred not to repair it as I simply wanted the Laptop to start as always. Before I collected the Laptop I checked it and it was working fine however Day 2 morning it refused to boot again. When I called the Customer Care department they informed me that I REFUSED TO REPAIR THE LAPTOP. ( I had not refused to repair the Laptop, I had refused to repair the CD Drive and the speakers as it was not important for me). After lots of argument I was told that (2)the laptop is not working as the CD Drive was not working. ( My CD Drive as I mentioned was not working for over 2 years and the CD Drive had nothing to do with the Laptop). However since I was in Bangalore for work I could not give the Laptop for repair again.
After I came back from Bangalore I again gave the Laptop for servicing at the same place ( Job Number was not given but you can cross check it with my serial number - 70000792). I told the Manager in charge that I am not refusing to repair the laptop as what they told me. I just wanted my laptop to start. on 27th May I got a MSG stating(3) " your Sony service request is logged as job no. 000300747683. The Initial repair estimate is Rs. 27014/-" Shocked I called the department and asked for an explanation. (4)They told me that the Motherboard is tampered and few parts are missing and hence it will cost 27014/- however, (5)Ms. Reema told me that they will repair the Laptop (Including the ODD and speakers) for 14500/-. It was weird that such a discount was offered but I still agreed as it sounded better than 27014/- . In the evening I again got a call from the Technician Mr. Deepak claiming that someone has tampered with my Laptop, some parts are missing and my (6)motherboard was swapped with another Sony model Motherboard. I told him that apart from the Sony Team, no one has touched my Laptop and I still insist on it. He told me that hence I will have to pay the entire 27, 000/- amount. I kept on calling the 1800 number and Mr. Syed told me that my (7)laptop is repaired and I can collect it on 28th May for 14, 500/- When I told the same to the technician Mr. Deepak he refused it by saying that the Laptop is under observation. Ms. Reema later on calls me and informs me that (8)l she is sorry but its better that I don't repair the laptop as the final cost of repairing the laptop is more than 34, 000/-Reason the LAN card and other things are now not working(All of which was functioning perfectly). I informed them that I don't trust Sony anymore and I need my Laptop back asap. ( Sadly unaware of all of this I had booked a Sony LCD that very same day which I am planning to return back and take Samsung LCD)
Next day I have made 7 calls in vain trying to figure out the status of my laptop but no response. I was told that Mr. Alwin who is the regional Manager for mumbai will be calling me to resolve this. So far no call.

Please note all the 8 different stories that was told to me by Sony team and tell me who is at fault. As a customer when we give our Lap tops for repair, we trust Sony that they will repair it properly and not tamper with it. A simple repair job costing 275/- is now costing me in excess of 34, 000/-. When I took my Laptop from Sony after servicing the Laptop for the first time I cant check and open the machine and see if each and every part is there in it properly. I have made a complain with the 'Consumer Complain Board" and I also noticed many other people with exact similar experience on www.complaintsboard.com. I am further escalating it and ensuring that Sony Corp. is sued for Cheating and Harassment. I am a Sr. Manager with a reputed firm and I am not a conventional Customer who will keep quiet and suffer. I will shout this from the roof tops and make myself heard. I have already contacted people from Mid-Day, MTV, Channel V, Free Press Journal and will add more to the list.

I had a Samsung Laptop and their service was top notch. Its really shameful that a company like Sony is resorting to such shams and cheating their customers.

All I am asking from Sony is for a Manager to call me and resolve this at the earliest.

P.S :- While Typing this email I got a call from Ms. Reema who told me that now the LCD is also damaged and the estimated repair cost cannot be determined but its more than 45, 000/-. I called up 1 800 103 7799 and Ms. Jyoti refused to co-operate and transfer the call to anyone including the supervisor. All I wanted was a Manager to talk to.

Sony will not refund, nor repair my laptop
I got a Vaio laptop for Christmas that never did work right. After a few minutes to a few hours the vaio would BSoD & not be able to turn back on until after it cooled down. After some inspection I found that the battery is about 1/16 of an inch from fitting snug. Every time the PC would be moved or touched on the bottom (near the battery) it would shut off. Sony says this is normal! And they refuse to refund my almost one thousand dollars spent on a computer that fits together as poorly as if a 2 year old had assembled it.

BAD SERVICE ATTITUDE AND QUALITY CONTROL
A laptop of Series SR was bought in July '09 with lines on screen during starting, shutting down and hibernating. Complaints had been made to the Sony distributor and a claim of software faulty was declared.
Due to the urgency of aboarding for studies and time constraint, laptop was brought overseas without sending into Sony Service Centre (Service takes 2~3 weeks).
4 months later, laptop was brought back to Malaysia for service. On the 19th Dec '09, SR was sent to Distributor and a claimed that 2~3 weeks of service time would be taken. On the 19th Jan '10, distributor called and said that laptop was available for collection. Upon collection, laptop was checked and a claimed of changing of LCD was made. However, obviously the problem of the laptop having lines during starting up, shutting down and hibernating was not solved at all.
A complaint was made directly to the KL service centre right after that. Staff from Sony said that they could only help me unless I send in my SR for the second time. On the 27th Jan '10, laptop was then send directly to JBS and a promise of 1~2 weeks of service would be taken. Calls were made to KL service centre for assurance and service tracking. KL claimed that it was due to the LCD and they were waiting for sparepart to arrive. A few complaints were made after a few days. a confirm date of 8th Mar '10 was given for the new LCD to arrive at KL. Due to the urgency, I requested a replacement or refund from Sony and they claimed that another 2~3 weeks would be taken for them to process it. However, I've already made myself clear that my flight was near to date and my laptop was still at KL waiting for the sparepart or replace or refund.
On 10th Feb '10, Sony service centre claimed that the LCD was fixed and they have already run it a few times for quality checking and so the laptop was sent back to JBS. Again, laptop still having the same problem upon my 2nd collection from service centre.
Upon the dissapointment, another complaint was made to KL service centre and laptop was then send back to KL again (for the 3rd time). After a few hours, KL staff called and claimed that the laptop problem was due to the specification and not all the SR having same problem.
On 11th Feb '10, staff called and said that no replacement will be done due to the specification of the laptop and ALL SR ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. Besides, a comment of " The problem of the screen is still the Quality Control tolerable range" was made from SONY. If there is QC, why only my laptop have such problem?
Another complaint of the loose LAN port cover was made at the same time. Nothing was done.

Noisy fan
hello sony vaio... i am saba yahya i bought sony vaio laptop from malaysia on 13-03-2009 after 9 months the fan is making too much noise that is irritating me and i am mentally upset beacuse i paid extra money 199 ringit for the over seas service n warranty also but this overseas service doesnt cover Pakistan i dont know why...therefore before purchasing this overseas service i asked them is this applicable in Pakistan they said to me yes...i am very much disappointed from sony vaio...i ve many sony products but my charm is over...i am crazy about vaio laptops but unfortunetly this craziness is over because of this irritaing fan noice...please give me possitive response ...i'll be very thakful to u if i resolve my this problem

Black Friday Ad
A Sony laptop was advertised for $399...Black Friday deal..shop onlin 2AM 11/26 or in stores 5 AM 11/27..
I was online from 1:30 AM til 3:30 AM the laptop was NEVER AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE..it kept saying COMING SOON! customer service said the website made a TYPO..it should have said 12 AM 11/27 online..so today, 11/26 Thursday at 10 AM I went to the website and WOW..it now shows SOLD OUT online..so did that rep lie to me? was it ever available? so I called and spoke to 3 different reps today..the 1st two said to go online at 12 AM..so I was transferred to the ESCALATION department..the rep said IT SHOWS SOLD OUT online..he said THEY ARE BEING TOLD IT PROBABLY SOLD OUT ON BLACK MONDAY, WHEN PREMIER CARDHOLDERS WERE ABLE TO PURCHASE ITEMS..but the rep said they WERE NOT SURE..I asked if I should go online tonight at 12 AM like the other 2 reps said he replied HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN..so it's now 11:30 PM...there are at least 4 tents and 25 people at the store camping out for the 5AM opening..so I will wait and look online again at 12 AM..although right now it still shows SOLD OUT ONLINE!
