Sprint/nextel Reviews

Scam
I purchased the Sprint phone on Monday, 05 May 2008. I should have received the rebate by Monday, 11 August 2008. I repeatedly submitted the rebate request and each time Sprint claimed the requested was never received. After submitting the request numerous times via mail, fax, and email with the company continuing to claim the request was never received I began filing rebate complaints againt Sprint in March 2009 and I still have not received a rebate check. Sprint has lied to me and the Better Business Bureau about this matter. This company has no intentions of sending the rebate check and that is fraud! As of Sunday, 10 May 2009 I have filed a rebate fraud complaint with the following agencies and will not stop until I receive my rebate check and three months free service.

Cancellation Fees
Some of you may find it odd that I am complaining about a cancellation fee that is old from 3/2007 and I will do my best to explain.
When I was deploying to Iraq on May 20, 2007 and I understood that Sprint did not offer service in Iraq DUH!! However AT&T did so I cancelled my service with Sprint and ported my numbers over to AT&T. Also cancelling your contract in advance of receiving my orders was recommended under the SSCRA to ensure all issues were addressed under SSCRA and the company you had a contract with.
Second 2 days prior to leaving I found out that AT&T only offered service to border cities or FOB's such as Bucca north of Kuwaiti border, so I placed the AT&T phone on a hold/vacation status for not being used.
Third I sent my orders and talked with the Sprint Staff and was assured that my early cancellation fees would be returned ($325.00), I also sent them more information just prior to leaving and that if they needed information they could talk to my wife who had a power of attorney to act on my behalf while gone.
Fourth while deployments for Army personnel are from 11 to 15 months that is alot of time my wife had to manage and take care of our 8 year old child along with managing the household, a very tough job. So for her to manage everything was a challenge to say the least, my wife even called and spoke with them disputing the charge while I was gone at the begining of June 2007 in is in their notes. However with my wife under a lot of stress and worring about me she would sometimes place my mail in my office room, we didn't get to speak much while I was gone.
Fifth I was injured in Iraq and my wife received a phone call telling her that they didn't know I was going to make it, again my wife was so stressed out she could function very well but she did it. I had to stay at Fort Hood at the WTU for four months to recover prior to comming home and when I did get home it was great. I also go to the VA every week for treatment still to this day and I'm still in the military.

Sixth When I returned to my civilian employer they had me flying to Chicago every week and I live in California, spending 5 days out of the week away.
Seventh I found this letter unopened under a large stack of old paperwork yesterday, when I opened it I was suprised to find out that Sprint did not do the right thing after all, and with everything happening from then till now it was not a conversation topic between my wife and I.
Eighth I have attached the compy of the letter they sent, It says they tried to contact me after June 19, 2007 and they were not bale to do so, well ofcourse not I was in Iraq.

The were supposed to call me today to let me know about giving my money back, it is 2:10pm and the phone is still silent.

Not An Equal Opportunity Employer
I like so many americans have been affected by the growing unemployment rate, I have been unemployed for over a year now and have been searching daily as well as working temp assignments here and there and we all know the temp world. I numerous of times have been to the Sprint Careers website and have applied for several Retail Sales Position and only received one call back and interviewed...Interview went well very impressed with my work history... up until the question "Do you speak any other languages besides english?" I innocently laughed and replied "Unfortunately no" and on that note the interview was brought to an end and I was told I would be be contacted at the beginning of the next week. Days went by and no phone call, not so much as a email regarding the position...I took it upon myself to call the store to speak to the person I interviewed with and was left on hold for over 10mins, and eventually hung up on...I called back and was rudely ask what was the nature of my call and then put on hold for another 7 mins, then someone (not the person whom I interviewed with or asked to speak to) picks up the line and says quickly "Position has already been filled...Thanks for applying and keep checking the website from time to time". So sometime later I did some further investigating by going up to the store (Torrence, California) inquired about whom may have filled the position, an employee pointed out a spanish young lady, needless to say I was highly upset!! Not at the fact that she was spanish or a female, but the fact that the store is majority employed by Spanish decent and spanish speaking...there is absolutely nothing wrong with that...But I was not convinced as to why the store needed another Spanish speaking employee. This same situation has happen again except I wasn't selected to interview at the Culver City store because I failed to read that the position was seeking (Spanish Speaking) AS IF THEY REALLY NEED ANOTHER SPANISH SPEAKING EMPLOYEE!!! Once again this store is majority employed by Spanish decent/Spanish Speaking... this doesnt sound nor look like EQUAL OPPORTUNITY...looks to me like companys are now hiding behind the -Job Description- "Bilingual/Spanish Speaking" to only hire individuals who are Spanish Decent or Spanish Speaking. SPRINT/NEXTEL (NOT!!! an equal opportunity employer)

Charging me item I dont have
Sprint sent me a jabra headset which I did not order. I sent the headset back with the return kit they sent me.

It is 8/20 and they are telling me they never received it. I told them the tracking number and now they are telling me it does not match. They are very lazy and don't even go the extra step to call their warehouse to find the package.
They are horrible and I am writing a letter to BBB about this issue.

CELL PHONE COMPANY
Sprint has the worse Customer Service among all the others wireless phone companies.
The simplest issues take hours and many phone calls to be resolve. Usually the customer finishes asking to speak with a supervisor and if you are lucky may be the situation will be resolve.
ADVISE! Never, ever hang up and call again, even if the customer care representative tell you that in the next call to resolve the issue will take only few minutes. NOT BELIEVE IT. Nothing with Sprint take few minutes, the average is ONE HOUR, if is your lucky day.
My “best” record with Sprint had being FOUR HOURS.
DO NOT PAY INSURANCE on your cell phones. The company (Asurion) that is responsible to pay or replace your cell phone in case get broke or for any other reason will do whatever is possible not to replace your phone, so be prepared to fight for several hours, included threatening them to take the case to the Small Claim Court.
Never, ever go to a Sprint retail store. They are thief, usually the store employee try to overcharge you as much they can; sometimes the same phone model that they want to charge you hundreds is free in the internet.
So, if you are thinking in open an account with Sprint; please think twice.

Bad service
For two weeks now, I have been unable to get a signal on my Sprint cell phone. It'll be in fine working order one day, then unable to find the network the next. For 24 hours now, I have not had use of my cell phone, AKA my only phone. Sprint customer service being what it is, I have only received the reply, "There must be an outage" - with no information whatsoever. I live in Chicago, IL! The third largest city in the country! This is unacceptable and I would like a refund for the days I have been without service.

Bad service
The Nextel/Motorola i580 is complete junk. Sprint/Nextel markets this phone as "Rugged Construction/ Military 810F Spec" and "Rain-Resistant." Nothing could be further from the truth.

I have gone through 5 i580 phones, each replaced with a $50.00 fee, one of them for free. Here is how each phone met its demise:

i580 # 1: Screen in front went blank

i580 # 2: Both screens malfunctioned

i580 # 3: Screen in front malfunctioned

i580 # 4: Phone kept calling 911 on its own in a county 1.5 hours away that I have never been to. It would do this even when the phone was powered off.

i580 # 5: Dropped 2 feet and screens broke. It got wet due to rain.

I called Nextel to address the issues and they want me to dump more good money into this POS. I have been a Nextel customer for years and have never had issues until the i580 came into my life.

I can not imagine any military using this. Clearly this phone is cheap junk. I am upset that Nextel will not take care of its long time customers.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE!!
