They have lost another customer!
I have State Farm Homeowner insurance on my home. We fixed it up and put it on the market when a toilet water line burst. It took three months before the State Farm Premier repair team finished the repairs while I continued paying mortgage payments...the house was not habitable, yet State Farm refuses to cover the mortgage payments during the time it was uninhabitable (taken off the market). Greg Lopeman, my agent, never called ONCE to check on the status. I am forced to file a lawsuit against them to recover lost use of the residence. They have no customer service and try to avoid helping a customer who was loyal for years. Too bad..they have lost another customer!

Outrageous Prices
I was with State Farm for a number of years as they claim to have some of the lowest rates around well after my fifth rate increase I finally said enough is enough. I started to shop around and got some quotes from a site called www.Nysurance.com . Alsmost every quote I got was significantly less than State Farm. It was almost as if they are the exact opposite as they say they are one of the most expensive out there in my opinion. I wanted to share my story with all of you out there that are also probley getting ripped off the same way I was. I hope this helps.

Nonpayment of claim
On August 24th, 2009 my home was broken into while I was in bed trying to sleep. I heard the loud sound of shattering glass. As I was alone and without any weapons, I patiently and quietly waited in bed for the robber to leave the house so I could then escape or go get the cellphone that I had left in my dining room earlier that evening. After ransacking my home for over 20 minutes, I heard the robber open my front door. This is when I decided to escape the house using the back door. In the process of my escape, the robber saw me, appeared stunned that I was in the house and quickly began throwing my belongings into trash cans and a recycle bin which he later took to my vehicle which was also stolen. I then ran out the back door, my dog in one arm and grabbed an ax that the intruder had left on my dining room table in the other for protection and ran several blocks to an all night gas station to call police. Keep in mind that I was barefoot and wearing only underwear at the time. The police responded immediately, however by the time they got to my house the intruder had left and taken my vehicle as well (he had my keys).
In the claim process, I found out that what I was told was a "replacement cost" policy really was not. The policy only covered the depreciated value of the items stolen and they would only pay the difference between the depreciated cost and the replacement cost at a later date when I had used my own money to replace everything.
State Farm then sent my claim to a special investigations unit, where weeks turned into months and State Farm did nothing at all- never updated me on the status of the claim, told me that I was being investigated for fraud, etc. I had given over 4 hours of taped sworn testimony to them and they contacted me for yet another "examination under oath" where they demanded copies of my tax returns, credit card statements, loans and savings accounts. State Farm also contacted a man who I used to be in a relationship with who had given me a black hills gold ring (approx value $ 120.00) eleven years earlier. They told him where I was living and this began the harassment I am now suffering at his hands. At the end of our relationship, he had been convicted of domestic assault and I had a protection order against him. I now will have to file for yet another protection order and he is aware of where I live. I am going to refuse to give State Farm my financial records, as they are not in any way related to the robbery claim, but am certain that this will be classified as "failure to cooperate" and my claim will ultimately be denied.

Disservice provided
The handling of cases at state farm is very bad. My car was in an accident, I was rear-ended, flipped and rolled over, It has been over 3 weeks, and I still have no car, none of my damaged property has been re-embuirsed, I have initiated contact 5 times, and State Farm agents give me different instructions each time, tell me will call me never call back, keep adding on red-tape, no offer or contact has been made on Medical reembuirsement, have nor been given a rental, my car that was totalled (as per the agend) has been taken away from the towing company's lot; even though I still own the car and have not sent the required power of attorney and title (no offer still). Now my agent calls me saying that I am not cooperating with State Farm; though State Farm's agents keep saying that they are at fault for not contacting me.
Will keep updating this complaint alongwith other blogs over the next few weeks tillmy claim is settled.
In summary; State Farm slogan should be changed to Like A Bad Neighbor is Never There.

Roof damages
I have a very bad experience with State Farm insurance, this issue is still an on going process. My house + roof have been build in 2002, my roof has several damages like missing shingles due to heavy wind. State Farm forces me to accept patch repairs despite having an ITEL lab. report stating that my original shingles are organic shingles and that production for this paticular shingles has stopped, ITEL informed me that the most suitable shingles for the repairs are certainteed fiberglass shingles, the third party lab. states also that the fiberglass shingles available on the market should not be used for partial or patch repairs but are only suitable for full slopes replacement only.Note that the fiberglass shingles have a different thickness and the color is not a full match. State Farm forces me to have a contractor perform the patch repairs and wishes to review the subject when the work is done... Other neighbors facing the same issues with different insurance providers had their roof repaired with slopes repairs or full roof replacements. Any suggestions ??? Thanks.

MY own agent Told Me it was hard to believe the Tree fell on a nice day for No reason!!! I was there. And The nerve to call Me a liar. THAN an adjustor came out ANd said to My husband That I would Have been better off if I had gotten Hurt & called an ambulance! Then I would have had proof of the time of the Fall!!! Omitting details of multi-discount program
My girlfriend and I talked to a woman named Cilia in this office about getting the Multi-car discount with state farm. She said ok and we my share of the policy was 33 dollars a month for the basic coverage. Now, a few days later we got the paper work and noticed my payments were 20 dollars higher than cilia quoted me. I called and asked what was going on and she told me since my girlfriend and I weren't related or married that we didnt qualify for the discount and I would have to pay regular rates for a basic policy. We now were back-billed 64 dollars (the balance of the NON-DISCOUNTED RATE) because of cilias mistake!!! I talked to the office manager candy and I was VERY IRATE with her about this and felt scammed and lured into a policy just so cilia and john Sullivans office can have another policy signed up through their office. I talked to john sullivan and said he should be paying the back amount of 64 dollars and he refused so I dropped that company for a second time due to poor performance and bad customer relations. Cilia should have asked the right questions and john Sullivan should be training her and future office people the correct way to interview or his office tactics and ethics will continue to be viewed as deceptive.

wind and hail roof damage
We recently had storms move through our area (Rockford, Roscoe, IL). A family member also had hail damage to his roof (also has State Farm, same agent) and they sent out an independent contractor, meaning this company had no ties to Sate Farm. Three weeks later, he has a new roof. Our damage was much worse as we live in a very windy area and had not only hail but wind damage and State Farm sent out one of their "field reps". This man was rude from the time he got out of his truck, never introducing himself, never saying "hi, how are you", nothing, he came with an attitude! At the end of his inspection, he requested to speak to my husband, and as I walked up, he rudely asked who I was, then when I was "cleared" as a homeowner, he proceeded to tell us that the damage on our roof was "manufactured", which I asked him to elaborate on (I didn't catch on to the fact that he was calling us crooks!), and he would now be sending out a "forensic investigator" to complete the job. I was so upset, humiliated, angry, and just plain flabbergasted that I first demanded one of his business cards, then had to go in and use my asthma inhaler to try to calm down before I called my agent, Julie Weaver at the 3065 N Perryville Rd Rockford, Il 61114 815-282-9328 State Farm Office, (who actually happened to be new to us because our agent of 20+ years retired and we had just been assigned to this agent weeks earlier). This so-called inspector did not believe we could have wind or hail damage on all 4 sides of our roof (???). THERE WAS A STORM, WITH WIND!!! While I gather all the information I need to switch insurance company's, I would love to know if anyone has EVER sued State Farm (including defamation of character) and won, or if anyone has any other ideas. How can they send an independent contractor to one home (this relative w/ the new roof has had State Farm for about 7 or 8 months vs our 20+ years) and another get a "Field Rep" or whatever their called...bottom line one works for the benefit of State Farm and the other doesn't care. I know for a fact if they had sent that same company to our house, we would have our new roof with no complaints. Oh, and in our 20+ years, we have 6 things insured with them, and have at most ever put in 2 or 3 claims! I want to sue them! I just don't know if it financially feasible. Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Unbelievable
I was hoping someone reading this could please help me or lead me in the right direction. I recently found out I had a Sewer Pipe Break under my house. We had an adjuster come out and investigate. In order for it to be fixed, a plumber would need to break up my recroom floor (the pipe is under the cement slab), bathroom floor and more than likely my laundry room floor (they are not sure where the damage ends without sticking another camera. We found Mold from the water leaking all along my basement wall and I have 2 small children who have all their toys down there. Long story short, the adjuster that I had come out was under the impression that it would be covered. Our home owners policy is under State Farm. All the leg work has been done, we even had a company called Serve Pro come out a put an air cleaner in our basement and tape off the closets where the mold is. The agent from State Farm came out to look at the problem a few days later State Farm sent out their plumber to confirm there was a leak and the pipe needed to be fixed. The plumber confirmed it and the adjuster went back to State Farm to get the go ahead to get the job done. I just got a call today that State Farm denied my claim stating the "wording in the policy had recently changed" and Pipes that are under the slab are not covered. This is unbelievable!!! We have had StateFarm for 8 years ever since we became home owners, never had a claim until now. What do we pay insurance for if they are not going to pay for damamges. Where else do they expect a Sewer Pipe to be on top of your house?? This job is going to cost any where from 8, 000-20, 000 dollars. Not even counting the cost of having my basement walls ripped out, redone and mold free as well as my belongings in the basement, bathroom tile floor replaced, painting redone since the wall was cut to get to the pipe. My adjuster told the Manager at State Farm we would take him to court and he said go ahead we have a good case. I do not have the money for a lawyer let alone the money to fix all the damage. Please help. State Farm is probably screwing so many others and this needs to STOP NOW.
