On tuesday the 1st dec i rang to complain about a bill for $130 which i received for a months worth of electricity in an apartment! Tehy told me it would be looked into and someone would be out to re-read the meter.
I recieved a call from my wife at 6:30pm on the 3rd of Dec saying our power had been shut off. Ringing SCE, they claim that there is no record of having done this and maybe someone in the building shut off the outside breaker to the apartment and there was nothing they could do.
Arriving home i checked to inside apartment fuse box and all was in order is i went to security to arrange for the maintenance man to come and switch it back on. I promptly received a call from him checking that i'd paid my bill because if i hadn't there was nothing he could do and i'd have to deal with SCE. He wanted double reassurance as he had to make a 30 minute drive to do this. I guaranteed him, say i'd spoken to SCE and they had said it was nothing to do with them.
When he finally arrived he found that the power had been shut off on our breaker, with a red tag attached saying SCE do not remove or a heavy fine will apply!
I rang back to have there customer service telling me there is nothing in there records and was is sure. Having sat in the dark for the better part of 4 hours and having a maintenance person point out the tag I was pretty sure. By this time the maintenance man had left and rescued the room.
SCE said someone would be out within the hour to resolve the issue. one hour and ten minutes passed in the dark before i call back, only to go through the automated phone message and re-explain my story to the, i think, third assistant. She firstly refused to look into sending someone out because i couldn't prove to her that the red tag was on my breaker box (she wanted the numbers) she then asked me if someone elses power was meant to be cut (!!!) and then tells me that no one can be sent out at this hour.
I asked for a manager, who appologized (the first person to do so in several phone calls), and said nothing can be done till the morning because no one is working at this hour (now 10:30 pm) I said surly there was emergency crew, which she denied and said 9am will be when someone can do this for me. I asked what i was meant to do with all the defrosted food, milk and the fact i had been in the dark for the hours on end when clearly this could have been fixed when i first rang is someone had cared to listen, all she could do was say sorry and there was nothing that could be done.
9 am this morning (4th dec) ring to ensure someone is coming to fix the issue to find that no one is, and still no one is working that can fix the issue, and to call back and maybe in 30 - 60 mins someone maybe working then.
Still no one comes, and still i have no power at my house. The worst part is SCE is exclusive to my appartment complex and there is nothing i can do about the issue at hand or changing carriers. its all up to them, and if they aren't willing to help I'm left in the dark with no power in every sense of the word.
