Lack of understanding and no service
I have requested vehicle finance to delay a debit order as I know it will not go off. The call centre agent then informed me that they need 7 working days to change this, in this day and age this is not acceptable. Then I asked if I can terminate my debit order and pay manually on a monthly basis, to this they have said it is not allowed. I dont understand this as does it really matter how the account gets paid, it is more important that it gets paid. I am sick and tired of having to pay R115 because of incompetence and unwillingness to assist, The motto moving forward should be changed to moving backwards.

R696 for a bank statement from Standard Bank
I am medically boardered and for a recent assessment I was asked to provide my financial records since 1st Januray 2009. I can only go back 6 months on internet banking so I went into Standard Bank for help. I asked if they could email me the records or put them on a disc, but Standard Bank are unable to do this, or more likely they won't do it because they charge you R17-50 a page to print it which is far more profitable for them.
I have just collected the print out which cost me R696-00! Its robbery, and what a waste of paper, which i now have to pay to post. Explain this ripoff please Standard Bank, and why it is you are apparantly so technologically backward in the year 2010 that you could not email the statement to me. These kind of outrageous bank charges by greedy banks like Standard Bank have to be stopped as R696 for a bank statement really is just theft by the bank involved.

Not getting my airtime, but money deducted
I bought airtime via cellphone banking, it didnt go through but the amount was DEDUCTED from my account, that was thr R25.00 cell-c, i bought two of those and then later on, i bought the R30.00 MTN airtime and still it didnt go through and again money was DEDUCTED.I am so fusrated and very very angry @ the same time because those two amounts make up R85.00 and its a whole lot of money.This was the reference number i was given REF:14715664.It doesnt look like anything is being done about this.I want that money back in my account or i want the airtime and after that has been done.I NEVER WANNA USE CELLPHONE BANKING AND IM THINKING OF CHANGING FROM STANDARD BANK TO ANY OTHER BANK!!!

Closing my account without my request
Banking details & card stolen, so i went into the Constantia branch and they assisted me in re-opening a new acc and told me that my new Credit card had been ordered and will be in the branch within 7 working days. This happened, i received the new Ccard. However, unknown to me, (APPARENTLY) I requested that they CLOSE my Credit Card account?! WHY would i request that they close the account when i've JUST received my new card?!? For 2 days i get told that they'll call me back with an answer. 2 days later i get NO call back - i then decide to go into the branch myself, and after spending 1 hour in the bank - they finally get hold of the Re-instatement department who simply say that i must write a letter requesting that my card be reinstated. So, i did this and the letter together with my ID was faxed off. 2 days later - STILL no response. Eventually 1 week later im told to re-apply for a new credit card. This is unacceptable as i never requested the closure. The branch cannot tell me who actually closed the account. Service has been shocking and 2 weeks later - STILL no answer on WHO closed the acc and WHY!!

False promises leading to more damages
I exerienced damages to my property in after a storm in in the last quater of 2009.Followed the normal reporting procedure to register the claim but had no response.Followed up in December and was told contractors closed for December and if I could find someone to do the repairs.I was unable to source contractor to initiate repairs.The heavy wind and hailstones damaged the skylights and broke of the TV arial apart from other damages.I put a bucket to catch the rain that leaks from the damages.I now have carpets that are lifting and rising damp on the on wall.Apart from receiving an sms stating that someone will come overt to sort, nothing has happened and dameges are getting worse.This is very frustrating as we cannot watch clear TV and the rising carpets are casuing us to trip when walking.

No change to variable interest rate
After having been assured that the interest rate payable on my home loan would be the prime rate of 10% with no marginal variance, I was shocked to discover that no such change has been effected to the revised agreement, which agreement took over 3 weeks to send to the registering attorneys. This is absurd. My initial request was that I should qualify for the same interest rate for which I would have qualified had I not cancelled my previously approved home loan in February 2010. I was hoping that the Bank would act with some degree of haste as I have explained on numerous ocassions that I did not want to pay occupational rent unnecessarily for a property that should have been registered in early April at the latest. There is an irresistible inference of the Bank getting some sort of sick kick from frustrating customers.

Money transferred out of my account
I received a mail saying that money has been transferrred via my internet banking account. An amount of R25000.I immediately went downstairs to the bank.They say they have to wait to see where the money has gone, i filled out forms and got them faxed.By that time, the money will really be gone.You security is obviously pathetic.I only use my work machine, and my home machine. No public access machines are used.This is absolutely pathetic service, and this is my hard earned money that my wife and I have been saving for years.Your call center doesnt help. I WANT MY MONEY BACK NOW!!! I want someone at standard bank to do their job and sort this out NOW!!!

Seems like Standard bank staff are sleeping
Last year July i closed my account with Standard Bank! This month i still received an account statement, now it has gone into overdaft, something i never applied for! I have spoke to several at Standard Bank and nobody want to help me! My ref no is 0717521 & 13314875 i have even sent a secure message asking them to close it nothin has happend! Not sure why these people even have so people working in their call centre when no body can help me! I am tired of Standard Bnak and having to phone after them!

Returned debit order rip-off
Three of my debit orders were returned unpaid. Each time Standard Bank charges a fee of R115-00. The last one was returned although the difference between the dedit order amount and the fee was less than R15-00.I have discussed this with StandardBank customer care but we could not reach a solution. Although I have paid money into this account and after I have discussed this with customer care yesterday, I found out this morning that they have returned a fourth debit order for R25-00 and charge once again R115-00. There were funds in the account. I WILL close this account as I think this is a complete rip-off.

Delay on home loan application
My husband & myself applied for a home loan with Standard Bank through a mortgage originator 2 weeks ago and have had nothing but poor service & a sluggish response. We submitted all the required documentation to the originator on completion of the application. On 01042010, our originator req my husbands payslips for last 6 months because he earns overtime. We only needed to submit Oct, Nov & Dec because they already had the latest 3 months paylips. We forwarded the Dec payslip on Tues 06042010. I called 0860123001, spk to a Selene who told me that my application was closed on 01042010 - the same day the docs were requested!- because no docs was recieved. I was shocked & horrified to hear that because no one informed me or made contact with me. I was then told they were going to re-instate & reassess my application. My originator told me today that our application was declined because of some scorecard. I am utterly disappointed & disgusted at the way in which my & my husbands bond application has been handled...my husband is an existing bond acc holder with Standard Bank & cant understand why our business is being 'thrown away'. Our offer to purchase is also expiring soon.
