We want to warn consumers about companies that purport themselves as green, or environmentally minded. In actuality, they likely are, as in our case, taking advantage of unsuspecting homeowners – taking more “green” than they are giving.
A few months ago we were taken by one such company, Spring Air, Inc in Jacksonville, Oregon (810 N. 5th St, Jacksonville, OR 97530). In particular, they illegally inflated pricing of equivalent lower cost equipment and services, misrepresenting it as environmentally friendly and technologically superior. It was not. Beyond this, there were also promises of unsurpassed customer service and unmatched, trained and certified, installers. In actuality, they displayed only an unmatched level of incompetent, if not illegal, practices. Now thinking about it, if experience and competence are the judge, maybe they were green after all.
Fortunately, we were savvy enough to record all of their schemes, including some fast talking salespeak, in action, and currently, we have several organizations (NATE, BBB, Oregon CCB) scrutinizing their practices. However, we want this story to reach a larger audience. Today’s consumer thinks green and therefore the potential exists for these companies to prey on greater numbers of unsuspecting people. In fact as we write this, Spring Air is scheduled to air a commercial, expected to reach just such a wider audience. We don't think this company in particular, or any other such company, should be allowed to air their words without consumers having an equal opportunity to voice theirs.
