State Farm Insurance Reviews

Screwed
I was hoping someone reading this could please help me or lead me in the right direction. I recently found out I had a Sewer Pipe Break under my house. We had an adjuster come out and investigate. In order for it to be fixed, a plumber would need to break up my recroom floor (the pipe is under the cement slab), bathroom floor and more than likely my laundry room floor (they are not sure where the damage ends without sticking another camera. We found Mold from the water leaking all along my basement wall and I have 2 small children who have all their toys down there. Long story short, the adjuster that I had come out was under the impression that it would be covered. Our home owners policy is under State Farm. All the leg work has been done, we even had a company called Serve Pro come out a put an air cleaner in our basement and tape off the closets where the mold is. The agent from State Farm came out to look at the problem a few days later State Farm sent out their plumber to confirm there was a leak and the pipe needed to be fixed. The plumber confirmed it and the adjuster went back to State Farm to get the go ahead to get the job done. I just got a call today that State Farm denied my claim stating the "wording in the policy had recently changed" and Pipes that are under the slab are not covered. This is unbelievable!!! We have had StateFarm for 8 years ever since we became home owners, never had a claim until now. What do we pay insurance for if they are not going to pay for damages. Where else do they expect a Sewer Pipe to be on top of your house?? This job is going to cost any where from 8, 000-20, 000 dollars. Not even counting the cost of having my basement walls ripped out, redone and mold free as well as my belongings in the basement, bathroom tile floor replaced, painting redone since the wall was cut to get to the pipe. My adjuster told the Manager at State Farm we would take him to court and he said go ahead we have a good case. I do not have the money for a lawyer let alone the money to fix all the damage. Please help. State Farm is probably screwing so many others and this needs to STOP NOW.

Incompetent Staff
In all the 10+ years that I was insured by State Farm, I have NEVER been treated this way, my recent experience with Cookie O'Days Agent located at 13550 N. Kendall Drive, Miami, FL just puts such a "bad taste" in my mouth. I don't have enough space to write all that has transpired since March 2009; when my car broke down on the highway in the middle of the night and had to be towed to my house, then to my mechanic the next day. Ms. O'Day denied paying the 2 claims, and after I disputed, she said she had to call the Winterhave office to inquire, she later retracted, apologized and paid my 2 towing claims. A couple of weeks ago I received a large increse in my premium of over $30 extra per month, and I questioned my agent Fernando, he claimed that "due to the towing claims" (too many) my premium was increased? AND due to my 2006 car accident, AND my credit report. I was furious, so I called the Corp. Office and spoke to an Underwriter, she explained that it was NOT due to the towing claims, but because of the 2006 accident, so I contacted Raul of Craig Martins' office, he very courteous assisted me and emailed me "Thanking me for the opportunity to continue with State Farm" so he found me another agent to transfer to and one who "assist" me with my insurance, instead I was told by the "new" agent Manny Morin that State Farm has now decided to "Drop Me" because of the towing claims!!?? I was in shock about what I was hearing, when I questioned several staff members of State Farm, I was given all contradicting information as to reason to the increase of my premium, but was NEVER told I was being “dropped” until Mr. Morin informed me this past Friday (please see attached all the emails I received from Cookie O’Days’ Office Manager offering me various options to keep my car insured with them, also Raul’s and Cookie O’Day herself thanking me for wanting to “continue” with State Farm? I demand an investigation as to WHEN this decision was made, these people NEED TO BE STOPPED! And I have never in all the 30 years I have been driving experienced such an unprofessional treatment by State Farm Representatives! Their training and customer service practices are a Disgrace!!

denied claim on hot tub
We had a storm during the winter that caused the motherboard on our hot tub to go. As a result, the pipes froze and cracked. We had a technician tell us that it was 'not repairable' and to submit it to our insurance for claim. State Farm sent a field tech (no experience necessary) to take pictures of the motherboard. Because the pictures of the motherboard did not show any burn marks, they denied our claim!

Let me see, storm happened, power went out, motherboard on hot tub went, pipes froze. Totally under our control, right?? Hmmmm... This was the first claim we ever persued in over 20 years with State Farm Insurance (believe me, we have written a lot of checks to State Farm) and this is the treatment we get.

Good Bye State Farm!

camper damage
Last year my neighbor took camper out of storage with everything normal. This year took camper out of storage and had water damage. called state farm & they said it was (lack of maintenence) so they won't cover any of it, but they now know about the damage so they won't have to pay as much if something else happens. What a racket, take your money every month and not cover obvious damage! Don't buy state farm insurance! Both her & I had state farm but are in process of switching. Found a hole poked in rubber roof that looks like a small branch landed & tore quarter size hole in.Anybody blind could see damage but adjuster said he didn't know if he could cover. Best advertising GEICO could get! Or PROGRESSIVE. Both of us have HAD state farm for 20 years or more. Thats gonna change!

Insurance hail damage
I purchase Insurance with these assholes in November on our new house, yesterday we had a bad hail storm, I called them this morn to send someone out to check the roof, Casey told me that I would have to pay the first $2800 on the repairs, 2% of the loan, I asked her why she did'nt tell me that WHEN I bought the policy, she said if you don't insure your cars with them too, they charge you 2%, or 1% if you insure your cars, I have never heard of this, , I thought we had a right to buy Insurance where we pleased, this sounds like a penalty/blackmail has anyone else experienced this? This assholes are history in the making with me! If you have STATE FARM you might want to check this out!

HELP MY HUSBAND RETIRED FROM STATE FARM 6 YEARS AGO.
FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR HE RECEIVED A 1099 MISC. IT WILL COST US $1200 IN TAXES. THEIR EXPLANATION IS AFTER 5 YEARS
IT IS CONSIDERED OTHER INCOME. IT IS STILL RETIREMENT OR PENSION AND WE SHOULDN'T BE TAXED AGAIN. IN THE STATE OF
MICHIGAN IF WE RECEIVE A 1099R WE WOULD NOT BE TAXED.

State Farm Insurance suspending license?
Thanksgiving day i had went to grab my car and park it in front of my apartment figuring this would be an easy task. On my way to paralell park outside this black car speeds up on my back end and blairs the horn. So i go up to the next parking spot while traveling to this area the car even tries to moneuver around me on a one way street. I finally arrive, on the same street at another parking spot. As i try to back in the car zooms up behind me. He instantly gets out of the car and yells "you broke my car!" . After this had happened i had gone inside my girlfriend had heard the guy laying on the horn and watched the whole thing. This being a car i had just purchased i had not insured it yet. So i had exchanged information with the driver who was using state farm insurance. Two weeks later i get a call from asking me what had happened they also called my girlfriend and got her say. Another two weeks rolls by and they call me back saying that he had told them another story and he had a police report? That is amazing, he actually had the police come while i was gone. Today i recieve a call from OSI Collections which is state farms collection agency. This is strange because for two months i had not heard from state farm and all of a sudden i have to pay 1200.00 dollars in repair for this guys car or the insurance company will suspend my license and my moms. I cannot believe i had not gotten any result on the accident untill now. I then called and spoke with state farms insurance they in fact told me that they are always bias for the customer. And that if i did take it to court they would not release it from collections.

Poor Reimbursment
I have insured my mobile home for 1 year and also have had vehicle insurance since I got a drivers liscence which was bout 10yrs ago. I pay almost 4000 yr for my auto and home. I placed the first claim to State Farm Sept. 15, 2008 after Hurricane Ike ripped through my nieghbor hood and destroyed peoples homes and belongings; today is the Nov. 10, 2008 and i have just now heard that they will not pay me what it will take to repai my house but they will charge me money for the depreciated value of my home and that should balance out what they would pay me. So therefor this other insurance called Foremost funded a close friend that had very similiar damage 4x's the amount of what State Farm payed me and got his house fixed. To sum it up I switched insurance to Foremost and will never ever use State Farm again and please do the same to save yourself a headache and nithmare if you ever need them. Thanks for reading
