On Dec 4, 2010, I had booked and put a deposit down on a Banquet Room called the TAMARAC room at the Springfield Golf and Country Club in Guelph, Ontario for my wedding which took place on Saturday May 28, 2011. I have a signed contract from the Banquet Manager, myself and my now Husband. On the day of my wedding, I found out 2 hours before that the General Manager of Springfield changed my room for my wedding which was much smaller than the room I booked, put a deposit for and have a contract. I spoke with the General Manager and said he was in breach of the contract. His response was that the hall had double booked this room and there was nothing they could do. My sister, father and sister-in-law also spoke with the General Manager to express our concerns about Breach of Contract and that I wanted the hall that I booked and put a deposit down for on December 4, 2010. The room they decided to give me without my consent or knowledge was much smaller and crowded for a full service meal. None of my plans were at all followed as was promised that they would be. They totally ignored my seating plan. My wedding cake was hidden in a corner that was not visible to my guests and family. My head table had to be removed after dinner to make room for a dance floor. Furthermore, my entire family especially my parents and I were extremely stressed. The General Manager was well aware of this through our conservations with him to make this right and he did not do anything to rectify the situation. The D.J's set-up was extremely crammed as he had to set-up in a corner of the room.
The night before this occurred, May 27, 2011 (My rehearsal night) the Banquet Manager showed my family and I the room that I booked (Tamarac) and explained how the tables were going to be set up. At no time did she mention a change of rooms. To find out 2 hours before my wedding ceremony (May 28, 2011) that they changed my room without consent or knowledge was a HUGE surprise and very stressful. Why would they wait and make me think up until the day of my wedding that I had the room I put a deposit for and change it without any notice?
The Premium All Inclusive Wedding Package that was included with the room and deposit was not given to me or my guests as was promised and very clearly laid out in the contract and package. My Banquet room was changed to the Pine Banquet room which only holds 25-75 dinner/dance-stated on their website was extremely crowded as we had 80 for a full service meal. My Head Table, Cake Table, & Registry table was supposed to be decorated with organza & mini lights and was not. My head table had to be removed to make room for a dance floor which I did not want removed. I was supposed to receive an Elegant Head Table backdrop with mini lights and did not receive this. My head table was crammed in front of windows and very close to each other. They did not provide enough pre-dinner appetizers for my guests as was stated in the package and promised, some guests did not get any food-received complaints. During the Four Course Gourmet Dinner served country style, some tables did not get enough food for the size of their table. The staff were unaware that I had a host bar after dinner, my M.C had to inform them. My guests were charged drinks and were not supposed to be before dinner. As far as the late night buffet goes, staff did not let me or anyone else know it was out and put into a the Spikes Lounge, a different room which I did not want. Further, my wedding gift favours were crammed in front of this room on a table in a hallway. For months and months, my family, guests and I were lead to believe that I had the room I had booked, signed and paid for until 2 hours before my wedding on May 28, 2011. What was to supposed to be the happiest day of my life, turned out to be a huge and stressful Nightmare for everyone!!!
