BEFORE YOU READ MY TALE OF WOE WITH STARPOINT, LET ME TELL YOU THAT THERE ARE ALREADY SEVERAL OF US WHO WANT TO START A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST STARPOINT.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, CONTACT ME VIA EMAIL AT [email protected] AND INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER.
On April 15th, 2010 we told our salesman, Peter Viger and his superior, Ferdinand, that since we live in Fort Lauderdale (the cruise capital of the U.S.) we were ONLY interested in cruises. They told us many-many-times, that for 5, 000 points we could get a last-minute cruise for a week in the Caribbean. After 50 phone calls to Starpoint/Geo, MaryJo Piotrowski, one of Geo’s vacation counselors, told us that is was not possible to get any cruise, even through RCI for 5, 000 points. Even the 15, 000 points we purchased won’t get us a cruise. We can, however, get discounts on cruises but not to the Caribbean. We called Ferdinand on his cell phone and he said, that due to the confusion, he would send us an extra 15, 000 points. We never received it! The Geo public offering statement was hidden from us, buried under Geo and RCI Travel Books, in the bottom of a new green dufflebag (handed to us as we left). It was never shown to us or discussed with us. Note: Peter Viger and Ferdinand no longer work for Starpoint. Peter called us last week and volunteered to testify that our only interest was in cruises.
Around May 20th, Jeanette Nilsen, called us after the committee meeting, to offer us $1, 500 off our contract and a 1-year membership to I.C.E.. We wanted some details on I.C.E. and Julie Jones asked us to call David at I.C.E. We talked intensively with him about their cruises. Julie Jones wrote to us, “It is comforting to know that we are moving on the right path and I’m currently researching the I.C.E. entity. I look forward to our conversation tomorrow, June 11th, 2010, to discuss your future in cruises and vacations”. From all that we now know, I.C.E. will only provide discounts, not a cruise. Once again, Starpoint has not lived up to what it promised.
Starpoint keeps repeating to us that in their BUYER’S ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND UNDERSTANING document we signed, “13. You acknowledge that; (a) you have not relied on any oral representations or promises made to you by any salesperson or agent which you do not have in writing…
In the GeoHoliday Resort Membership Guide, it says about Cruises, “You have access to popular cruise lines such as Carnival and Royal Caribbean”. In late June of 2010, we found out that Geo stopped offering cruises, back in October of 2009, six months before the sales presentation of April 15th, 2010. Despite, the over 50 calls we made to Geo, no one ever told us this. We initialed lots of things the day we signed the contract. How come no one thought that, Geo not offering cruises, was important enough to have us initial?
