MISGUIDE/FRADULENT ARTIFICE WITH A CUSTOMER
Since early May ’09, Mr. Vishwanathan the representative of M/s. Standard Chartered Bank, Ahmedabad had been visiting our office quite frequently with a view to capture good business from us. He had offered us many Bank facilities i.e. L/C, Credit facilitation etc.
Apart from this he also offered us one very lucrative scheme at lower rate of interest; especially for import purpose i.e. BUYER’S CREDIT at only 6% rate of Interest.
In the mean time, he explained about the BUYERS CREDIT FACILITIES that under this scheme, the importer means “We” have to submit the documents for remittance of payment to them against Proforma Invoice for advance payment etc. and their Bank will immediately remit such payment to foreign Exporter on our behalf immediately in Dollar currency through their connected bank in that respective country, as they have made such arrangements / tie-up with foreign Banks, and in turn we shall have to make the payment to their bank after 90 days @ of interest of 6% maximum. Thus the importer means “We” can enjoy credit of 90 days @ lowest rate of interest i.e. 6%.
By virtue of such beneficial scheme, we were enticed to avail such Buyers Credit facility. When we applied for such schemes, they have sanctioned us various Bank Facilities as per their letter ET/FPP/001 dated 17/06/2008, for which they had collected an amount of Rs.172075.00 (One lac seventy two thousand and seventy five rupees only) as a application process fees and they have also demanded to keep LIC policies as collateral security with minimum surrender value of Rs.6.21 lacs, which we have surrendered to them.
We have always informed Mr. Vishwanathan, about our existing practice of making remittance of 25%-30% advance against our Chinese supplier’s Proforma Invoice and he has agreed to manage for the same under BUYERS CREDIT scheme for import loan (90 days) scheme.
He asked us about the volume of such import business the frequency thereof. At this juncture we had very vividly informed him the volume of our import business was within the region of 10/15 lacs per month at that time. He had very categorically informed us repeatedly that the bank would club the small requirements of the various buyers to the tune of US$100000.00 for a single transaction and then would arrange for availing this facility to respective clients in proportion of their requirement each single time.
Now, when the time came to take benefit of our Buyers credit facility, we were completely abashed and astonished while our Mr. M.D. Prajapati had telephonic conversation followed by personal visit with Mr. Ravi & Mr. Omprakashji of Standard Chartered Bank on 26th May 2009 at 3.00 p.m. for submitting the documents containing AR-1, Application etc together with a Proforma Invoice of Our (Chinese) Supplier and requested to arrange to remit the 30% amount of US$4977.00 When he flatly refused to do so and informing that it is not possible for their bank to remit such amount either under Buyers Scheme or under import loan saying that the benefit of Buyers Scheme can be availed in the event of making a single transaction of US$ 2.5 lacs and even previous rule for availing this facility was of making a single transaction of US$ 1 lac by a single client.

It cannot be ignored to mention that all the above hidden clauses/information they have not given us before making us client whereas they have explained us only after collecting their process charges amount Rs.172075.00 from us. It is undeniable to comment that they (Standard Chartered Bank) were only interested in collecting the process charges and to swindle the clients on one plea or other.
At this phase, we were much embarrassed and left with no any other option but to request them to arrange to refund us the total expenses of Rs.172075.00, which we spent for the application process charges and all our life insurance policies which we have surrendered them as a collateral security may be remitted to us. But, after our vigorous follow ups for the same, they have just neglected our exercises and neither returned the processing fees nor returned our LIC policies till this date.
By the time, we have again tried to call up Mr. Vishwanathan the representative of M/s. Standard Chartered Bank for the matter in question and he agreed to handover the LIC policies to us. When we have deputed our representative to collect the same, again he refused to handover the LIC policies saying that they will send us the same through their legal department as their legal department has received legal notice from our advocate, which they never sent.

worst bank ever
I TOTALLY AGREE STANDARD CHARTERED BANK IS WORST BANK EVER..NEVER TAKE ANY TYPE OF LOAN FROM STANDARD CHARTERED BANK..SCB IS A BIGGEST CHEATER..THE DIRTIEST BANK I HAVE EVER DEALTH WITH.THEY ARE BUNCH OF HOODLUMS WRONGFULLY ENTERED IN TO THE BANKING SECTOR. IN SOME BANK MAY BE ONE OR TWO PERSON ARE BAD...
HERE THE TOTAL CULTURE ITSELF IS SO BAD, EVEN HIRING THE PEOPLE WITH STANDARD CHARTERED EXPERIENCE WILL BRING DISGRACE AND HARM TO ANYWHERE THEY WORK.

Service
This Bank has been a good bank several years ago.. I have seen the service levels dropping over the past thirty years with this institution. Just yesterday, a cheque that I had issued for Dhs.200, 000.00 (About 25 lakh rupees or $30, 000.00 was dishonoured by the bank for strange reasons!! I had more than this amount with them, and no one phoned me to check with me or verify with me any details. Obviously I will consider taking legal action against the bank. So beware before you issue large cheque amounts.

This is really a fraud case
I just wanted to make public beware & want to raise complaint against Standard Chartered Bank PLC. How there account can be debited without there knowledge. I have a account with Standard Chartered Bank PLC in Bangalore @ cunhummingam Road and credit card issued by them. I pay my credit card payment online whenever I use the card.
All of sudden I see that my saving account was debited for my credit card payment without my knowledge. Wherein I have not given any authority to bank to debit my account. There was no email or confirmation sent to me before debiting my account.
I do agree there was outstanding amount on my credit card, but that was due to bank mistake. They have charged unwanted interests & late charges on my card & I refused to pay the payment. And moreover I don’t get regular statements, from 6 to 7 months I am not receiving any statement for credit card. When I requested for the same and for past one year statement they first refused to send. Then they look 6 months to send one year statement. By the time I got the statement bank have charged too much of interest and late fee charges on my card. When I questioned the same to bank they coolly told bank has all the rights to debit the account. This is really a fraud case.
Hence i would request each one of you to be very careful with you bank account & private banks like this.

They were unable to find any prior communication with me
I hold a corporate bank acount with STD CHTD Bank since jan, 2006. In May, 2006 Rs. 500/- were debited from my account stating an ATM withdrawl on my mini statement. When I called to check on the same, phone banking asked me to fax a letter. I informed them that I cannot fax a letter as I dont have the resources, their manager promised me to send an Executive to collect the letter from me personally. It was repeated 4 times but no executive turned up. atlast I was forced to forget my 500/0 without any solution. On Aug 6th, 2006 at 10:00AM, I made a ATM transaction of Rs. 1400/- on UTI ATM. The first transaction said Transaction failed. The second transaction went through succesfully. In the evening, when I checked my mini statement, I saw two debits of Rs. 1400/- from my account. I called phone banking to enquire on the same and one of the representatives told me that I will have to wait for 11 days to get the charge reversed. And if that doesnt happen they will file a investigation for the same and it might take 30-90 days. This really made me frustrated as its my own money which I saved with the bank and I cant use it when I need it due to a technical issue with the banks. Now, I have lost Rs. 1900/- without any information when would that be reveresed. The phone banking agent promised me a call back by a manager but noone called me up. Its such a lousy Customer Service with such a reputed bank. Now, I fear saving my money with STD CHTD bank account any more. I was to use this money for some urgent work but now due to this issue I cant use my own money and I have to go for a big loss. I dont seem to have any other choice. Customer service dont even record anything when they speak with me. They were unable to find any prior communication with me.

Standard Chartered Bank's cheating way of enticing consumer for credit card
Respected Sir/Madam,
I am Avishek Chakraborty, Holder of a salary account no - 22810115928 with Standard Chartered Bank, India at the Goregaon (E) Branch.
I would like to air my grievances through this mail about the unethical way this bank has taken in my case for selling me their product & cheated me by sending me some other product which i never opted for. I would believe that my efforts have been justified if this mail in anyway has a impact on the bank's unethical way of doing so business & save psychological harassment for a large number of innocent consumers.
One week back on 15/04/10, I received a call from a standard chartered executive that i have been selected as a privileged customer to receive a Platinum elite credit card & i was told about the other privileges that this card has to offer. I liked the details as these would match my requirements & i applied for the card. I was told that i would get the card with 100% guarantee. Now after i submitted all the documents, I received verification calls & all the process went smoothly. I was never informed about anything in conflict with the executives promises. But today, on 19/04/10, i received one Gold rewards credit card (Card No - 4196 0749 4004 7492) in stead of the promised Platinum elite credit card. On asking the help line i was told that, I should accept this card & after a period of time my card would be upgraded to a Platinum card.
These whole process created a lot of distrust in my mind against the standard chartered bank's way of doing business. They at first promise the customer about the high end products they have to offer & once the person fall in the trap they do not fulfill the promises & sends some other product.
This experience of mine has proved to be so bitter for me that i really intend to sever all my ties with this bank in the future & will probably transfer my resources to some other bank & never ever use any the service that standard chartered is offering.
I intend to lodge a consumer complaint in the consumer court, Government of India in my capacity as a troubled/cheated consumer, If my case is not immediately handled with utmost respect by the Standard Chartered Bank to solicit legal action..
I hope that my experience will help numerous other consumers & they can save their time & mental harassment that i went through during this ordeal.

fraud by executive
I am AMIT RASTOGI had a saving babk a/c in STANDARD CHARTERED BANK IN cannaught place branch new Delhi India
no. is 52610490091. before 2.5 years back your executive Mr. SAURAV
BHATNAGAR has come to me and he told me that you close your a/c and
open in new opening branch in pitam pura so i gave him closing letter, cheque book and debit card. my a/c no in pitampura is 53710061301.
from that time i was thinking that my old a/c has been closed but on
10-11-2009 one deposite is made in my old a/c by third partyof rs.
36500. that time i aware that a/c was not closed and have a negetive
balance of rs. 7069 for non maintanance even my new a/c balance is more
than 3 lacks. so i given application in CCu for waive of my charges and
todat i have been closed my both the a/c but still CCU not replied me
so i request you to revert my charges and send me by pay order.AND FOR
LAST 2.5 YEARS I DIDN, T RECEIVED ANY CALL OR STATMENT FROM YOUR SIDE
FOR MY OLD A/C.
