We hired Southern California Moving & Storage to move my Mother from Temecula, CA to Kingston, TN. In between the time she hired them and the actual move she had a surgery that went terribly awry, and almost died. They used this as a means to take advantage of her, and increased the price of her move from $10, 000.00 to $15, 000.00 (in direct violation FMCSA Regulations). They also told us all of their employees were fully Insured and Bonded, yet upon further investigation, it was found their lead packer was a Felon three (3) times over (Felons are unbondable). Before the move some of my Mothers Jewelry was missing (while the packers were there). I contacted the Police and before they arrived the Driver sent two (2) of the packers home, allowing them to escape prosecution with my mothers jewelry. The owner refused to return any of our calls and instructed his employees not to give out their Insurance Information (again in direct Violation of FMCSA Regulations). It has been a nightmare. When the movers arrived in TN they refused to unload anything until we paid the full price plus $5, 000.00 as they said they had estimated the total weight wrong. In essence they held our belongings hostage until we paid (again in direct violation of FMCSA Regulations). Upon doing a Civil background on the company it was found they have been sued close to thirty (30) times in Riverside County area over the last ten (10) years. I have no doubt they have been sued many more times in the last ten (10) years in other Counties. They are liars, thieves and scam artists at there very best, and should be banned from the Moving Industry Permanently.
